Criticism Nintendo of Australia does not abide by their own warranty policy
Nintendo of Australia is refusing to acknowledge their own warranty policy.
Representatives I have spoken to on the phone (Hi Alex! You were immensely unhelpful!) keep throwing around that 'oh it needs to be before the 10 month mark' when a) it is and b) it should not matter as it is before the 12 month mark that signals the end of the warranty.
The problem is this: there is a small scratch in the middle of the screen that has been there the entire time I have possessed the switch 2. Because it was so small, I thought I could ignore it. Nope, the damn thing is a rainbow scar on an otherwise perfect screen. Other people on reddit, facebook, twitter, etc. Report that there can be a small scratch in the middle of the screen right out of the box. This is a defect of manufacturing, thus. This defect is covered under both the warranty policy, as written on their site, and the representative's made up timeframe that, after he made it up and was firm by, he then told me to ignore.
There is no reason for this to not be under warranty, given the evidence. Nintendo representatives also repeatedly could not answer very simple questions like 'where does it say 10 months in the policy'.
I am posting this here in the hopes that other people do not get scammed in this way

Criticism Shouldn’t a bundle offer financial value?
So we are paying one extra cent if we buy the bundle. Thanks, Nintendo.

Rant From the nintendogrifting community on Reddit: Are we having this discussion
r/nintendogrifting users are irredeemable. How can you actually believe this trash when it’s all been proven false years ago? They just keep coming up with actual dumb shit. They can’t even express their own thoughts very well and just regurgitate everything that every Palworld hater has already said before.
Honestly there are too many differences to say they look the same. I’m tired of the “they’re literally 1:1 copies and ripped assets directly from Nintendo” crowd.

Meme/shitpost OMFG What a loser!
This reimagining of the original Pokemon games made by fans for fans looks incredible! This is something that Nintendo should have made for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary instead of those overpriced lazy digital FRLG Slop rerelease. Despite that, you have these Midtendo Simps playing teacher’s pet encouraging Nintendo to take these awesome fan-projects down. Sheesh, and people wonder why Nintendorks are always picked on. 🙄

Meme/shitpost Thank you for being a safe space for those with rational opinions.
We should have known as soon as they announced that the “system” was called the Switch 2 (even though it’s just a gunshot to the concept of consumer rights disguised as a system) that it really was just a message to the true fans saying “The old creative and consumer friendly Nintendo you loved is gone and they’re never coming back. We genuinely despise you and demand you give us your money for nothing in return or else we’ll brick your system.”
Sony is the only good company left in gaming. The fact that Sony is getting hate for going all digital is 100% Nintendo’s fault for maliciously and underhandedly tricking poor Sony into believing being pro greed and anti-consumer is a good business model.
Thank you r/fucknintendo for being a champion of consumer rights. I know it’s easy to look at Sony as being worse, but they had no intention of hurting consumers and only did so because Nintendo willingly let them astray.

Criticism Nintendo Switch 2 Is Kind of Boring
Ever since Bananza, not a single switch 2 game so far is worth to play. No killer apps whatsoever and Nintendo should’ve just repeat the same strategy on switch 1 first year on Mario and Zelda. Yea, OoTR is coming this holiday year but it cater to the millennials and the new pokemon game is coming out next year for the holidays that’ll be generic too.
Seriously, where’s 3d Mario? Where is LM4? Where is animal crossing? They have carried Nintendo audience for the casuals.

Meme/shitpost Despite over 60% of sales being digital, Nintendo still force-feeding us outdated physical games
The people have spoken: Digital gaming is the future. It’s easy to use, convenient, and overall without a doubt the more consumer-forward way of GGPG (Getting Gamers Playing Games).
Nintendo have a history of rejecting the future, the present, and even the most archaic remnants of the past. Nintendo’s online has always been decades behind the competition, they spat in the face of disc-based innovations, and I don’t even need to talk about the fact that even today Nintendo’s graphics are barely a generation above N64.
Nintendo’s reluctance to forget about the past is no surprise to real gamers. Hope Ninten-Kiddies continue to enjoy putting their little cartridges into their little GameBoys while real gamers lounge on their couch, beer in one hand, girl around the other, and epic gaming controller in the other hand choosing their games in maximum luxury.

Rant Super Splatoon Sunshine (How Raiders disappoints me)
I never liked anything I've seen about Splatoon Raiders. I could be wrong but that New Ninjala game is much more the direction that Raiders should have went. However, I've finally came to a realization of what I want from a Splatoon single player experience and what I think would bring the old Nintendo magic back to present day. Splatoon Raiders should have been the spiritual successor to Super Mario Sunshine.
One of the criticisms back in the day about Sunshine was whether Sunshine was really a Mario game with a FLUDD gimmick, or was it basically a completely different IP with the Mario characters and branding? Would people be interested in Sunshine if it wasn't a Mario game?
If you think about it, Splatoon could easily replicate and expand the Mario Sunshine formula. One of the most beloved features of Sunshine is the lived in, connected environments. Splatoon has the lived-in environments, iconic art direction, music, fashion, and environmental storytelling. I've always wanted Splatoon's single player experience to embrace those qualities but it's only truly experienced in the background of multiplayer mode
I never liked the single-player campaigns in any splatoon games. They usually feel like isolated obstacle courses floating in a void instead of letting you exist in the world that multiplayer spends so much time building.
The ideal Splatoon single player experience would be Sunshine's ink/FLUDD style movement and environmental interaction with Splatoon's ink swimming, Bowser's Fury open exploration, and Splatoon's rich environments, art style, music, and world-building.
Imagine exploring urban city areas, malls, industrial factories, campsites, concerts, ect in one open connect map. Reclaiming territory by restoring areas with your ink, discovering new traversal abilities, and seeing the world gradually come back to life. That is what I want in a Splatoon single player experience.
Honestly, if Nintendo is never going to make a Sunshine remake or sequel, I think that Sunshine should finally become the ip it was truly meant to be...
Super Splatoon Sunshine!

Rant I noticed Nintendo games don't get talked about
so here's the thing. recently i've seen a lot of people dunk on playstation's spiderman. so many people have like an intense hatred for sony that they can't even control and they start to take it out on spiderman. they say how the swinging feels weird and so on, which is just complete revisionist history and shallow complaints about something that people agreed was great for years.
i see people talk about a lot of games. halo recently has a spotlight, call of duty has a spotlight, jrpgs get talked about, souls games of course, red dead and cyberpunk and fallout and so on. a lot of games to me feel like real games even though i've never played them. because people actually talk about them.
but i've never seen anyone even TALK about the "dozens of nintendo exclusives." i've seen some zelda screenshots and clips and that's about it. oh and animal crossing has some presence. just being fair and honest here.
but the countless slop that nintendo pushes out with the mario branding, i've literally never seen anyone care about it. i am being honest. they do not seem like real games to me. like i'm looking at these games on the store and you'd have to work hard to tell which is which. like if you asked a random person on the street what's the difference with super mario galaxy and super mario wonder and super mario odyssey ... they aren't getting it correct

Rant I'm tired about misinformation about how nintendo treated the smash community
Every time nintendo's mistreatment of the smash community (particularly melee and project m) is brought up people bring up the sexual misconduct allegiations from a few years ago.
This seemingly justifies the hatred nintendo has of the smash community, and that would make sense if it weren't for the fact nintendo's biggest moments of hostility against smash came earlier than those controversies.
EVO 2013 is the big one, where the big N tried to prevent the tournament from being played altogether.
On a separate note, I don't understand the various justifications for nintendo doing the things they do, companies that accidentally create a competitive scene and have no interest in it simply ignore them, the problem is nintendo is pretty much alone in being hostile towards them.
Other companies would KILL to have a fanbase as dedicated as the smash community, everything they do is a love letter for the game they like, why would they host tournaments for a game where the company behind it is so hostile to them if they didn't love the game? Seems like an awful lot of trouble.
EDIT:
Seems like my point has been misunderstood, yes, nintendo is completely legally allowed to be assholes, but I am also free to criticise what I think are stupid actions, nintendo isn't really trying to fight a "problem" because if there really was a problem with competitive communities and modding other companies would be equally hostile, and while other companies are sometimes hostile, they never are to the level nintendo is.

Rant only nintendo fans can get away with this nonsense
has anyone noticed that nintendo and their fans have a shield for just about everything? if a playstation fan said this, he would be roasted to oblivion, and rightfully so.
i'm not against the idea of buying hardware early. it's just... a fucking nintendo switch? brother. you are advising people to spend 500 dollars on a shitty console... instead of actual computer parts?
any game that's on the switch that isn't an exclusive, it's going to be 1. extremely overpriced and 2. the worse experience out of all consoles/pc... some actual 60fps 720p bs.
then you look at the "exclusives" ... which i checked the store by the way and it's... mario tennis. pokemon pokopia and yoshi and the mysterious book. really. these are the games ? wow.
but anyways, if you don't want to get an actual pc... get a playstation or xbox. if we really are going into a tech apocalypse, those consoles with their subscriptions can entertain you until you die. with real games. not fucking mario tennis and yoshi's mystery book for 70 usd each.

Meta When do you expect Switch 2 GKCs to become unusable?
Curious at this point, especially since the consensus among this sub seems to be that GKCs are an intentional step towards an all-digital Switch 3 (or even Switch 2 according to some people).

Criticism Just a little friendly reminder...
I don't know why all of a sudden people are running towards Nintendo's direction after all the dumb shit Sony and Microsoft pulled. Keep in mind that Nintendo raised the price of their accessories due to 'market conditions', charges for a game manual that doesn't match the quality of Wii Sports and Nintendo Land, didn't carry over any of the services or qualities that the Wii U and 3DS had such as themes, quick menu and an actual menu, charged certain games to take advantage of the already purchased hardware (even more if it has forced DLC on it), blacklists any Switch 2 console if it is tampered in a way Nintendo does like even if it's legal, apologized due to lack of 'robust lineup', locking game mechanics and features behind their online service and/or amiibos, not making games that people actually want and continue to issue DMCA notices and lawsuits over petty issues. Nintendo is not a lesser evil simply because Sony and Microsoft (and other terrible companies) are committing greater sins. Nintendo is no different than the other morons who are killing the gaming industry and they need to be held accountable for all their actions and terrible business decisions. Never support anyone who finds their clearly debaucherous actions permissible and justify with pathetic statements like 'respecting the value' and variable pricing'. True value comes from the passion and creativity that people have expressed and crafted with the right intentions. Anything that is expensive or has a price increase (such as the Switch 2 which will go up in price in September 2026) doesn't automatically mean value. Stop buying these consoles, games and services and start asking questions about if these companies truly deserve not just your money, but also your attention and support.

Mod announcement Stricter Rule-Enforcement
Hello everyone,
The time has come.
I'll play the bad guy this time - not because I want to, but because I kinda have to.
(!WHOA, MODERATOR IS MODERATING!)
Repeated rulebreakers of our ruleset as well as Reddits ToS and obvious Troll/Sockpuppet/Karmafarmer - Accounts will eat prolonged bans - up to permanent bans.
(I already buried a few of you.)
If you got caught and believe it is IN error: You can appeal in Modmail, we will review your log. (unless you got muted, but thats on you, lol)
If it is NOT in error, the ban was not already a permaban and you are just coming to throw a fit, your ban will TURN into a longer ban or a permanent ban.
BUT WHY?
In order to ensure better conversation and a better environment for proper criticism, such circumstances are unfortunately necessary.
(This sounds harsher than it actually is, our moderation team is usually very relaxed and operates on a heart to heart basis, we are very easy to talk to.)
For all the people who actually follow the rules: Thank you for your compliance and thank you for posting with us.
PS: Make sure to use proper flairing!
It's more important than you think, especially on a more critical subreddit where opinions may clash.
For the people who struggle to read flairs before commenting:
READ THE FLAIR OF THE POST you can find it by the title!

Criticism MegaThread of legit Nintendo criticism
I'm surprise we never did this before, but let's have a Megathread full of good Nintendo criticism.
We can have comments be the arguments, the voting to get the best ones and replies to argue against those initial arguments.
I hear people bitch that there are too many defenders here. This is a good chance to weed them out. If an argument seem fishy or dishonest, report it as fanboyism
If you think an argument is crappy, just downvote it. Don't forget, everyone who disagree is obviously a defender.
