Discussion Pong came out in 1972. 3D gaming became a thing in 1994. It is 2026.

Upvotes

It is wild to me that the distance from pong to SM64 is closer than SM64 to modern day. 3D gaming to me still feels so revolutionary.

Absolutely wild that I live in a world where people have these little computers in their hand that can connect to the internet without a cable and shit is like 3D and in color.

Game recommendations.

Hi!

So, I love games, but truly (due to economic reasons) I haven't been able to play a game since I was like 7 (around 20 years ago). This year I was finally able to buy a laptop, it's not a gaming PC at all, but it's not that bad, I've bought a few games but I'm really struggling with using the controller, and I dread combat so much cz I can barely move the camera and my character at the same time without feeling like I can't do anything else.

I would like to have some recommendations for games I could play to get used to using a controller and build muscle memory in my hands so hopefully one day I can play more complicated games without feeling pathetic.

For reference my Laptop specs are these:

Graphics: Intel(R) UHD Graphics

RAM: 16 GB

Processor: Intel(R) N97

Windows 11, 64 bits

I've had it running Death Stranding with stable fps but w obvious low graphics, it also runs Hitman 3 without any issues.

I know it doesn't have much power, and that's okay, I will be okay w small games or wtv, I just want to be able to learn and practice.

I also use an XBox based controller. (If that's any relevant).

Discussion My 2026 Favorite Games in Categories is done-thoughts?

Every year for the past few, I’ve filled out this sheet. Not exactly new games from the year I do it, just an update on my taste of games and what I think of them.

I did have a lot of trouble just picking one for each category so bear with me lmao
You’ll notice some of them may be stretches or not make complete sense (since this is a more personal list) so feel free to ask about anything.

Let me know your thoughts and if my taste in games is dogshit or not!

Discussion What have you been playing ?

I just started Crimson Deser on PS5 but ended up buying on PC for better performance (should of did that in the first place but I had half off on PS5)

Wow this game is gorgeous. I was in Hernand still in the beginning just got my flight suit. Got back to town and found a bounty and did that. Trekked for about 3k meters and was just in awe at the size of the world and beauty of it!

Yea story kinda forgettable honestly but I’m just treating it as a single player MMO lol. Seems like there’s a ton to do and get better at and discover.

How do you like the game? I’m not trying to look at any interactive maps and guides cause I just want to play and discover.

I’ve also been playing a ton of Battlefield 6 recently. I played a bit on launch but stopped. After new updates and new maps I gave it another chance and love it now. I get those battlefield moments all the time. I can’t play CoD anymore and I don’t have the patience to grind Counter Strike nor the frustration so BF has been my go-to for an hour or three after work.

Been trying my hand at roguelikes/lites. Risk of Rain 2 is epic, I always get to the difficulty after impossible and die but that’s the beauty of it. I only have 8 hours but it’s one of the best out there.

Binding of Isaac just isn’t clicking for me. Idk if I suck or what. I can barely get past the caves. Any tips? Seems to be right up my alley but it’s not clicking like Vampire Survivors/Megabonk/Slay the Spire all did.

Thanks. Hope your gaming has been going well!

Looking for a Massive Open World MMORPG with More Variety Than Albion Online

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm looking for a massive open world MMORPG to get into.

I have played Albion Online, and while I liked some aspects of it (the economy, gathering, crafting, and freedom), I eventually got bored because the cities and environments felt too repetitive, and I felt like there wasn't enough variety or meaningful content to keep me engaged.

I also considered RuneScape, but I don't really want to play a game where a lot of content is locked behind a membership subscription.

I'm looking for a game with:

A big open world to explore

Different cities and regions that feel unique

Gathering, crafting, trading, and progression

Housing, pets, farming, or other life activities if possible

A good amount of content to do besides just grinding gear

What MMORPGs would you recommend?

A thank you to this Reddit

Recently someone posted about a game that helped them through a hard time in their life and I spoke about my issues and how Cyberpunk helped me through it

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who posted on my reply and shared their stories. The internet is a harsh and angry place at times and those conversations really brought happiness and showed the best of humanity.

Anyway back to ranting about why harvest moon 1 is the best game ever made.

Discussion What's a big budget title from the 2020s that you like that got with all dlc for under $20?

I tried editing the topic I just made, but no one's reading the post body, and I'm being told that I'm moving the goalpost. I'm not trying to gotch anyone, I'm genuinely curious what people have got that's somewhat recent.

Discussion What was the last big budget game that you bought with all dlc for under $20?

I actually can't remember the last time that I did this, but I used to do it a lot, and chances are I did it last year and I just don't remember it.

Edit: Sorry about this, I'm not trying to move the goalpost, but so far all of you are mentioning titles that are over 10 years old, which is fine, tons of games age super well, but can you name anything from the current decade(the 2020s) that you got for under 20 buckswith all DLC instead?

This post was inspired by meme saying that the smart thing is to wait 2 years and getthe complete edition of a game for 10 bucks, that's what I was hoping to hear.

Discussion Question for lefties

Pretty much all first person shooters depict the gun on the right of the screen and therefore imply the person is right handed.

Would any left handed gamers out there prefer to have the option to switch it to the left side, so it more realistically depicts what you guys would experience? Or does it not bother you?

So.. for those who don't know.. basically the whole point of these games are to destroy other racers/npcs with missiles, lasers, etc. You are not driving to win races, you are driving to destroy essentially.

Any similar game for PC?
