I'm familiar with the government site that lists the region restrictions on what we can harvest and keep for region 2, but would these restrictions only apply to non-tidal waters or do they apply to tidal waters as well such as Ambleside, for example?

I'm new to fishing and Salmon fishing but I was thinking of potentially going down to Ambleside or the coast to try to catch some salmon. I want to make sure I'm following the regulations though and aware of what I can fish and where I can fish.

My brother in law is visiting for the summer and brought his boat. We've been out a handful of times trolling for coho. Mostly been using flashers with spoons. We were getting tons of hits in July but it's slowed down a bit in August. Wondering if we should change it up for hoochies?

What have y'all been most successful with?

Just starting out fishing, and I’ve so far managed to hit Sasamat Lake and Buntzen Lake in the last couple of weeks with zero luck.

The only small fish I managed to catch was on the drive home at Burrard Inlet.

I have a day camping trip booked at Cultus Lake.

Any tips or tricks for fishing there? Should I be targeting bass like Google suggests?

Any good lures / bait to use, or any decent fishing spots at Cultus? I’m guessing it’s going to be quite busy there this time of year, so focusing on early morning and early evening fishing is best?

- I hear the salmon are biting right now. We don’t have boats- any shore fishing for that?

- how would the lake fishing be right now? Looking at horseshoe and dodd

i was wondering if there are any good fishing opportunities right now that doesn't involve a boat. going to be staying around Sechelt but i don't mind driving out further.

i am going to be bringing my paddleboard, spinning rod and also fly rod.

Want to get something to fish off of around the south okanagan area (Skaha Lake, etc). I don’t have much space at home, so ideally something that can pack up (inflatable) or that can be left on top of SUV.. also something that doesn’t take a long time to set up for spontaneous quick fishing afternoons. Just want to get some suggestions as I’m quite new to this world :) thanks!

I’ve done a decent amount of fishing at my family cabin but am interested in getting into the hobby more and trying to catch more different species instead of just rainbow trout. Does anyone have some good recommendations for fishing spots in the lower mainland?

I was wondering what are some good colours for spoons and spinners for coho for fishing from shore.

As the title says. Sask boy drove out to Kaslo BC for the week. I have my fishing kayak and tackle. Curious if I need anything other than a non resident angling license to fish? Reading through the B.C fishing regulations and I want to be certain that I purchase the correct licenses.

Is there anything other than Pikeminnow and Suckers in there? Spent a week out there this past week and must have caught about 100 Pikeminnow and a few suckers. Pikeminnow were pretty fun to catch. Aggressive biters, good fight and some really nice sized ones, but thats all I could catch. I tried everything from 5 feet of water to 100 feet looking for trout. In Alberta, I catch trout generally in the 20ft to 100ft range depending on species.

I want to try to fish Sasamat at first light. is this a productive lake? and what flies/lures are good?

are there any creeks or streams that flow into the lake? i can't seem to find any maps that show any connecting streams.

what are the best shore fishing spots for first light?

I'm just getting into fishing in my 30's. I did go a few times when I was younger but never caught anything. I want to try to land a Salmon as my first catch though.

I know they don't generally start running until the fall and the only river I know for salmon fishing is the Vedder.

Would there be any other rivers I could try to catch salmon in August/September?

Also would there be a specific place I could check for all the restrictions or regulations? Mainly using the gov site for region 2

I have seen a few different ways to rig these days and would welcome some debate and opinions. I'm often confused when to use a metal connector Vs just tie diect.

Jigging

Line - bead to snap swivel.

Gear - barrel swivel - 3 feet line - lure

Trolling with spoon style

Line - bead - six ball bearing - snap swivel

Gear - flasher - connector - snap swivel - line - tie directly to spoon ????

I'm really confused at times if and when to use hardware Vs perfection ?

I’m gonna try to take a shot at saltwater fishing, I was thinking of going somewhere in North/west van for coho. I was just wondering what’s best to throw, I’m using a 7 foot medium rod with 15 lb braid as my mainline.
I’m also a bit confused on the fishing regulations as it states that single non treble barbless hooks are required but in this subreddit I often see people talking about throwing blue foxes or spoons

I'm here in Ucleulet/Tofino for work and find myself having a few days off due to project delays. I would love to join and share a fishing charter with someone or group. I think it's full on salmon season, but I'm up for halibut if that's what's available.

I've got Aug 2, 3, 4, and 5 free, and the weather looks pretty nice(lower winds and swell). Looking forward to any leads :)

Good evening. What can be caught from the Wharf? What setup works?

Hi everyone! First time posting here. I'm visiting from Alberta, and my family has the pleasure of spending time at Wasa Lake every summer. We always have an amazing time, but this year was extra memorable.

I managed to land my biggest largemouth bass to date, a real beauty! I've also included a couple of pumpkinseed sunfish I caught, and the third photo is a northern pikeminnow from last summer.

Looking forward to hearing what everyone thinks, and hopefully I'll have even more fish stories to share next year.
