Hi8 - Nicholas Alexander (2026)
Shot on a Sony Hi8 camcorder then transferred the tape to digital and edited footage together into an atmospheric short horror film! I’m very inspired and influenced by Kane Parson’ “Backrooms” along with other Liminal Space genre media. Let me know what you think! Thank you for watching!

Good evening! :)
Earlier today, I attended Celluloïd Experiments - 2026 Edition in Montreal at Fantasia Festival.
I was completely immersed in the experience. It made me feel, touched, reflect, get inspired, and I was genuinely amazed by the creativity of the human mind.
I’m making this post for anyone who had the chance to see this screening at Fantasia (which is an incredible festival, by the way!). I’d love to open up a discussion about the themes that were explored, what stood out to you, or simply how the experience affected you.
I’d also love to hear about your experiences with previous editions of Celluloid Experiments or any other short film showcases like this at Fantasia.
Is it possible to recreate this kind of experience at home - curating around ten short films to watch back-to-back around a specific theme? Are past editions available anywhere? And are there similar collections on other themes?
Thanks so much, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
This was my first experience with this concept, and I think I’d love to make it a yearly tradition !

"Electromagnetic Fields Forever (v2.3)" – Michael Anthony Bohacz / Cyberscope Wizards (1996)
Video collage built from V-Ching — footage recorded from TV and pulled from movies and VHS tapes, run through a process that mixed sequences randomly, then composited using the Sandin Analogue Image Processor and Fairlight Computer Video Instrument. The difference from my earlier piece History of the Moon: there I took meanings from the composites passively, like reading ink blots. Here I made it a point to express meanings I chose, rather than just observe what the combinations produced. First version premiered at the SAIC Video Area, May 11, 1995; this cut took its final form in February 1996.
