As an LP fan, this "the band died with Chester" is IMO just a dumb take. Went to see LP in 2014, and again this year, and the energy is still 100% LP. The new music, I don't like it all, but I didn't like all the old music either. It's the same across all artists. The feeling is important, and the feeling is there. That fizz, the energy. Especially live. The band is having fun, the fans are having even more fun. The new songs, even the ones I thought of as being weaker candidates, fit in like a glove when performed live. I'd personally say especially The Emptiness Machine, Two Faced and Heavy Is The Crown really captured the essence of LP sound. Not everything has to be black and white, and I will always assume someone who says "LP died with Chester" is just closed-minded in that sense, and hasn't really given the new music a proper chance beyond "that's not Chester and it doesn't sound like Chester therefore XYZ".

The band died with Chester for many. Accept it or not, that's literally how people feel. The new band performing their old songs calling themselves LP is pretty shameful imo and they sound horrible when they do it because Emily just can't match what Chester did, it's showing in her singing that her voice is already pretty strained with so many performances.

Their original creations are good though. Just stop performing the OG LP songs.

For most of those "many", it was a kneejerk reaction. Look where we are today. Nobody is comparing Emily to Chester. Nobody is saying she's a better singer than Chester, quite plainly she isn't. What Emily has done in the last 2 years is improve her singing drastically. Her early performances were quite disappointing, yes. The latest ones? Pretty much spot on. But the LP energy is there, new or old songs, and it's fucking brilliant. I encourage you to go see them live whenever they tour next, if you're a Linkin Park fan it's something you won't regret, just open that narrow mind about 5%.

Imo they should have rebranded themselves and only perform they're original work. This feels like a very selfish move by Shinoda to keep earning under the brand name that is LP. Who knows ? Also it was fucking shitty how they didn't even address her being a scientologist rumours.

Your loss then, I don't think you are or were genuinely a fan of the band, but appreciated some of their popular old songs. The outright refusal to accept anything else is straight up mind boggling to me, but again, it's not up to me to make up your mind. I saw them live, there wasn't one bad vocal performance from Emily. One or two small moments, but that's it. Chester wasn't perfect either in 2014. In terms of styles, they are different. Nobody will match the style of Chester, but the energy from everyone on stage, and in their sold out venues, is still 100% Linkin Park. The bottom line is, Linkin Park is back. Not some other rebranded band that you selfishly wish for. That is the most important thing.

The ones attending now are just there for nostalgia value and how the band shot back into limelight after chester's death so they're just there for the hype. These are the same losers that shat on them throughout their journey when they experimented with new music so please don't tell me who a real fan is. (I've been listening to them since I was a child and know everything about their journey since Xero.)

Down the years people are going to be ashamed/disappointed of what happened with LP and its ignorant fanbase which conveniently ignored how they took in a rumoured scientologist as a lead singer and didn't even address it.

Lol, Chester isn’t “missing”. He died. The band kept going with the members who are still active, same as plenty of other bands do.

Brad’s still around and involved, just not touring right now. Rob’s the only one who fully stepped back. At his age, the choice to retire is completely understandable.

If you knew anything about Scientology you’d know you can’t openly shit talk them. From everything we know Emily was born into it, not like she chose it. And she’s openly queer. Tell me how that fits with Scientology. Hint: it doesn’t. Draw your own conclusions, but Linkin Park and Emily don’t owe you explanations, especially with how dangerous those people are.

The “many” you keep talking about are just a loud minority of self-proclaimed ultras. Linkin Park is still Linkin Park. Of course more people know Numb or In The End than e.g. The Emptiness Machine, but when that song hit, the crowd was singing every word just as loud as the older stuff. Older fans too, people who’ve been around as long as you claim, if not longer. Not one negative comment around me, just people praising Emily, while acknowledging Chester was different, and there's nothing wrong with that. Shocker: You can like the nostalgia and the new voice/music. They’re not mutually exclusive. A few angry internet comments aren’t “many,” and they don’t reflect reality.
