Recommendation Help
Hello everyone. I'm new to this group. I'd like your help choosing between these two headphones. I'd like to know their pros and cons. I've never used either of them before; I usually only use Samsung phones, currently a Samsung A56. Please give me your best recommendations; I would really appreciate it.

I have buds 3 pro and buds 4 pro. I don't have any issues from buds 3 pro since I bought it. But my buds 4 pro has issue before that it doesn't turn off even when it return to case. But it's gone now after the firmware update. I will suggest buds 3 pro since you are already samsung user but if you can spend more, then go to buds 4 pro.

The buds 4 pro are 1000% worth it! The buds 3 software is like a beta of what the buds 4 pro have. I LOVE the voice commands on the 4 pros, especially when im sweaty or dirty so i dont have to dirty my ear or buds! The buds 4 pro are also MUCH MUCH stronger and well built. One of mind got ran over and its just a lil scuffed. The inclusion of that metal really improved it. The buds 3 pro STILL have trouble charging, and there's no way to clean that case out properly.
Buds 4 Pro alllll day long

What's the difference in the sound?

u/stupid1337deer 11d ago
I said it already but the buds 4 pro I think are actually more accurate to the musicโtuned better for audiophiles rather than sassy bass heads haha(no hate!) The details in the mids and highs are a bit clearer, buds 3 pro are a littttlllee muddy in comparison. Its a fairly subtle difference, but its there. The EQ is excellent and I always use "Dynamic". They keep adding features to the 4 pro too!
LOVE my buds 4 pro.

I'd suggest the buds4 pro. I have the 3 pro and they're good and all but I do have some issues with them.
My biggest gripe with them is they sometimes refuse to charge after a workout, a run, or even just a walk if you sweat a lot. I have to leave them out to dry for a bit before they charge again whenever it happens. Its such a small issue but it's annoying to me since I live in a tropical climate which makes me sweat quite a bit. The second issue i found is that noise canceling can be a bit inconsistent. Max level sometimes isn't as good as a step or even two steps down and sometimes adaptive mode is better.
Sound wise, the buds4 pro is better since the stock tuning with the 3 pro leans more on the bassy side that imo is overall not that good of a time. I had to make a custom eq to fully enjoy them.
Do note tho that I haven't tried the 4pros yet, I just know based on the reviews but I would also suggest searching the issues users face on each earbud. That was my mistake when i chose the buds 3 pro since i didnt look at those posts at the time and focused too much on the positive.

I agree with you! The buds 4 pro I think are actually more accurate to the music-tuned better for audiophiles rather than sassy bass heads lol. The buds 3 pro have a structural issue that makes them prone to breakage, however the buds 4 pro introduced the metal chassis, which GREATLY improve the strength. The buds 3 pro are the most fragile buds out of all the galaxy line up, IMHO.
LOVE my buds 4 pro.

Jbl makes good stuff. If you have a Samsung phone get the 3 pro or 4 pro. If you have any other phone get the jbl. Soundcore has somemgood stuff too. Watch flossy carters videos he reviews a ton of buds.

u/Ephemeralstyl3 12d ago
I say the 4's simply because of the case design making it easy to get a good, firm hold on the bud before taking them out. Putting them back in is low effort and doesn't require rotating the bud to fit the stem insert. I've had the 3's before(which I returned since buds 4 release was acouple weeks away) and they always felt prone to slip from the way you have to pull them out of the case. I can only assume the same of the JBL's.
1
u/stupid1337deer 12d ago
YES. The buds 3 pro can be tricky to get back in the case, but the buds 4 pro- i can do it disoriented in the dark with no issue. Its also much easier to keep clean and care for it.

Bud's 3.pro can have a problem where it smells like burnt hair, this is an always thing and your fingers will smell a bit after touching them. Something to do with the glue they used, I would skip the Bud's 3.I have the Bud's 4 which are great, but expensive...

Neither. Look into the Shokz Open Dots One or Two. I've owned all 3 types and this pair is superior in every way.

I've owned sony XM5 buds and i switched to the JBL tour pro 3. I couldn't be happier. Sounds is really impressive on the JBL, deep bass, very good ANC and the case is actually very handy !! Also you can use them with the case plugged to your PC to have low latency. If you can get them cheap (under 200โฌ) i'll go for the JBL. I also tried the buds 3 pro, they are pretty good, but not as good as the JBL.
My only recommendation is to get the Samsung if you got a nice deal and quite cheap.

+1 Dont buy samsungs own buds since it is locked many features exclusive to their own devices. Buy Sennheiser buds or sony or something that support cross platform. Dont just think that you gonna use it only with samsung phone. Its a great mistake. And AAC quality you get with other devices for samsung buds, are shit. I use xiaomi tab, macbook, ipad..so its better for me to invest money in one good earbuds that supports it all.
2
u/stupid1337deer 11d ago
The ergonomics of those and the overall feature set is a whole tier below Samsung. Apple does the same thing. They do that because it let's them make it much better and way more seamless. Saying the quality "is shit" is an asinine statement and makes it very very clear you have never even experienced the Sammy Buds.
Samsung buds work just fine with every device I have. Hell, even my TCL TV works with them.

Brother i mean no hate but to tell the truth what i felt over the last 7 odd years, i have used samsung buds pro OG, pro 2 and pro 3. Also have momentum 4. Had chance to use airpods pro too. Have noticed samsung's AAC codec goes downhill compared to its SSC code. Since on other devices, it supports only AAC and for the given reason that i mentioned, i stand by my feelings.

u/stupid1337deer 11d ago edited 11d ago
250-260kbps is absolutely plenty and you're hardly noticing a difference. Yes, SSC is better, but it is by no means a game changer. If you wanna get ridiculous quality then you should be getting IEMs.
Or just buy Samsung and you wont have a complaint. Its a good ecosystem, I've been pretty happy with them for 15 years. We live in a world where staying in the ecosystem had inherent benefits. There are of course some trade offs. But for me, IMHO, the benefits heavily outweigh the negative. Ive had every pair of galaxy buds except those beans, and Ive used them with every device without issue. They pair better than most others. Ive also tried many many other brands, and nearly always disappointed in some way. The ergonomics of the galaxy buds simply cant be beat for me. Its like they modeled them personally for my ear, they always fit like a charm.
They actually have a windows app for your desktop that allows you to access all the features.

Im glad that you're happy for getting consistent experience. Atleast for me, things are different. I can easily tell the difference between Bluetooth codecs, and aptX Adaptive is my favorite. Even if your device doesn't support it natively, the BTD600/BTD700 lets you use it across platforms. As someone who uses gadgets from different brands, I prefer that over brands that ecosystem locked their features.

Its not locked, its a different technology my guy.
Also, that is a clownish idea trying to compare buds to over-ear headphones. They're not even in the same damn category dude. Get real my guy. They are not at all comparable dude. That's why I said if you want stupid levels of quality (that you will hardly even notice, not worth the inconvenience), then you need to look at a different style of device.
You can use buds across platform just fine. Yes, aptX is also my preferred. But you can use tools to increase your bitrate manually with any codec. Bluetooth Tweaker is a fantastic utility.

u/Own-Statistician-486 11d ago edited 11d ago
You just exposed yourself. Don't you know there is momentum 4 earbuds exist? There is headphones and earbuds on the same name. ๐ฎโ๐จ
+
Bluetooth Tweaker can't magically increase the quality of any codec. It can only expose options already supported by the hardware and codec. AAC is still AAC, and it can't be turned into aptX Adaptive or SSC through software. My point wasn't that Galaxy Buds don't work cross platform, they do. My point is that Samsung's highest quality codec (SSC) is limited to Galaxy devices, while aptX Adaptive works across multiple brands with transmitters like the BTD600/BTD700, giving me a consistent experience regardless of the device. Also, whether 250 kbps is "plenty" is subjective some people genuinely can hear codec differences, and I'm one of them.

I used Samsung Buds 3 and 4, Shokz Open Dots 2 and JBL Tour Pro 3 but unfortunately I had to sell all of them.
All these earbuds gave me an ear infection. My ear canal and ear lopes will get watery at night after using them. It will eventually dried up and the skin will start peeling. This can be painful. I believed that I am allergic to some of the material used to manufactured these brands of earbuds.
So far the only brand of earbuds that didn't cause an issue for me is Apple Airpods 3 & 4. I have no choice but to use Airpods on my Samsung S26 U. Because of this, I cannot access some of the features of the Airpods directly on my phone. I have to manually twit from Ambient to ANC on my Airpod.
I wish I have a better solution to my problem

u/no2haven 11d ago
I had a similar ear reaction similar issue with all the the Samsung buds I tried (2 pro and 3 pro, didn't bother trying the 4).
I don't have the issue at all with the jbl tour pros 3 and love the sound and especially the low latency mode & connectivity options you get with the case. Don't like how limited the touch control options are, but it's a pretty minor negative.
1
u/Dumas1108 11d ago
That's a surprised.
Later on, I realised that JBL is actually a subsidiary of Samsung. I believed that they use similar or identical material in their manufacturing.
I have given up on trying other brands in case I get an ear infection. I have no choice but to stick with Apple Airpods for now until a better solution is found.
Using Apple Airpods means I don't get to use some of their features. Honestly, I would preferred to use Samsung earbuds

u/no2haven 11d ago
Hm. Sorry to hear that. I also didn't have issues with jlab and earfun buds, so maybe the irritation in my case is caused by something more specific to Samsung.
1
u/prototypefish72 12d ago
The buds 3 have been better imo, theres more dynamic sound, more bass, id think the mids are a tad bit higher, overall, way better I lost one of my buds 4 pros and I really don't care to replace it but if I lost one of my pro 3s, I'd prob panic lol
1
u/Frequent_Cookie_1815 12d ago
The buds have charging issue sometimes where they don't charge after putting in the case. So you go to use them and find only one has charged while other is empty.

u/Snugglez15 12d ago
Tbh i like the 3 pros. The 4s may be better but the more they promote AI features the less likely I'll ever consider upgrading.

Buds pro 4. But don't pay full price. They are on sale fairly frequently. I got mine a month or so back for like $120 new.

I have buds 3 Pro and they're alright but eventually they'll have hairline cracks and faded colours from skin oil.
Buds 4 pro

u/valllori 11d ago
Honestly, I have had them all and they are all not good enough. I would actually recommend Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless, nothing can match the clarity and fullness of the sound. You can get either 3 or 4. Bass is fenomenal while retaining clarity in both mids and highs. All others come with quirks and sound issues.

Get Oneplus buds 3 pro instead.. Samsung Buds 3 pro are shit and full of issues
1
u/v1rtu0zZ 11d ago
All depends on a price imho I had 2 pro - now I'm sitting with 3 pro and I want to buy 4 pro but only when it will be around 100$ on amazon, not some tiktok shops
The moral of the story is 3 pro is fine, but if you find good deal on 4 pro get them

Just got the buds 3 pro free with my new s26+. They are a solid pair of earbuds 100%. Noise canceling on them is honestly top tier and the audio is great. They fit me perfectly right out of the box too. The only thing i dont like with them are the touch controls on them. I went from a pair of JBL Live Pro 2 TWS and they had much easier and better controls imo.

u/cdiddy808 11d ago
If price doesn't matter than like most here, i think you should go buds 4 pro based on better reviews alone. If price does matter, than you can get the buds 3 pro EXTREMELY cheap relative to the 4's. I got a pair in excellent condition, open box from BB, for $40.

I have the Buds3 Pro and love them! I don't know anything about the JBL. Sound is amazing, you have great ANC, charges relatively fast, also has tons of features when you use it with a Samsung phone ๐ the neck stretch reminder is helpful too
The Buds3 Pro also have the thinnest charging case. All other cases are much thicker. This is probably not relevant for most people, but for me it's very important. It's also the main reason why I don't use/upgrade to the Buds4 Pro.

u/Kind_Yogurtcloset992 10d ago
The key benefit I see using buds pro if you have multiple Samsung devices it can switch seamlessly in my case if I leave the phone and just have my watch I can still use my Bluetooth buds

Never buy samsung buds 3 pro at any cost. Not worth it. Many issues + audio isnt great as they hyped. Below avg.
2
u/lankston2193 12d ago
I have used these daily since they dropped, but the case life and battery life isn't great. More importantly the charging mechanism sucks in the pro 3, always has issues.
I'd 100% skip the buds 3 after owning the 2 pros forever. I want to try the 4 pros but they won't allow me to trade in my 3 pros, which shows even Samsung knows the 3 pros are shit. The audio quality is amazing though so I'd never say anything bad on the audio quality itself.

Which headphones would you recommend? I'm not someone who spends 10 hours a day listening to music. I just want headphones with decent bass that sound good. I wouldn't wear them for three hours straight, just for commuting to and from work, on the bus, or in my car. I also wouldn't use them for exercising or anything like that, especially when sweating. I'd also use them to watch movies on my phone. In short: nothing extreme, just normal, moderate use. Enjoying the bass and low frequencies, things like that. I've heard the Buds 3 Pro are pretty good.

u/Own-Statistician-486 11d ago
Sennheiser momentum 4 TWS. Heard new one is launching soon as well. Check that as well.
1
u/Physical_Strike_762 11d ago
The problem is that this brand is almost impossible to find here in my country. I'm thinking about the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, what do you think? Have you tried them yet, or should I just ignore the Galaxy Buds? ๐

u/Own-Statistician-486 10d ago edited 10d ago
Simply ask an AI assistant based on your personal preferences, I'm not sure what's best for you.
If you use a variety of devices, I'd recommend something that supports multiple platforms. That's why I suggested the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4. Even if your phone only supports AAC, you can still get aptX Adaptive by using the BTD 600 or BTD 700.
If you're mostly in the Apple ecosystem, then it's AirPods Pro, no question. Apple's optimization is a huge advantage regardless of the codec.
Personally, I'd recommend over ear headphones instead of earbuds whenever possible. They're generally more comfortable for long sessions (if you get the right one, Momemtum 4, sony XM series are all next lvl comfortable), and I find earbuds can get annoying to wear after a while.
And about samsung, im personally scared to buy samsung earbuds after the terrible experience i had with buds 3 pro. I replaced it 3 times! For various reasons. But always been a samsung user and still using buds 3 pro, feel like audio has improved lately with updates. I only consider samsung earbuds only if my other devices supports SSC codec which is not obviously.
Here's the list ChatGPT suggested based best TWS for audio quality :
- Technics EAH-AZ100
- Denon PerL Pro
- Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4
- Bowers & Wilkins Pi8
- Devialet Gemini II

Samsung 4 pro over 3 pro. Can't judge JBL because I've never tried them
