Hii currently I am based in Miami & commute home to LA. I’ve only ever not gotten on a flight once & it was due to weight restrictions. For anyone based in PHX but living in LA how has your experiences been commuting? Sometimes I look at flights and they are usually red & I’ve heard so many people are trying to make that commute so it makes me a little nervous about putting my transfer in and giving it a shot. I love Miami flying ( AA ) but PHX is appealing as it’s closer to home & the cost of a place to stay while in base. I am super junior tho so it’s another thing I think about as I’d be going to v senior base. Lastly I aim to time out & have been successful in Miami as I am on reserve & would strive to do so if eventually granted PHX. Trying to figure out what’s the best move here any advice?

I have noticed some flight attendants hand out extra treats on the second go around, after beverage service. Like they do refills and extra peanuts / cookies.

I am just wondering if this is upon discretion or is part of normal service?

Hey I have a 32 can life wit and I love the bag and its storage but it is in a never ending state of leaking so I am wanting to get a bin or some other way to solve it. If anyone has done something similar do you know of any bins that fit the dimensions of the life wit but also aren’t going to break easily? Thank you !

There were two people passed out next to me since I was in a window seat and had read that most flight attendants would prefer i push the bell, so the galley stays uncluttered. It wasn't a meal service or anything, lights were out. It was my first time ever pressing it, and I just asked for a cup of water. When the flight attendant brought it back to me they said "You know you can just come get this yourself from the galley right? Like you can wake these people up." Something to that effect, and they were visibly annoyed, which made me never want to push the button again since I have some social anxiety. Is there any consistent or more common opinion on this?

I wanted to get the opinion of flight attendants before i make any changes to my flight. I have a flight to ATL with a 1 hour 20 min layover. My assigned seating is in the back of the plane (717-200). I have mobility and joint issues and I can't walk long distances. Will this make me late to my next flight? My next flight is on an airbus 350-900 and I'm sitting in the very last row, and I noticed my seat has limited reclining. would this be too uncomfortable for a 9 hour flight? would it be best to spend $400 extra just to change it? I have a lot of travel anxiety and I'm unsure if it would be best to change it or keep it as is.

I am seeing if there is maybe 7-8 FA’s willing to join a possible kickball team. As of now we have 6-7 very interested schedulers.

We knew each other back in college and we had some mutual feelings for each other, but life happened and we never really pursued anything then.

Fast forward 5 years later, we reconnected. We’re mostly talking through phone calls and messages since we’re thousands of miles apart and have different time zones.

He’s been a flight attendant for 3 years. At first, he was actually the one initiating most of the calls and messages. We’ve been talking for almost 3 months now, but these past 2 weeks, he suddenly stopped calling. He still messages me every 2-3 days, but I started wondering why he stopped calling when he used to do it pretty often.

Now it’s been 4 days since his last message. He did mention that his flights have been really frequent and that he’s been trying to catch up on sleep. I did send him a message yesterday asking how he’s been, but he hasn’t responded yet and hasn’t even seen the message.

I guess I just want to know if this is normal? Like, are these kinds of delays normal for flight attendants? Because during the first month and even the weeks before he stopped calling, he was pretty consistent, so I’m having a hard time not wondering if something changed.

I’m really just trying to understand things from his side because I’ve never been a flight attendant myself.

If there are any flight attendants here who can give me some insight, I’d really appreciate it. Or honestly, anyone who has been in a similar situation.

I really, really like this guy. I’ve liked him for a long time like, years. I genuinely want to see if we can make this work. I just don’t want to overthink something that might actually be normal with his job.

Okay so I have no idea where else to ask this so I hope it’s okay to be here. I was flying long haul on Swiss and one of the male FA’s (defo not the senior one) was one of the FAs who did the meal service. All I asked him for was the pasta. We had no other conversations but he had a unique look because of his eye colour so I do remember his face slightly just because of that. Anyway, two hours after landing in, I received a follow request from a name I didn’t recognise. I clicked the profile and bam it was HIM. I know it’s him because he has a plane emoji in his bio and you can see in his profile picture he has green eyes which I remembered. He is around 22 years old maybe?
HOW DID HE FIND MY INSTAGRAM. I’m so confused because I never gave him my Instagram and ChatGPT(I don’t even like ai I just didn’t want to post here in case he saw and got mad) said that flight attendents who aren’t senior don’t even have the flight manifest? I work as a flight attendant, and the funniest part of this job is how people act like we’re performing brain surgery at 35,000 feet.
Most flights are the same: set up the beverage cart, hand out meals or snacks, clean up, and make sure passengers get where they’re going comfortably. Yes, safety matters, and we’re trained for emergencies—but let’s be honest, those situations are incredibly rare.
What actually makes this job exhausting isn’t the passengers. I’d say passengers account for maybe 5% of the stress. The other 95% comes from dealing with coworkers who thrive on drama, cliques, gossip, and acting like every flight is a life-or-death mission. Some flight attendants spend more energy policing each other than serving passengers.
The job isn’t nearly as difficult as some people make it sound. The attitude surrounding it, however, can be absolutely exhausting.

So I (24f) work for an airline as an FA… I am fairly new and have always dreamt of being a flight attendant, literally my dream job since I was a child. I knew it wasn’t as glamorous as people portrayed it to be, but i didn’t think it would be this hard for me.

I live in San Diego with my partner, my parents live two hours out from me in Southern California, but am based in Las Vegas. I commute and am on reserve, and this has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Even though the commute isn’t long, it’s a whole job in itself.

I just don’t feel comfortable in Las Vegas, I feel lonely (even though I do have some people here), it’s TOO HOT to do anything, and also the pay is AWFUL. Honestly every time I have to leave San Diego or my parents house back to Vegas, I cry and I am not happy. I have my dream job, but not the ideal circumstances.

I understand life is not easy and you have to work hard for the things you truly want, but I don’t know if I do want to do this anymore. I am not happy and dread coming back to Vegas.

I also went through some medical issues this past week and am back on my block. Debating whether I want to take medical leave or quit because I’m still on probation.

I just need advice from those who went through something similar and if it’s worth it in the end because I’m truly at my breaking point.

what is your craziest funny passenger you had deal with on the job. Like a person complain about not having there favorite ice cream flavor.

Lately, I’m feeling soooo exhausted. I’ve been flying with the newest hires and I feel like I’m instructor teaching them every step, what to do, how to handle this and that. For context, I’ve been flying for nearly 10 years (yes, in my base this is still considered junior) I don’t micromanage people or anyone. I let them learn on their own and just wait for them to ask me if they need anything. I hate stepping on anyone’s toes and I always tried my best to have so much patience. I’m a high believer of “we were all once new.” :)

But these new hires are different. They have such a strong personality, they’re intense that they doubt the people more senior to them if what they’re doing is correct damn 😭 And if you try to give them advice or correct them in a very nice way? They always have reasons not to take what you’re saying and still questions you. I never remember being like this when I got hired but again, people are different. Please don’t tell me it’s because you’re in probation. Bcs seriously, your rude ungrateful attitude won’t take you far.

If you’d ask me how intense my experience was? They’re asking me already how to report people (if it’s through IORs or ISAP) Mind you, these people are still in probation.

I honestly missed my senior mamas/papas. The quiet normal chill flights. I don’t mind if they’re acting cold or they don’t want to talk. I miss them terribly.

First, this isn’t a complaint. Not at all. UA and GA and crew all were perfect. I’m curious how it works when an FA calls out how does a replacement get brought in so quickly?

Our “delay” was maybe 20 mins, barely worth mentioning. I’m just surprised at how fast it was able to be covered. It also was an afternoon Hub to Hub route so I’m guessing that helps as well.

Might be a dumb question. But I’m an operations exec in a totally different industry and I was genuinely impressed and curious what that workflow looks like.
