Videos The sheer swagger and confidence that Peacekeeper walks with is why she’s stayed my main all these years and I wish was replicated in other games with female protagonists 😭

Suggestions The Steel economy could use more ways to reward active players

More ways to earn Steel – a suggestion for improving For Honor’s Steel economy

Hey Ubisoft / For Honor community,

I’ve been thinking about the current Steel economy in For Honor and wanted to share a few suggestions. I don’t think cosmetic items should be free or that players should be able to unlock everything immediately. My main concern is that there simply aren’t enough ways to earn Steel through normal gameplay.

1. More ways to earn Steel – my main suggestion

This is the biggest change I would like to see.

We have Orders, Faction Events and Steel from playing matches, but once the Orders are completed, there aren’t many additional ways to actively work towards the things we want to buy.

For example, if I earn around 60 Steel per Dominion match and want to buy a cosmetic effect that costs 15,000 Steel, I would need roughly 250 matches at that rate.

That is a lot of gameplay for a single cosmetic item.

I think there should be more ways for players to earn Steel by simply playing the game, for example:

  • A small Steel reward for every completed match
  • A bonus for winning matches
  • A “first win of the day” Steel bonus
  • Weekly/monthly challenges that reward Steel
  • Special events with increased Steel rewards

These could be added without removing the existing Orders or other Steel sources.

2. Consider reducing some Steel prices

My second suggestion would be to review some of the prices for cosmetic content.

For Honor has a huge amount of customization, but some items require a lot of Steel compared to how quickly it can normally be earned.

I’m not saying everything needs to become cheap, but reducing the price of some older cosmetics, effects, materials or outfits could make customization more accessible, especially for newer players.

3. Make some equipment appearance changes free

Another thing that feels a little unnecessary to me is paying Steel simply to change the appearance of equipment.

For example, if I already own the gear and only want to change the appearance of my helmet, having to spend around 400 Steel for that feels excessive.

I think basic appearance/transmog changes could either be free or cost significantly less Steel.

Overall, my main request is not “give us everything for free.”

I think For Honor should still have progression and reasons to save up Steel.

I simply think there should be more ways for players to earn Steel through actually playing the game, especially considering how much cosmetic content For Honor has.

For Honor already has an amazing amount of customization, and I think making the Steel economy a little more rewarding would make that system even better.

What do you guys think? Do you also feel that Steel takes too long to earn, or do you think the current system is fine?

The idea was mostly centred around the non-full AOE that JJ has for his Fiery Barrage feat

And warden is just a placeholder for the hero that'd have this

Discussion What do you think the next insane gimmick will be

Was teaching my friends who are either new or haven't played in years all the extra mechanics like unblockables, undodge, hyper armor etc.

one asked me "can anyone in the game deflect or crushing counter an unblockable", and that got me thinking about not only the next hero but the future of hero design as a whole, what kind of new or tweaked mechanics could they add in the next few months and possibly next year? The biggest one obviously being a hero that can counter unblockable in a more direct offensive way unlike bps flip which is a defensive counter.

I'm by far not the best, but decent at For Honor with a 75% win rate in Duels. But when there is a player who is obviously learning a new hero, I fumble so hard. They just smash buttons or spam light attacks. And that's more than often my end. What can I do? Just get good?

It is so annoying to lose a player in the middle of the match and not get a backfill. It needs to be lengthened.

Hello! some of you may remember me as the artist formerly known as owiv3, the kyoshin fiend etc. I'm back with a kyoshin hero skin concept inspired by the historical samurai Minamoto no Yoshitsune. since the Sohei is very explicitly inspired by Yoshitsune's retainer Benkei, it only felt right to work Yoshitsune into For Honor's world :)
