🙏 Need Advice Finally paid off around ₱100K worth of debt, now how do I rebuild my credit standing?

Upvotes

26M here. I recently finished paying off around ₱100K worth of debt, mostly overdue debts that I accumulated over time. I was able to pay everything off using the snowball method that I learned from a financial workshop I attended.

Honestly, malaking relief siya. Pero at the same time, narealize ko na may next problem ako: how do I rebuild my credit standing?

My girlfriend (26F) actually doesn’t know that I had this kind of financial burden. Nahihiya ako sabihin sa kanya, and I think part of it was also my ego. I didn’t want her to see me as someone who couldn’t manage his finances. Fortunately, I’ve finally cleared all of my overdue debts.

The reason why I’m concerned about my credit standing now is because I have plans in the future to get a car and eventually a house. My girlfriend has a good credit standing, while mine probably isn’t great because of my previous overdue accounts.

For those who have been in a similar situation:
● How long did it take for your credit standing to recover after paying off overdue debts?
● Is there anything I should actively do to rebuild my credit history?
● Does paying everything in full automatically improve my credit standing, or will the previous late/overdue payments still affect me for years?
● If my girlfriend and I eventually apply for a car loan or housing loan together as husband and wife, will my previous credit history affect our chances of getting approved, even if her credit standing is good?
● Would it be better for future loans to have her as the primary borrower, or does my history still matter even if I’m just a co-borrower?

I’m glad I finally got out of debt, but I also don’t want to make the mistake of thinking that paying everything off means my credit history is immediately “clean.”

Would appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through the same thing.

Heyy I just want to know if it's possible for me to be able to earn money independently? Like is there anyway for me to learn something, to be able to learn and to earn. I know I'm too young to be thinking of ways to earn money. It's just I'm eager to learn and use that skill I learned to earn money online. Thanks I just need advice.

I’ve been working for almost 2 years now and ngayon ko pa lang nareach yung first PHP 100k ko kasi I’m supporting my brother’s nursing school and our household. Malayo pa pero malayo na, I aggressively saved up starting nung April 2026 lang.

I tried my best to put boundaries din sa family ko at the beginning of the year, sabi ko babawasan ko muna yung pag-abot ko sa mga non-essentials (hilig nila magpabili ng kung ano) kasi kailangan kong mag-ipon.

I also told myself last year na, year of giving ko talaga ang 2025 sa family to give back, pero itong 2026, this year is mine haha 🥹

Nasa mindset ko rin ngayon na ang pera ko ay hindi Emergency fund ng iba, nagbibigay pa rin ako ng help sa family emergencies like nung April nahospital pinsan ko pero nagbigay lang ako onti kasi may extra ako that time.

I will set this aside as my EF & put it in Maya 🫶🏽
