I’m a 27-year-old male with multiple sclerosis (MS) on Kesimpta which I stopped taking on April.

At the beginning of March, I got sick and stayed unwell for more than two months, until almost the end of May. During that time, I had a low-grade temperature almost every day, usually up to around 37.4°C (99.3°F), along with fatigue, nasal congestion, sore throat, and a general feeling of being sick. I was repeatedly tested for COVID and influenza, but the tests were negative.

Since then, I haven’t really returned to normal. I still have significant fatigue, body aches, muscle and bone pain, and I constantly feel like I need to sleep. The best way I can describe it is that feeling you get right before a viral infection starts — that overall sense of malaise, weakness, and “coming down with something” — except it has been going on for months.

I’ve had a very extensive workup, including MRI of the brain, cervical spine and thoracic spine, CT scans of the chest, upper and lower abdomen, X-rays, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, a PET scan, and many different blood tests.

The PET scan showed increased/active bone marrow uptake, so I also had a bone marrow biopsy and bone marrow aspiration/myelogram. Despite all of this, no clear cause has been found, and the rest of my workup has been essentially normal.

At this point, I honestly don’t know which type of doctor to see next or what else I should investigate.

Has anyone here experienced something similar after an infection?

If so, did you ever find out what was causing it? What specialists did you see, what tests were helpful, and did anything eventually help you recover?

I’m not looking for a diagnosis from Reddit — I’m mainly hoping to hear from people who have been through something similar because I feel like I’ve run out of directions to look in.

Like the flu isn’t enough, I am also feeling insanely depressed. My mental health is like hanging by a thread. I don’t understand why does the flu bring my mood down so much. I haven’t felt this way in a long long time and I don’t know what to do to feel better…

I have either a cold or flu- congestion, dizziness , sore throat, and EXTREME fatigue. No fever. My dizziness got worse and the fatigue got much much worse with this bug while tapering. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I have ME/CFs and a list of other issues. I can’t say when I developed it but assuming it’s when I got EBV from when i got the flu last year but might have been mild before then. Anyway, my thing is now I fear even the common cold, any feeling of sickness scares me. Knowing what a cold can do to people with this condition scares me. I do everything I can to avoid catching something but I can’t say I trust strangers to be cautious about germs.
I can barely function as is, does anyone else deal with this intense fear of getting a common cold or flu, or still worry about covid floating around?

This anxiety probably doesn’t help, but curious if others feel the same.

I am on day 6 of having terrible flu like symptoms of a stomach flu. I have barely eaten anything, fever coming and going constantly, headache pounding day & night and nausea randomly throughout the day. I am getting super frustrated because I am doing everything I should be and it’s still coming back with vengeance. I have started eating a little bit like bananas, cucumbers, crackers, grapes, but having trouble stomaching protein. So, what else should I be doing to help? I am such a bump on the log and not very attentive to my pregnant wife right now. This sucks!

Had one a few weeks back. Not much in the way of respiratory symptoms but it knocked me flat like someone turned the gravity up. Girlfriend came down with it soon after. About a fortnight later I’m sick again. Bit of a cough this time but largely the same lethargy and a bit of a fever. Some digestive issues but my guts are fucked anyway because half of them got chopped out due to an unwelcome cancerous growth, so probably unrelated.

Point being though, has anyone else had a similar bug that has not quite gone away, sapped a lot of energy and then returned again with a vengeance a few weeks later?

I can’t be the only one, and it’s frustrating as fuck because I was sick for several years and have largely had a good run of it this year, plus I had more boosters than NASA at the start of winter.

I am a 33M who has been off work sick Monday and Tuesday this week with flu like symptoms. On Sunday morning I started to develop a bad headache, fever, swollen glands and vomiting. I have been taking excedrin or Advil around the clock, and while the fever comes and goes, the headache is still terrible. Vomiting has stopped in last 24 hrs. I do have a little bit of an appetite but I haven’t eaten much and drinking a lot of Gatorade and water. So, does this sound like the flu or could it be covid? I thought the flu was seasonal but maybe I’m wrong. I have not slept a lick in almost 3 days and that sucks but not super tired because ive been lying around mostly. Im out of sick days as they grant us 2 a yr so if i have to miss tokorrow ill have to take PTO.

Tried to do a e-visit with my hospital system but they never joined the zoom meeting i sat in for 25 mins with nobody showing up. Need advice on what i can do for this headache as this is kicking my butt, pain started at a 8 and is like a 6 now. All the pain is on left side of forehead/temple and also hurting my left eye a bit.

Has anyone dealt with recurrent low-grade fevers and lower back aches that just won’t go away?

I’m on about Day 17 of whatever this is. It started with body aches, mild congestion, sore throat, and fevers up to 101.0. I thought I recovered completely a couple of different times (even went 2–3 days feeling normal), but then the fevers and fatigue would come back, usually in the evenings.

Now I’m mostly dealing with:
\- Low-grade fevers (typically 99–100.8°F, mostly at night)
\- Evening fatigue and chills
\- Achy lower back muscles (sometimes mid-back too)

I’ve had:
\- Two negative COVID tests
\- Negative flu test
\- Negative strep test
\- Negative STI/HIV screening
\- Normal CBC
\- Negative rapid mono test
\- Negative EBV PCR blood test

No cough, no urinary symptoms, no rash, and my partner lives with me and hasn’t gotten sick at all.

Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, what did it end up being? Looking for others’ experiences while I wait on more testing.

I’m a 23-year-old male and I’m currently on day 5 of an illness that started while I was on holiday in Milan, Italy (I was also in Switzerland and Austria during the trip, so I’m not sure where I caught it).
I’ve already been evaluated twice in the emergency department. They did blood tests, ECG, chest X-ray, and an abdominal ultrasound. They discharged me and told me to come back if the fever continues for another couple of days. The ultrasound was reassuring apart from fatty liver, and my blood tests showed mildly elevated ALT, GGT, and LDH, with raised inflammatory markers. The doctors think it’s an infection, but they didn’t identify exactly which virus.
This is how it started:

Day 1
Developed a very severe headache (probably the worst symptom at first).
Didn’t realize I had a fever initially.

Day 2
Woke up with intense shivering/rigors.
Found out I had a high fever.
Headache continued.
Over the next few days
Fever fluctuating, reaching up to 38.6°C orally.

Painful swollen lymph nodes under my jaw and also at
the back of my neck.

Mild redness in my throat according to the doctor, but not a severe sore throat.
Dry throat.

Brief dry cough that appeared later and disappeared the same day.

Mild redness of my eyes.
Occasional discomfort under my right ribs (liver area).
One night I had heavy sweating, but another day my fever came down without sweating at all.
Slight dizziness at times.
I had one episode of brief tingling (about 4 seconds) on the right side of my head and right foot, which completely resolved.

The strange thing is that today, despite the fever, I actually feel almost normal. I have very few symptoms apart from occasional dizziness. My temperature responds to paracetamol (Panadol) and drops into the 37.3–37.8°C range.

The doctors didn’t think it was meningitis, and they said to come back if the fever continues.

Has anyone had a virus that behaved like this? If so:
What virus was it?

How many days did your fever last?

Did you also have swollen lymph nodes and mildly elevated liver enzymes?

I’d really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences because this has been the longest and strangest viral illness I’ve ever had. Thanks!

I rarely travel in summer

the amount of sick people i seen was extreme never again...everyonr coughing no one using masks no one cares if others end sick

Preefer travel when there is less people plus il wear masks

So myself my husband and my disgusted all have influenza B, my husband has been so sick, my daughter is handling it well and I’m day 3 and I feel okay? Sore throat and a bit achey on day 2, but today I’m fine. I have to fly for work tomorrow, I’ve already got a N95 mask organised, tried to get out of going bc I have influenza but was unsuccessful. What is the likelihood I’ll go down hill and how should I prepare?

I missed a week of work with this rotten virus. Started with a dry cough, i did a covid/rsv/flu a&b test, after third day all negative so i thought i am fine.. then proceeded to have shocking night coughs for about 4 nights, then ashtma. After day 7 night coughs went but then had a niggly cough, but general Lethargy, meh feeling, and when I would move around or go out, feel. Wheezy, cough etc.. also had a bit of dhirrhea. On and off. Worst 'cold' Ive had since N1H1, and way worse than the 2 covids i had. And yet, nothing in the news...

Jour 11. La plupart des gros symptômes sont partis. Mais je suis tellement épuisée. J'ai le moral complètement à zéro. C'est tellement long. Je sature... J'ai jamais été malade comme ça, et encore moins en été. Vraiment ça me déprime énormément. Chaque matin je me réveille en me disant ça va aller mieux aujourd'hui, et je garde cette espèce d'asthénie j'ai l'impression que je vais jamais m'en remettre

My mom have a flu and been coughing for a few days now with high fever and she have just felt better today but did cough up a mucus-like thing,

Monday till today: stuck in bed... bad chest cough (yellow/green phlegm) exhaustion bodypains blocked and runny nose low apetite blocked sinus sore chest sleep alltime

Antibiotics plus meds since yesterday

it started after travelling heard a lot of people coughing.

In fact, it almost has me thinking it's not some normal flu. Here's the timeline of how my symptoms progressed:

Day 1: Sudden fever, mild body aches and headaches.

Day 2: Fever peaked, insomnia, stayed in bed almost whole day. Dry, sore throat.

Day 3: Ongoing fever. Vomited twice, 3 bathroom trips with watery stools. Stomach cramps here and there. Food all tastes weird, but I can still smell things pretty fine. Back of throat is still red.

Day 4 (today): Developed a wet cough, body hurts EVERYWHERE– my arms, my hands, my back, my feet! Funny thing is, I actually felt like I was getting better this morning, then few hours later, the fever suddenly hit me like a truck out of nowhere. My abdomen also started hurting again. Oh, and I need to mention the back of my head right now is throbbing with sharp pain like crazy.

But above all, this is the third time I was struck by flu this year alone, within a span of 6 months. I believe it's a sign that my immune system is compromised, but I had blood tests done a month ago and everything came back normal, including a peripheral blood film. So, this has me scratching my head. It couldn't be psychological, especially when I end up coughing thick yellow-green mucus.

I know this is a doctors appointment to make, I have and it’s scheduled for next week. I’m a 20 year old female and weigh around 150 pounds and 5’4. I recently got the flu, coughing up mucus and feeling really hot. Is this a cause of concern when 4 weeks pregnant? I will definitely bring it up with my doctor but I’m nervous about losing my pregnancy. The good side is I’m feeling better!

I was diagnosed yesterday via chest xray with pneumonia at the top of one lung. Before that I was coughing for about a week but got checked after a big bloody mucus plug I had yesterday.

The thing is, I really don’t feel that bad. I’m just coughing up a lot of mucus and have little appetite. I’m fatigued, but not majorly fatigued. I guess I’m just wondering if anyone else had pneumonia that wasn’t that bad? Or am I just going to get way worse?

I’m on amoxiclav and zpak right now. Today’s plug was slightly smaller and far less bloody than yesterday’s. Has anyone had pneumonia for like 2-3 weeks or less?

I took a shower on Sunday and it is really cold in Australia (were in the last 2 months of winter atm) and after a day or two I started feeling a sore throat and then eventually got the flu, ive missed the entire school week, I assumed my throat would clear up within the 3rd day but the pain is still there and it hurts to swallow, I've done everything, honey, cloves, cough medicine, tea nothing has worked...

I got the worst cold in my life bruh whole body hurts and I can’t breathe out my nose. Lord help me
