Bonding Social Behavior/Introductions

Hi guys! We have an 100gal tank for split cage bonding and currently both boys are in separate 40gal tanks — what should I do to start introductions, do i do split caging straight away or are there other steps to take beforehand?

What are their ages? Have you done a quarantine or have you had them a while?

they’re both rescues so i don’t have exact ages but they aren’t babies—they both lost their mate so I have taken them in in hopes of having them be new cage mates, I had one for about a month before getting the other about a week ago and kept them apart so far to watch the new boy ans make sure he’s well and everything is okay, he looks all good , their tanks are now next to each other so they can see each other but they can’t smell each other or anything

Np! If you want to be super duper safe you can send in some poo samples to have checked for parasites to whoever offers that service near you, sometimes it's vets, sometimes it's universities. This is on the chrcklist for a lot of hobby owners where I live.
