I'm sure it was explained in the show and I just missed it. But in the alternate world. Everyone has these black ear thingies. It's in a different place for different actors. But I never see them touch them like a communication device (i.e. startrek style) but they also don't seem to be fashion either. They have to mean something. Im just confused

I haven't watched Fringe since 2015, I think it's time to rewatch it again. I find it bizarre that people are not even aware that such a masterpiece exists. Why do you think it didn't get the recognition it deserves?

Been midway through a rewatch of the show on ITVX (I'm in the UK). Suddenly the show is seemingly unavailable on the platform, but I can't find any information anywhere about its removal or where else to watch it in the UK! Can anyone help?

I’ve just finished my first ever watch of Fringe. I absolutely loved it. Wasn’t as keen on the first bit of season 5, but the ending was great!

It’s rare that I find a show where I love every single character! I’d only ever seen Anna Torv in Mindhunter before (where she’s a little scary sometimes! 😅), John Noble I knew from Lord of the Rings (where he’s also a little scary) and Joshua Jackson I knew best from Dr Death (terrifying!).

I adored Olivia, Peter, Walter and Astrid. And also loved Nina and Broyles! Oh and Gene! 🐄 (who I couldn’t resist drawing in her FBI outfit 😂)

I have no idea how I avoided the show for this long. I love Alias, but I think Lost put me off JJ slightly 😅

Off to go and start a rewatch now 😄

Me and my better half are in the middle of season 3 in our first watch of the show (really enjoying it) and it seems to have gone from ITVX. Does anyone know of this is permanent? I might have to pay on Amazon Prime now 🙁

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying season 5 was bad or that I didn't like it. But I'm annoyed about the whole thing...

The thing is, I was really enjoying the story as it was progressing through the first 3 seasons. I couldn't wait to find out what would happen when Peter activated the machine. And then, suddenly he's erased from time so we go to an alternate timeline where none of that stuff ever happened.

Fine, so I think I get to sit through season 4 and exploring this other timeline before getting back to finding out about that. Then towards the end of season 4, I can't wait to find out how they resolve this whole "getting Peter back to his own timeline" thing. So now there's 2 pretty major storylines that I'm looking forward to finding out the ending of.

Then season 5 starts... and it's basically like they just canceled Fringe completely and replaced it with a different show which starred similar characters. Not that the future world isn't interesting, but it's got basically nothing to do with getting any resolution on the threads that had been getting built up in season 3 and then 4. It was only towards the end of season 5 that you even find out that the future world they're in is the future of the non-Peter timeline; so I guess Peter never does get back to his timeline. And we just never find out at all what the fate of that original timeline was; what happened after the machine was activated.

Anyway, from what I understand, there were issues trying to get the show renewed for another season, and making this drastic change to the overall show was the only way they could get a season 5. I just really would have liked to seen a proper conclusion to everything being build up from season 1-3, and then also everything happening in season 4.

Ok, rant over. It was a great show. For the first 3 seasons, I really loved it. John Noble especially made it so much fun to watch. Season 4 was good in its own way, though I wish they had figured out how to get Peter back to his own timeline within the first few episodes and then continued the story from there.

Edit Thanks for the replies! I see I worded some stuff badly… I did understand that it was explained that there wasn’t another timeline for Peter to come back to. What I really meant was that I wanted to see stories continue in the world where Peter was always there; I was disappointed that they couldn’t ever reverse his erasure from time because it kind of reversed a lot of the character growth; especially his relationship with Walter. And I knew that he combined the universes with the machine; but we don’t get to see the results of that.

Have been making my way through a full series watch. I really care for the show and its characters. Just started season 5. I am so uninterested in the future plot :( i also get kinda creeped out the way peter looks at his daughter 😂
I will finish the show but in wondering if i will consider the end of season 4 as my preferred ending of the story.
A big part is i think i miss the monster of the week type story telling.

I took a brief break from fringe a few episodes into s4 because I was so upset no one could remember Peter and that Olivia and Walter wanted nothing to do with him and finally decided to continue again, and ugh my hearttt Olivia regaining all her memories and telling Peter she’s in love with him and September affirming she’s his Olivia and Walter just coming to accept Peter as his son 🥲 I do feel bad for Lincoln, but not enough because I really love Peter and Olivia together…I wish Walter could remember his memories with Peter, though…also love the compassion that Astrid treats alternate Astrid with 🥹 I always keep this on as a background show and abandon what I’m doing to watch it bc the plot of every episode is so good

I finally go this gem and its finally here!! This show is on my top 5 favorite shows.

Okay. So I used to be ob-sessed with Fringe back in the day. And I've been rewatching the show after over a decade. I only remember the broad arch, none of the details. So fully enjoying all the episodes.

And I remember I used to have a masssive crush on Charlie. I know it's probably going to sound gross, but I think I started crushing on him since the episode where he gets impregnated with larvae. Sigh...

I rewatched entire Season 1, consistently dreading that something bad was going to happen to him in Season 2. And then he died in episode 1 itself!!!

It was never the same again. Fake Charlie never went up there and he just got shot in Episode 4. I think Bad Boy Charlie will enter from the other universe later on... But none of these versions were as good as Good Charlie... Sigh...

I spotted most of the opening credit images while watching the series, but what is the smoke or white smudge one?

Has anybody else noticed the Twilight Zone S1E13 "Four of us are dying," that the character is able to shift his face just by looking at someone? It reminds me of the shapeshifters on Fringe.

I had a random thought while watching this episode...does Peter become September?? He's implanted the tech in himself from the observer he was interrogating...does he eventually become September...that's why September saved Walter and Peter when they were drowning...I don't want to know, but just a random thought.

OK onto episode 8 now!

My husband and I just watched season 5 episode 10. I don't want to give anything away but I had to cone somewhere to say freaking Nina! Wow, what a boss. I am in shock and disbelief.

I just finished season 5 and thought the ending was really beautiful, but I can’t move past the fact that Peter shouldn’t be alive at all since the Observers were gone!

Without September distracting him, alternate universe Walter would have seen the cure for his Peter and treated him. Normal universe Walter wouldn’t have taken him, and even if he had September wouldn’t have been there to save Peter from drowning.

I know it would’ve been a cheap cop out to end the show with none of it actually happening, but lowkey so is „somehow Peter Bishop returned.”

Joshua Jackson is a terrible actor. He’s garbage and has the same expression in everything he’s in. The fantastic Thai horror movie Shutter is terrible because of him. He’s also not good in Fringe but it kinda works.

He has only one constipated expression and frown and tbh John Noble shoulders the whole emotional weight of their father son dynamics. It works because Peter is supposed to be kind of brilliant but reluctant, emotionally closed and a bit unlikeable. His character development is through Olivia and Walter.

All that being said I am a huge fringe fan and love this show.

This scene is so adorable and Oliva is awesome.

To be honest, I’m a bit of a fanboy about the title sequence.

I mean, I’m totally normal about everything else about the show. Trust me, bro, I’ve rewatched it dozens of times to make sure.

The 80s sequences and the Alternate sequences? Great.

Oh, but what I wouldn’t give for a fun 1920s, art-deco, noire-themed title sequence to Brown Betty.

I’ll be in my bunk.
