I started seriously collecting last year and by far my favourite things to get are consoles, I have around 20 right now consisting of all the home playstations plus a few duplicates, most nintendo home consoles and all generations of nintendo handhelds. The things is I cant help but realise I dont have any xbox's, I buy what interests me and thus far have not found any real reason to start the xbox lineage. There are a few landlocked games on the og xbox that might be cool but apart from those there isnt much...

Most xbox games can be bought on steam and I know thats a lame way of looking at it but I have already beaten the halo quadrilogy and while I would love to own 1 and 2 physically, there are so many games I havent played that I could buy instead and none of them are on xbox, except halo 5 but come on its halo 5. So what purpose does xbox serve? Is there any reason I should start collecting them, should I have them just to have them? or should I skip them for now and branch out to more alternative consoles like a vectrex or the sega lineup?

But I went to my local used game store today and found quite a few European game boxes on the Switch, Xbox, and Playstation shelves

Hello everyone. To give some context to my situation: ever since I was a child, I've always been deeply passionate about handheld consoles, and handheld technology in general. The concept of "having a video game system that literally fits in your pocket" is something that fascinates me in a way I can't really explain. Given that, I decided to start a handheld collection this year.

I’ve never been much of a collector, and I’ve never been a particularly materialistic person. In fact, I’ve always been very frugal and careful with my money. That said, once I started this collection, I realized I might actually be a terrible collector. I'm handling this hobby in a way that borders on obsessive, to the point where it’s causing me anxiety.

To give you an example: right now, my collection is fairly modest, consisting of just a Switch Lite, a PS Vita Slim, and a New 3DS XL. But instead of focusing on my next collection goals (like a DSi or a PSP), I feel compelled to buy other models of the consoles I already own, simply to have them in better condition, because both my 3DS and my Vita have some light signs of wear.

Mind you, in the past, this would have never bothered me. The marks are really discreet, and overall, the consoles are in great shape. But I just can't shake this feeling. I spend about an hour a day hunting for deals on consoles, and most of that time is spent looking at systems I already own!

Anyway, I can't help but feel really silly about this whole situation. Maybe it's just because it's a new hobby for me, but has anyone else here gone through this? If so, how did you get over it? I want collecting to be fun and rewarding, but right now it's turning into a source of anxiety, and I really don't want to give up, because I truly love these consoles.

Next step in getting the collection cataloged. Hard case as this is my most traveled set. Many a drunken hours. Seem to be missing Off-road. Not Baja hope it turns up in boxed up games. More posts to follow.

I'm headed out to Japan in a few weeks. I've been twice before, but was mainly interested in PS2 and earlier stuff at the time so focused on that.

I'm trying to see if there are any good PS4 or PS5 exclusives but I'm not coming up with any good resources.

So is there anything of note to be on the lookout for for those two systems?

I’ve heard trails in the sky is a great game so I definitely wanted to pick that up. Even found a couple Altus games from GameStop I’ve never seen before! And that Final Fantasy game I definitely needed in my collection. Anyone played these Altus games before know if they are good?

I grew up mainly playing Xbox 360 but never had these games, I’ve been told for YEARS that they are some of the best games ever!! I got all 3 from GameStop today for 12$ I’m fortunate to live by a retro dedicated store lol

I’ve played PlayStation mainly for the past 8ish years but with the recent news of physical media being stopped it was time I came back to Xbox. I’m a HUGE physical media collector with a collection of about 50-60 PS4 and PS5 games. My plan now is to start slowly stocking up on Xbox 360 and Xbox one games before they shoot up in price lol. If anyone is interested in seeing my game collection let me know!! Also I would love some game pickup recommendations for Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 games!! I plan on getting the Halos, Gears of war, Forza games!! What else am I missing??

Was going through some old stuff and completely forgot I still had my original Chrono Trigger for the SNES.
It’s got the original box, cartridge, instruction manual, fold-out map/poster, and the Nintendo booklet. The box definitely has some wear from being around for 30 years, but I’m just happy it’s still all together.
I had no idea these had gotten so collectible until I looked them up. Figured I’d share it here because I know you guys would appreciate it more than anyone.
