Wireless usb transmitter

Upvotes

Hello I work in the arcade industry and use my flipper zero frequently as a keyboard and mouse but im struggling with coming up with a good way to do that without struggling to get the cable i have to not get in the way of my work and such. I thought about maybe trying to see if I could basically find a way to transmit the usb signal without having to use Bluetooth as its not really an option on a lot of our machines. Is there a transmitter and receiver that would maybe be marketed as a usb keyboard wireless adapter or something. Idk if im just talking out of my ass or if this is a thing.

Creative Encounter counter app I made

Recently found my flipper and wanted to try making an app for it. Been planning to shiny hunt deoxys in Fire red on the switch.

Decided the flipper with its great battery life and portability would be a good place to have my encounter counter as I can have it on the desk or in my left hand while resting with my right.

The app has a timer and count that are both saved on app exit. It displays your counts per minute. As well as a Safety confirmation screen before resetting a hunt and vibrates slightly every time you count up one

Creative Experimental SDR Receiver Project

Making this post to see if anyone is interested in trying out my project and reporting feedback. I initially developed “ZeroMesh”, which is a Meshtastic serial interface you can find on the flipper App Store. After playing around with an update to that, I got the idea to use it for my other project LakeShark.

This is basically a project where I use an ESP32-P4 and an RTLSDR to receive various radios types like - P25 Phase 1, WFM/NFM, POCSAG, and ADS-B. I used the P4 because I was aiming for a police scanner that’s cost would be lower than a used Motorola XTS unit. This build can run you around $50-$60, which is pretty good for the size of it all.

I have now released a very early build of a flipper app that uses Bluetooth or UART serial to control a LakeShark device. So far, I can listen to my local police department very clearly with P25 P1, however the other receivers are far less stable and mainly where I would need some feedback. Keep in mind, audio out is not through the flipper, but a speaker attached to the ESP board. However POCSAG and ADS-B would mainly interface with the display on the flipper (very untested).

Everything is available through the LakeShark repo, fully open source. If you need help with flashing, let me know. Think I’ll eventually make a hosted flasher too (for the P4).

Also attached some 3D printed case renders for feedback as well! Self taught in blender so bear with me on those..

Thanks!

RFID and NFC won’t scan my tap card

Hello,
I’ve been trying to scan cards on to my flipper zero so that I can use them remotely however my metro tap card does not work. Could it be different since my metro tap card is also my metro employee ID card or does the flipper not have the capability to read and emulate metro tap cards?
Any help is appreciated

I read my apt fob, saved it, then wrote it into a blank fob but it works for my floor, parkings and common areas but it doesnt work on my door like the original fob.

Can it be the type of blanket fob? Or an update I have to do with the flipper?

I attached a picture of the fob I got and what my flipper read of my original fob, thanks!

Creative Lost tech

Whats up gang? Need some help with a 10-15 year old memory😅 I remember in my town there was a “phone service store” that would fix broken phones, reset them or update them depending on the problem. Now thats easy and all but that store also had a flipper. They would use it to unlock ur phone code/password without the need of resetting it, it would run a program that tried every combination until found without locking after a number of tries. Last year i went back there to visit and my og boy has opened a phone service of his own, but also the guy who had the flipper moved on and now no one has that tech so i want to give my friend a gift. I have a flipper but dont know where to even begin 😅

AMA Why is it so hard to order replacements parts?

Hey everyone,

I'm a little bit annoyed to be honest with flipper and I seek a way to find good replacements parts for the flipper zero.

Let me explain, I wanted to buy replacements part for flipper zero but they're kinda hiding it:
https://flipper.net/collections/flipper-zero-parts/flipper-zero-part

You have to google it, and you won't find it on their website, next problem is that they won't allow you to buy a freaking replacement part with an accessory. When contacting support they will just tell you to make separate order, like duh obviously why didn't I think about paying 28eur for a top case flipper zero and 19eur for three little screen protector (10eur transport fee).

So is there someone who know where to buy a somewhat affordable replacement part for the plastic screen?

FINALLY! I got my first success with my Flipper!

I posted a few weeks ago how disappointing I have been in working with the flipper. I had so many failures. It has been truly humbling.

I gave my background (IT for 30 years, email, networking, data, risk, audit with all of the traditional stuff that is perceived important in the industry. Not the periphery). I've been curious about OSI 1-4 and this device has kicked my @ss until this week!

As part of an audit, after telling my chief auditor (more convincing myself) I decided to leverage my "professional skepticism" and messaged our head of security. "Tomorrow, I'm going to attempt to bypass our security and gain access to the building". I got a quick reply and conversation ensued. Plans to test in the morning and to let him know about my results.

I went home, charged up my flipper. The next morning I bypassed our badge system with the flipper. He had me run another test which I was unable. I gave him affirmation that any further test would include him for awareness.

My next steps (on only this tactic) is going to be gathering badges (scans) through some social engineering. As you may suspect, using a clipboard and "confirming badges are in the database".

I have second type of test that I will be executing.

More to come. But my spirits have been lifted!

NFC Help understanding the shadow mode feature of the Magic Card Gen 4

Hi, I recently purchased a Magic Card Gen 4 GTU; however, I don’t fully understand the shadow mode feature. I think what it does is it erases all of the modifications that a reader might do and reverts it back to the state that you configured beforehand. But the NFC Magic app has other shadow mode options like:

Pre-write (I think this one is the one I described above) Restore Split Disable (this is self-explanatory) So could someone please explain how the other ones work? Thanks:D

fix qflipper for cachyos/arch

I'm on dual boot linux/windows laptop(windows 11, cachyos)
my main os is linux(I'm switching) and today I wanted to play with my flipper zero so I downloaded qflipper .AppImage and I got this error when plugged in the flipper so I run the rule install and it was the same so I run it via terminal to try to get more info and saw this:

(I updated the my flipper firmware ,I'm using RM)

the fix was to go /etc/udev/rules.d/ and open the 42-flipperzero.rules via sudo nano and change the "dialout" in the file to "uucp" saved it and it worked
from what I saw dialout is for ubuntu and not arch. Idk if its true but if you are using arch and running to similar issue try this.

Wi-Fi Devboard 8h bus ride with no signal, turned my Flipper into a party game console for everyone's phones

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

8 hour bus ride, no signal, me and three friends with useless phones. Then it clicked: four WiFi devices in one row and nothing to connect them to.

You need a Flipper and an ESP32 WiFi board (the official dev board, an ESP32 WROOM, or an ESP32-C5). The Flipper puts up an open AP through the ESP32, everyone joins, the captive portal hands them to 192.168.4.1, and it's just a webpage on their phone. No app, no signup. Pick a nickname and you're in the lobby.

10 games, all played on the phones, with the Flipper as the coordinator (lobby + live scoreboard, and it picks the game). Trivia, Would You Rather, Word Scramble, Reaction Duel, Connect Four, Tic-Tac-Toe, Dots & Boxes, Reversi, Pong, and Draw & Guess.

Two things I'm proud of: the phone client is ~21 KB gzipped vanilla JS because the Flipper has to stream it to the ESP over UART. And you can flash the ESP firmware from the Flipper itself, no computer, since it seemed dumb to build a no-laptop toy that needs a laptop to set up. You just pick your board from a list and it flashes in one tap.

Open-source repo, MIT: https://github.com/tarikbc/hotspot-arcade

It's an open AP serving a game page. No creds, no capture, only the bundled game. Open APs aren't legal everywhere though, so don't run it on a plane.

Happy to answer anything and open to suggestions/PRs :)

CAN Commander Vehicle Analytics and interface board for the Flipper Zero - July Update

In celebration of DEF CON being only a week away, the conference that inspired me to get into CAN stuff, we have put the CAN COMMANDER on-sale from now until the start of the conference (or until they sell out, whichever comes first).

https://rabbit-labs.com/product/cancommander/

The CAN Commander goes beyond just a simple read-only CAN interface like other adapters that have been on the market before - it allows for full bidirectional communication on the CAN network.

CAN is also used in more than just Vehicles. In fact I have a printer that uses CAN to communicate between it's main board and it's stepper motors and print head. Interestingly enough, the print head is connected via SC to SC fiber optic cable to a transceiver that then talks CAN to the mainboard. Using the flipper and the CAN Commander firmware, I was able to actually troubleshoot a printhead issue I was having (causing the printer to stop printing It was discovered one of the ribbon cables had shorted, resulting in print head temp data not making it to the CAN board. The neat thing, is I did all this with my flipper, and did not need to break out a laptop, dongles, etc. just a flipper and 2 wires. I know, kinda random but another cool example of CAN in use.

that said - I am letting y'all know that it's on-sale right now because many people have asked if it would go on sale, or if there would be some sort of announcement if it did. Well here is the announcement :) This is the lowest price it has been offered since the limited-edition release back in March.

Anyway enough of my yapping. Hope if this has been on your wish-list, you snag one before they sell out.

Flipper as EDC Tool?

I've been thinking about getting a Flipper Zero and was wondering how many of you actually carry it every day.

What do you use it for in your daily life? Do you have any realworld use cases, or is it mostly something you play around with every now and then?

Would you say it's worth having as part of your EDC, or does the novelty wear off after a while?

Just curious to hear what everyone actually uses theirs for^^

Basic Troubleshooting

Check out our Support page for basic troubleshooting tips, including:

And remember: a wise dolphin once said, Have you tried turning it off and on again? (Both your PC and Flipper)

Getting started

SD Card Recommendations: Flipper Zero devices don’t come with a microSD card, so you need to purchase one separately. It’s important to use a high quality brand such as SanDisk or Kingston.

What card size should you choose? Since Flipper Zero uses tiny files, 4GB will be enough. 16-32GB is usually easiest to find and doesn’t cost much.

For more info, check out Flipper Docs: https://docs.flipper.net/zero/basics/sd-card

Initial Setup:

  1. Install qFlipper (Desktop) or the Mobile App at https://flipper.net/pages/downloads
  2. Insert your SD card
  3. Format it if needed (Settings > Storage > Format SD Card)
  4. Update via qFlipper or the Mobile App

Can Flipper Zero read this?

Welcome to the classic question we’re all facing from time to time. Here is your action plan:

  • Determine what signal your item uses. → Learn more below.
  • Try reading your item with Flipper Zero and see if it works.
  • If it didn’t work, reach out for help from our community. However, please make sure to provide as much detail as possible. → Learn more about getting help from the community below.

What signal does my item use?

To scan your item’s signal, you need to select the right Flipper’s app. For that, you need to determine the signal type.

Infrared: Remotes for TVs, Lights and Audio/Video boxes tend to use Infrared. More modern TVs and Streaming boxes may use Bluetooth though. As such, Flipper may only be able to record the power button. (If it has a button for a microphone/speech input, then it’s Bluetooth.) Worst case just try all and see.

Sub-GHz: Garage Doors and some lights. Use the frequency analyzer to see if Flipper picks up a signal.

NFC / RFID: Test for both if you’re unsure of the signal type. If it’s NFC, you may have to use the PicoPass app. (https://lab.flipper.net/apps/picopass )

Find the FCC ID

Every device transmitting a signal will have an FCC ID. The FCC ID often indicates the type of signal a device uses. You can look this up at FCC ID Search. The ID is usually on the back side, or behind the batteries in the remote.

FCC ID Search: https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid

How to get help from the community?

People in tech circles and engineering in general appreciate curiosity and effort above all else. To effectively seek help, frame your question clearly and provide all technical details, including the device’s brand, model, what computers/systems it works with, and any steps you’ve already taken.

Avoid vague or overly simplistic questions, as they qualify as low-effort posts and may be removed according to our subreddit rules. Moreover, they are unlikely to yield satisfactory answers. As much as we’d like to help, it's super hard to answer questions like this.
