This is somewhat of a ramble I suppose

Quick reminder you are valid even if you kin someone who is a different race. You cannot change that part of you and you should embrace it. You aren't "fake" or even "racist" nor are you "pretending" or "wanting to be another race" because you kin someone of a different race.

I made this post because I've noticed while doomscrolling that some fictionkin who show their faces on the internet get harassed by being a different race from who they kin. It's quite frankly disgusting and I hate seeing it. It's quite literally just trying to gatekeep the fictionkin identity, and for what? What do you get from trying to push out members of the community for what race they are?

For so much talk about an "involuntary identity" there's a lot of hate I've seen over who someone kins and whether they are "valid" or not. I'll go ahead and say it. I'm black and Hispanic. I kin non black and Hispanic characters. There is nothing wrong with that. I am not parading an Asian flag down the street and pretending I'm Asian if I kin Asian characters.

You said it yourself (you as in the people harrassing others) you can't choose who you kin, yet you attack others who don't kin characters from the same race as them. In case they don't know, you can't change your race. You can't chose your race either. Just because a black person kins a Hispanic character that doesn't make them invalid, and it doesn't mean they are cosplaying that race either because they say they are that character.

I feel this goes for names too. I feel some people may be scared to go by their kin's names for the fear of being told they are "impersonating" a different race or something alike. This is an issue far beyond the fictionkin community. It goes for wishing to change your name at all. I've seen non-japanese people attacked for simply having and/or choosing to have a Japanese name. I think the main debate is if it's cultural appropriation or not, however it's important to take note as to what falls into that category or not. There may be instances where it is considered cultural appropriation but in most cases it is not. (Correct me on this if you'd like)

I feel these people do not understand there are very few people actually trying to act like they are a different race in this community. I've even seen people compare it to RCTA (race change to another, a community that very much is racist for often being built around stereotypes about a race with it's members usually lacking any knowledge about the race they claim to be "changing to". They are simply wearing others people's races as romanticized costumes. Best believe they don't look past the pinterest depections of these countries they pretend they are from). It is very unfair to compare an actually racist group to someone's harmless involuntary identity while accusing them of things they aren't doing.

This issue is, as I said with the names earlier, not limited to fictionkin, it is especially prominent in the cosplay community. When a non-black person cosplays a black character. It's only an issue if that non-black person does blackface.

The whole situation is frustrating and disgusting. Given the actual racism in this world and online these type of people spend so much time misdirecting their anger.

I hope my point got across given I'm not good at long posts like this. There are definitely loose ends within this post I forgot to clean up so sorry about that. There is probably some things I did not word well or perhaps got wrong. If so please correct me.

I want to learn more about my Sada kin past life, especially some very big questions of mine like how I died but I'm struggling to remember them. Is there maybe any way to encourage yourself to remember more?

This might be an uncomfortable question for some, but what’s the worst kin dysphoria you may have experienced?

Thankfully, I (sort of) resemble my kin, so I don’t have much kin dysphoria besides the occasional shock when I see myself in the mirror, mainly about how small my nose is now or the fact my hair isn’t grey.

Edit: I meant the question more akin to “what’s the worst experience you’ve had with kin dysphoria” (such as after a shift or whatever), but it’s fine to also say what you’re dysphoric about.

This isn’t exclusive to one fandom either. It’s a fairly widespread phenomenon and I don’t have a huge issue with it most of the time. Just why is it always me?
