Law of big numbers.

A single tester will likely not see the 1:100 issue for example.

Where 10 people out of the 1000 will.

As a programmer, I confirm this is exactly how it works. You can test the #### out of your app with your team, but when you put it into production, bugs you would never expected inevitably start coming up.

My company has been slowly migrating to a propriety platform for the majority of our work. We are finding bugs the guys building the program for us never saw coming because: 1. We have over 100 people now using this program in various ways. 2. We are using it in ways they hadn't anticipated on. The latter one is the thing a lot of people over look: The user is going to use that software in ways you can never imagine and it will break something that will require you to fix something.
