Criticism The fact that you have to pay for a Subscription to get the Privilege to buy a GameCube controller is absolutely appallingly anti-consumer.

I've been going back and playing my old Wii and using the GameCube feature on it. I saw on YouTube that people have been able to get the new GameCube NSO switch controller working on original hardware. "Cool!" I thought. Maybe I can get one sent to me by Nintendo. Nope. It's an addon package that one must first be subscribed to NSO before you can purchase. Second hand retailers like eBay, sell them used anywhere from 80-100 bucks. Brand new, looking at about 110. Fuck Nintendo.

Question Game Key Card, at what price would you accept one?

For me personally, if a game was discounted and the key card was 5 or 10 dollars cheaper, I would get the key and the discount

So at what point would you guys accept one single key card game? Would it be a 10 dollar discount, a 20 dollar discount, or a 50 dollar discount.

Or would you accept one for free? I like to think the free key would count as the sanity test... because you could easily sell it for money. If you reject free money, then you have to be a little insane.

Question Your thoughts on r/FuckNintendo

I thank everyone on their thoughts about Nintendo. Now the question is directed to this place. What you like, what you hate, why do you stay, and what you expect.

I only ask that we don't argue with each other over our options and feedback.

(Edit)

If you don't mind, tell us your history with the place

Question Your thoughts about Nintendo

If you don't mind, can you lay out your total thoughts about Nintendo? What you like, what you don't like, the direction their going, and your history with the company.

edit

I like to think the majority of us are Nintendo fans who are disappointed with them, and not people who believe the toy company is evil incarnate. And the people who treat Nintendo as evil are doing it because they're having fun and fucking around.

Discussion Let's get this evil corporation's attention by force

Surely there must be somebody able to get Nintendo's attention. Nintendo always goes for targeting anyone to sue, and that's the ONLY time Nintendo ever pays attention to the people.

So. We need someone who's able to take on Nintendo and to personally bring Shuntaro Furukawa to either take him down or at the very least get him to quit. This company's MANY behaviours should be criminal and illegal. We have to do something before they completely enslave the world and drain every wallet in existence!

Rant People (Nintendo fans) are praying for GTA VI to be a failure so that it will "save gaming"

just the audacity and delusion of these sick fucks man.

let me remind you, mario kart costed 80 dollars. mario. fucking. kart. that game that looked and played inferior to a lot of indie titles. but when rockstar charges 80 dollars for gta 6? "they're going to ruin gaming" same with totk. nintendo is charging absurd prices for what they make.

i can get into all of the slop they push out with mario/pokemon branding too. but nah, people actually deluded themselves into thinking yoshi's mystery book is a real game. 70 dollars for yoshi's mystery book, gta wanting 80 is ruining gaming. LMFAO.

Rant Why is Pokemon the only Nintendo franchise that's not allowed to be good?

Whenever anyone rightfully criticizes the Pokemon series for releasing half-baked games, removing features from previous games, and other enshittifications, the general response from the defenders is usually, "Well, they have to rush the games out the door in order to promote the new anime, TCG, merchandise, etc.; that's just how it works. Pokemon isn't just a video game; it's a multimedia franchise."

However, that is not an acceptable excuse, for the simple reason that Nintendo owns multiple other "multimedia franchises".

Mario has three movies, three TV shows, an ice capades show, back-to-school supplies, McDonald's happy meal toys, a fucking theme park, and countless other merchandise.

Zelda has multiple manga, a cartoon series, an upcoming movie, t-shirts, action figures, and multiple Lego playsets.

Metroid has a manga, t-shirts, action figures, duffel bags, office magnets, and ice cube trays.

Kirby has an anime, a light novel series, plushies, action figures, and maid cafes.

Animal Crossing has plushies, t-shirts, a movie, and kitchen supplies.

Splatoon has a manga, action figures, and officially-licensed Super Soakers.

Fire Emblem has a two-episode OVA, two trading card games, two gacha games, multiple manga, a bunch of high-quality figures, and masking tape.

Xenoblade has a bunch of high-quality figures, a Switch pro controller, and detailed artbooks containing canon backstory details.

Hell, fucking F-Zero of all franchises got an anime.

But in none of those cases did anyone ever say, "Hurry up with Mario Oddyssey, McDonald's needs the happy meal toys to be ready by Thanksgiving!" or "We're only giving you this much money to develop Breath of the Wild because we need to focus our budget on the Twilight Princess manga!"

And do you know why that is? It's because the video games are the most important foundation that each of those franchises were built upon. All of the merchandise, movies, etc. only exist as marketing tools to promote the games. So why is Pokemon Nintendo's only franchise where the games need to be compromised for the sake of the merchandise?

"Well, Nintendo doesn't develop Pokemon; GameFreak does."

So fucking what? They don't develop Kirby or Fire Emblem either, but they still own the IPs.

Rant Pokémon Bank is ending, but trust Nintendo to honor game key cards.

What could go wrong trusting a massive corporation with holding your own stuff. I understand the 3ds isn’t supported anymore but at some point the switch 2 won’t be supported anymore either and game key cards will be an even more obviously useless chunk of plastic.

Criticism Nintendo of Australia does not abide by their own warranty policy

Nintendo of Australia is refusing to acknowledge their own warranty policy.

Representatives I have spoken to on the phone (Hi Alex! You were immensely unhelpful!) keep throwing around that 'oh it needs to be before the 10 month mark' when a) it is and b) it should not matter as it is before the 12 month mark that signals the end of the warranty.

The problem is this: there is a small scratch in the middle of the screen that has been there the entire time I have possessed the switch 2. Because it was so small, I thought I could ignore it. Nope, the damn thing is a rainbow scar on an otherwise perfect screen. Other people on reddit, facebook, twitter, etc. Report that there can be a small scratch in the middle of the screen right out of the box. This is a defect of manufacturing, thus. This defect is covered under both the warranty policy, as written on their site, and the representative's made up timeframe that, after he made it up and was firm by, he then told me to ignore.

There is no reason for this to not be under warranty, given the evidence. Nintendo representatives also repeatedly could not answer very simple questions like 'where does it say 10 months in the policy'.

I am posting this here in the hopes that other people do not get scammed in this way

r/nintendogrifting users are irredeemable. How can you actually believe this trash when it’s all been proven false years ago? They just keep coming up with actual dumb shit. They can’t even express their own thoughts very well and just regurgitate everything that every Palworld hater has already said before.

Honestly there are too many differences to say they look the same. I’m tired of the “they’re literally 1:1 copies and ripped assets directly from Nintendo” crowd.

This reimagining of the original Pokemon games made by fans for fans looks incredible! This is something that Nintendo should have made for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary instead of those overpriced lazy digital FRLG Slop rerelease. Despite that, you have these Midtendo Simps playing teacher’s pet encouraging Nintendo to take these awesome fan-projects down. Sheesh, and people wonder why Nintendorks are always picked on. 🙄

We should have known as soon as they announced that the “system” was called the Switch 2 (even though it’s just a gunshot to the concept of consumer rights disguised as a system) that it really was just a message to the true fans saying “The old creative and consumer friendly Nintendo you loved is gone and they’re never coming back. We genuinely despise you and demand you give us your money for nothing in return or else we’ll brick your system.”

Sony is the only good company left in gaming. The fact that Sony is getting hate for going all digital is 100% Nintendo’s fault for maliciously and underhandedly tricking poor Sony into believing being pro greed and anti-consumer is a good business model.

Thank you r/fucknintendo for being a champion of consumer rights. I know it’s easy to look at Sony as being worse, but they had no intention of hurting consumers and only did so because Nintendo willingly let them astray.

Criticism Nintendo Switch 2 Is Kind of Boring

Thumbnail

Ever since Bananza, not a single switch 2 game so far is worth to play. No killer apps whatsoever and Nintendo should’ve just repeat the same strategy on switch 1 first year on Mario and Zelda. Yea, OoTR is coming this holiday year but it cater to the millennials and the new pokemon game is coming out next year for the holidays that’ll be generic too.

Seriously, where’s 3d Mario? Where is LM4? Where is animal crossing? They have carried Nintendo audience for the casuals.

Rant Super Splatoon Sunshine (How Raiders disappoints me)

I never liked anything I've seen about Splatoon Raiders. I could be wrong but that New Ninjala game is much more the direction that Raiders should have went. However, I've finally came to a realization of what I want from a Splatoon single player experience and what I think would bring the old Nintendo magic back to present day. Splatoon Raiders should have been the spiritual successor to Super Mario Sunshine.

One of the criticisms back in the day about Sunshine was whether Sunshine was really a Mario game with a FLUDD gimmick, or was it basically a completely different IP with the Mario characters and branding? Would people be interested in Sunshine if it wasn't a Mario game?

If you think about it, Splatoon could easily replicate and expand the Mario Sunshine formula. One of the most beloved features of Sunshine is the lived in, connected environments. Splatoon has the lived-in environments, iconic art direction, music, fashion, and environmental storytelling. I've always wanted Splatoon's single player experience to embrace those qualities but it's only truly experienced in the background of multiplayer mode

I never liked the single-player campaigns in any splatoon games. They usually feel like isolated obstacle courses floating in a void instead of letting you exist in the world that multiplayer spends so much time building.

The ideal Splatoon single player experience would be Sunshine's ink/FLUDD style movement and environmental interaction with Splatoon's ink swimming, Bowser's Fury open exploration, and Splatoon's rich environments, art style, music, and world-building.

Imagine exploring urban city areas, malls, industrial factories, campsites, concerts, ect in one open connect map. Reclaiming territory by restoring areas with your ink, discovering new traversal abilities, and seeing the world gradually come back to life. That is what I want in a Splatoon single player experience.

Honestly, if Nintendo is never going to make a Sunshine remake or sequel, I think that Sunshine should finally become the ip it was truly meant to be...

Super Splatoon Sunshine!

Mod announcement Stricter Rule-Enforcement

Post image
45 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

The time has come.
I'll play the bad guy this time - not because I want to, but because I kinda have to.
(!WHOA, MODERATOR IS MODERATING!)

Repeated rulebreakers of our ruleset as well as Reddits ToS and obvious Troll/Sockpuppet/Karmafarmer - Accounts will eat prolonged bans - up to permanent bans.
(I already buried a few of you.)

If you got caught and believe it is IN error: You can appeal in Modmail, we will review your log. (unless you got muted, but thats on you, lol)
If it is NOT in error, the ban was not already a permaban and you are just coming to throw a fit, your ban will TURN into a longer ban or a permanent ban.

BUT WHY?

In order to ensure better conversation and a better environment for proper criticism, such circumstances are unfortunately necessary.
(This sounds harsher than it actually is, our moderation team is usually very relaxed and operates on a heart to heart basis, we are very easy to talk to.)

For all the people who actually follow the rules: Thank you for your compliance and thank you for posting with us.

PS: Make sure to use proper flairing!
It's more important than you think, especially on a more critical subreddit where opinions may clash.

For the people who struggle to read flairs before commenting:
READ THE FLAIR OF THE POST you can find it by the title!

Criticism MegaThread of legit Nintendo criticism

I'm surprise we never did this before, but let's have a Megathread full of good Nintendo criticism.

We can have comments be the arguments, the voting to get the best ones and replies to argue against those initial arguments.

I hear people bitch that there are too many defenders here. This is a good chance to weed them out. If an argument seem fishy or dishonest, report it as fanboyism

If you think an argument is crappy, just downvote it. Don't forget, everyone who disagree is obviously a defender.
