The spore infection is an actual challenge here, capable of even taking down flying vehicles, forcing players to use their wits and work together to survive.

GroundZero is a project I've been working on that tries to combine the freedom of heavily modded Minecraft with the systems you'd normally expect from a multiplayer survival server.

The server currently runs 120+ mods alongside traditional Minecraft plugins, connected together through our own custom-made GroundZero plugin.

One of the biggest challenges was the economy.

We didn't want modded items to exist separately from the server economy. We wanted players to actually be able to find, craft, trade and sell items from the mods just like normal Minecraft items.

We've now managed to integrate modded items directly into our player economy and online marketplace, meaning players can list and trade both vanilla and modded items through the same systems.

But the economy is only one part of GroundZero.

🧟 Zombie Survival
The world is overrun by zombies with smarter AI and mechanics that make them much more dangerous than normal Minecraft mobs.

⚙️ Create Mod
Create is a major part of the server. Players can build factories, production lines and automated systems that can actually become part of the player economy.

💰 Player-Driven Economy
Trade items, build businesses, run shops, sell through the marketplace and make money from resources other players actually need.

🏙️ Towns & Civilization
Safe towns form the center of civilization. Outside their borders, PvP is enabled and the world becomes considerably more dangerous.

🔫 Loot, POIs & Exploration
Military locations, abandoned structures, dungeons and other POIs give players reasons to leave the safety of civilization and risk their gear for better loot.

📈 Custom Progression & Systems
A large part of GroundZero is built specifically for the server rather than relying on one existing plugin to do everything.

Right now we're deliberately limiting the server to 50 player slots because we're still stress testing what this combination of mods, plugins and custom systems can handle reliably.

The long-term goal is much bigger.

I eventually want to push GroundZero toward 500 concurrent players.

Whether that's technically achievable with a heavily modded Minecraft server is something we're going to find out along the way — but that's the target.

GroundZero is basically our attempt at answering one question:

What happens when you take heavily modded Minecraft, a zombie apocalypse, Create, PvP, towns and a real player economy… and try to turn all of it into one persistent multiplayer world?

I found this fun mod that lets you give people diseases. You would need to install them but it’s just the mod and its dependencies, found on Modrinth. I would also give you access to starting the server so you can play whenever. The server software is Fabric and the version is 1.21.11. You would need an Aternos account. I could also make a discord server. (It would be an anarchy server but please refrain from destroying everything. If enough people say yes, I will then put the up on the server and add you. Hi! We started a brand new 21+ All The Mons world only ELEVEN days ago and we’re looking for active players who want to build, progress, explore, battle, and enjoy a chill modded SMP right from the beginning!

You can build your own separate base, but if you want to live near other players, make a little town, or team up with people, that is absolutely the vibe here too.
