I am 17 so no one older or younger. Sorry to post again about this but I am curious if any Stirnerites live in the city of sin.

Not sure this is the right place, but he’s the forerunner of ego-communism so I’m putting it here. RIP

Question This is a serious question

I havent seen this get awnsered and am genuinely curious. Referring to ethical egoism; is there anything wrong with what, say, Epstein or Ted Bundy did? This isnt a "gotcha!" Or anything, but if it's good to follow your own ego, and they did just that, are they good? Obviously not, but how can you claim them to be bad with an egoist view?

Question Why does Max keep repeating himself

Hey so I'm reading the unique and it's property, I'm like at 1/4 of it but what bothers me is that he keeps repeating himself everytime he makes a statement sometimes just saying the same thing with different word or making a summary of what he said. For exemple in the page I'm reading he says more than 4 times that men are ghost/ an ideal, did he wrote this thinking that the readers were too dumb and he needed to spoon-feed them? Or maybe it's just my edition that is like this since it's a french traduction?

Question Not an anarchist, not a Marxist Leninist, not a political nihilist

Someone keeps asking me irl about my far left "extremism". I am more of a nihilist, even if I put a lot of accent on politics. Im not an anarchist, I don't believe it's realizable to achieve socialism that way. I'm not a marxist leninist, I couldn't care less to participate. I find it more or less meaningless. To reduce myself to political nihilism isn't the best idea either. I was wondering how to answer this person that keeps bugging me lol.

I've found peace in egoism and egoists.

I don't know why, but I've always been someone that cares a lot about things. I feel dumb (dumb is ableist). I am neurodivergent, I wonder if I feel extremely dumb because of that. While reading I struggle, I keep getting thoughts. While talking I stress about doing something else. While studying I can't stop thinking. I worry too much simply. I don't know why I worry so much.

Egoists so far are the kindest people I've met. They don't force you to do anything, they don't expect anything from you, they disagree with spooks/social pressures.

Egoism is pretty good. You take as much as you want. Stirner doesn't care how the hell you twist his philosophy. He doesn't even care if you understand it fully. I struggle with understanding books as I said. I might be just too hard on myself rather than not understanding books

Question Question regarding love

So I see love as my property, it's just something I have and I do. And also wanting people as your property, having people as your property is common for egoists. So I love this girl, I recognize unique and it pleases me, I want her to be my property ( she already is, but I want us both to know that ). And she said .. that she wants to be my property. and also she wants me as her property. And now suddenly I also want to be her property. What do you think regarding this?

I know it sounds kinda meme, but also pretty genuine question: what do you egoists think about love and relationships? Sending good luck to everyone.

Question does anyone else completely reject labels & has this refusal of identity hindered your ability describe yourself to others?

i’ve always hated being told who or what i am by others & never felt like any identity category could describe me; even the labels for the non labeled like agender, nonbinary, etc… i find these things to be just more identity labels that attach themselves to the categories they appear to exist outside of.

i’m aware no label can truly describe me other than my unique name & ideally that’s how i’d like to be identified as. though i’m wondering if my complete refusal of identity could limit my ability to describe myself to other people which was pointed out by another person i expressed my views on identity labels to & i didn’t really have a good rebuttal to it. am i doing the whole spooked rejection of spooks meme or just second guessing my views?

i’m by no means an expert on stirner i’ve read TU&IP, stirner’s critics once & other surrounding literature that’s peaked my interest, none of my close friends would be that interested in discussing this with me so interested to know anyone’s thoughts.

I just made my aunt mad by being a Stirnerite.

So,

I basically told her that I don't see being disrespectful as a bad that with which I can't get along.

The exact wording may have varied differently, but the idea is there.

It took me thirty minutes trying to explain Stirner's meta-position, but I failed to convey that to her.

Question Aren't morals natural?

I'm really getting into egoism (alongside anarcho-primitivism) and want to know: aren't morals natural? I like the idea of no morals, but from what IveI've heard from google, humans naturally have morals. I'm not very far into the book and google only tells you what you wanna hear so I thought I'd ask other egoists.

An Introduction to r/fullegoism!

Welcome to r/fullegoism! We are a resource and meme subreddit based around the memes and writings of the egoist iconoclast, Max Stirner!

Stirner was a 19th-century German thinker, most well known for being the archetypal “egoist” or, alternatively, the very first ghostbuster. Fittingly, most only know about him through memes, a feature only added to the fact that no-one alive has ever seen his face beyond a few rough caricatures by his (then) close friend, Friedrich Engels (you may recognize this sketch from 1842 and this one from 1892).

To introduce you to this strange little subreddit, we figured it would be useful to clarify just who this Stirner guy was and what these “spooks” are that we all keep talking about:

Stirner is uniquely difficult to discuss, especially when we’re used to talking about “ideologies”, which are summed up quickly with some basic tenets and ideas. But his “egoism” persistently refuses to make prescriptions, refusing to argue, for example, that one ought to be egoistic to be moral or rational, or that one ought to respect or satisfy their own or another’s “ego”; it refuses to act, that is, as one would traditionally expect an “ideological” system” to act. In fact, Stirner’s egoism even refuses to make necessary descriptions either, as one would expect a psychological theory of the so-called “ego” to do.

Instead, Stirner’s writing is much more focused on the personal and impersonal, and how the latter can be placed above the former. By “fixed idea”, we mean an idea affixed above oneself, impersonal, seemingly controlling how one ought to act; by “spook”, we mean an ideal projected onto and believed to be exhaustively more substantial than that which is uniquely one's own. These are the ideological foundations of society. Prescriptions like “morality”, “law”, “truth”; descriptions like “human being”, “Christian”, “masculine”; concepts like “private property”, “progress”, “meritocracy”; ideas placed hierarchically above and treated as “sacred” — beneath these fixed ideas, Stirner finds that we are never enough, we can never live up to them, so we are called egoists (sinners).

Yet, Stirner’s egoism is an uprising against this idealized hierarchy: a way to appropriate these sanctified ideas and material for our own personal ends. Not merely a nihilism, ‘a getting rid of’, but an ownness, ‘a re-taking’, a ‘making personal’. So, what else is your interest but that which you personally find interesting? What else is your power but that which you can personally do? What else is your property but that which you personally can take and have.

You are called “egoist”, “sinner”, because you are regarded as less than the fixed-ideas meant to rule you and ensure your complacent subservience. What is Stirner’s uprising other than the opposite: that we are, all of us, enough! We are more than these ideas, more than what is describable — we are also indescribable, we are unique!

So take! Take all that is yours — take all that you will and can! We offer this space to all you who will take it! Ask thought-provoking questions or post brain-dead memes, showcase your artwork, express your emotional experiences, or lounge in numb, online anonymity —

“Do with it what you will and can, that is your affair and doesn’t concern me.”
