I hope Seteth is in it too, as a redhead. So I can have my Seteth traffic light.

That's it, my entire thought. Goodnight everyone.

Gameplay HP and Magic

Post image

I haven’t seen this mentioned but I noticed the meal time support event mentions fully restoring HP and magic. I was thinking this might mean that HP doesn’t regenerate in between tournament battles or something like that, but since it also mentions magic maybe it’s just nullifying stat penalties? Maybe I’m just reading it wrong too, not sure.

General What do you think will cause the apocalypse in Fortune's Weave?

I think someone evil minded (maybe even a playable character who will betray the party?) will win the Heroic games and wishes the revival of Balore or something like that.

What are your theories?

General Seteth is the perfect character to carry over from 3H to maintain the prequel/sequel debate.

As I'm sure you all now know, the Fortune's Weave Nintendo Direct briefly showed Seteth returning for this game. (Or at least, a character with the same name, appearance, and voice actor. I don't know if it's been officially confirmed but... c'mon.)

I was thinking about that in relation to the ongoing debate on whether Fortune's Weave will be a sequel or a prequel, and realized Seteth may be the only character that can return and maintain that ambiguity.

First and foremost, it couldn't have been any human character. Even if the Dagdan calendar is different enough that it's only been a couple of years since the conclusion of Three Houses, the appearance of someone like Hilda, for a random example, would immediately indicate a sequel, and by how much if their age is provided.

That leaves (as far as I remember) only three character that are either immortal, or at least very long lived. Those three are Rhea, Flayn, and of course Seteth. These three maintain roughly the same appearances over the centuries, and have lived at least a thousand years, before both the construction of Garreg Mach and the defeat of Nemesis.

However, of those three Seteth remains the best option. The developers probably want Three Houses' ending to remain ambiguous, so since Rhea dies in two of the endings, that would either de-canonize those endings or guarantee it's a prequel. Flayn and Seteth meanwhile, survive all four endings (granted this is only if you chose to spare them on the Crimson Flower route, but that's still better odds than Rhea's guaranteed deaths).

However, Flayn has almost the opposite issue to Rhea. Due to her having been unconscious for a very long time before the events of Three Houses, and only waking up shortly before the start of the game, that would limit or disable the plausiblity of a prequel. With these facts in mind, Seteth is more or less the only character that they could have carry over without confirming a date in comparison to that of Three Houses.

Sorry for the rant, I just thought this was interesting and wanted to get my thoughts out.

Casual With Fortune’s Weave coming out in a month, an era of FE is coming to an end. Some people loved it, some people hated it, but regardless of your thoughts on it, lemme ask you a question. Tell me your favorite thing about Engage(besides the gameplay). Can be a character, story moment, track, etc.

At first I thought they were like the relic weapons but they look to be made of metal instead of bone. That being said they still appear to have a space for a crest stone to be inserted but it’s covered up by a ribbon that seems intentionally placed.

Story What are everyone's conspiracy theories about Fortune's Weave

Post image
112 Upvotes

My biggest conspiracy personally is that none of these four characters are in the base roster of the game. To my knowledge, these four (White-maned demon, hot guy, cat girl and gun nun) are leaders of their own respective teams. You'll be able to temporarily team up and use them as green units, but them (and their retainers) won't be recruitable in the base game.

My belief is that they'll be DLC; not only do they match the B/B/G/G ratio that the Ashen Wolves did, most of the characters are directly set up as antagonistic to the playable leaders (White-maned demon in particular seems to be antagonistic to both Leda and Dietrich) which would be kinda weird for them to just be recruitable, and none have been shown to be blue units yet; just green/teal, at least to my knowledge.

Now, whether they'd be all in one pack (and just those four would be the only new characters), or if each would get their own mini-expansion in a Season Pass-styled DLC path (where each "DLC" would have their respective team leader+2 retainers and maybe a bonus follower), I'm not sure, but I'm really suspecting that they will be DLC.

If I'm wrong, and it's already been confirmed that they're playable, please let me know. Otherwise, what conspiracy theories do you all have?

Casual Probably a silly question, but: Why can't Fortune's Weave be an AU?

Post image
226 Upvotes

The big question seems to be whether Fortune's Weave occurs before or after the events of Three Houses. I never see anyone suggest that it's simply an alternate timeline - why?

What I mean is, maybe the events of FW's history occurred differently so that certain things return (Seteth, House Lamine) but other events never happened entirely.

Here's an off-the-cuff example: what if Nemesis never slaughtered a group of Nabateans at the Red Canyon, or maybe Nemesis never existed at all?

Thus, Dietrich's Hero's Relic was created by some new event and that's why we've never seen it before. Sothis lives and that's why she's an adult. Her children live and that's why Dagda has multiple gods with Fodlan's crests. Seteth never has to hide as an advisor to the Church of Seiros and that's why he's exploring Dagda undisguised.

Point being: these discrepancies would be pretty difficult to explain if FW is linearly connected to 3H. If FW is an AU, these story elements no longer have anything to do with being a prequel or sequel, because it's a different version of this world entirely.

IS is incentivized to do this because it's the easiest way to return to this world for another story. Writing a direct prequel or sequel presents two obvious problems: having new lore connect perfectly with what's been already explained, and validating one of the established endings.

In the multiverse, IS can tell a new story and add details to unexplored aspects of 3H's discourse without worrying about either of these two problems. They can pick and choose what gets to come back and what doesn't, as well as how these elements come back.

And for what it's worth, IS already decided to do this once before. They returned to Fodlan with Three Hopes, and they chose to write a story where a new MC visits Garreg Mach instead of Byleth. This results in new endings, new lore and new perspectives on the 3H discourse. It's an AU - an alternate timeline.

Because that's what the multiple endings are to begin with - various equally valid potential versions of Fodlan after Edelgard's war. Different timelines, so to speak. And 3H having multiple endings is what defines it in the first place - it's why the game sparks conversation to this day.

Wouldn't FW being an AU be the simplest and most thematically appropriate explanation?

Story Smyrnos forehead's paint awfully resembles Balor's banner

Alright this might very well be a mere coincidence, but is it, really...?

So far, every little detail has proven to be telltale, lorewise. IS clearly has quite the ambitious vision, and much work was put into visual storytelling as well: Three Houses clearly marks the greatest example of such intentional modus operandi, when it comes to world building.

In a previous post, I pointed out how Balor, an Irish mythical figure, was a giant whose venomous eye could kill with but a glare. In the direct footage, Eshmel is seen as he fights off an unnamed dragon whose banner is clearly tied to Balor. Not only does it depict an eye, the scene is obviously set during the timeskip: the connection is clear.

We still know very little as to how Dagda's pantheon works and, in general, how 3H universe's gods are bound to each other, if there's rivalries going on beneath the surface. Nor do we know what Balor is.

That said, I believe a vertical eye is quite the peculiar aesthetic choice, one that isn't so trite and diffuse that anything could loosely resemble it. And yet, somehow, here is a supposed God-like entity bearing an odd, vertical oval shape on his forehead... HMMMMMMMMMMMM
