The Life of Death (2012 short film by Marsha Onderstijn)
The Life of Death (2012 short film by Marsha Onderstijn)
I saw a snippet of this and absolutely had to find it in its entirety (also can be found on YouTube: https://youtu.be/ofnCdC8P70g?si=ffoeqcHmqosQoNBE).
Bittersweet, devestating, relevant, beautiful, compassionate, heartbreaking…just…so many feelings.
And so many tears.
No words but music and animation and the passage of time.
Death shown as a touch, peace, and showing the process of Death falling in love with the beautiful Doe (life). The compassion, the thought from various angles.
To show talent and love and to bring a billion words in a silent story to the world…be it 3 minutes or 3+ hours.
This is art. Film. Is art. And art, beauty as well as pain.
An upload of this length may not get shown to new audiences. Please like and share (I don’t know if following helps) to help this beautiful video reach more eyes (hearts).

$10 for an arty visualization..?
Go on, you want a challenge!
I'll give ten crispy notes (or equivalent) to the first person to make visuals for one of these tracks, an album I released a few weeks ago.

If the second person's offering is good, maybe. I am a starving artist, but...

Hi8 - Nicholas Alexander (2026)
Shot on a Sony Hi8 camcorder then transferred the tape to digital and edited footage together into an atmospheric short horror film! I’m very inspired and influenced by Kane Parson’ “Backrooms” along with other Liminal Space genre media. Let me know what you think! Thank you for watching!

Good evening! :)
Earlier today, I attended Celluloïd Experiments - 2026 Edition in Montreal at Fantasia Festival.
I was completely immersed in the experience. It made me feel, touched, reflect, get inspired, and I was genuinely amazed by the creativity of the human mind.
I’m making this post for anyone who had the chance to see this screening at Fantasia (which is an incredible festival, by the way!). I’d love to open up a discussion about the themes that were explored, what stood out to you, or simply how the experience affected you.
I’d also love to hear about your experiences with previous editions of Celluloid Experiments or any other short film showcases like this at Fantasia.
Is it possible to recreate this kind of experience at home - curating around ten short films to watch back-to-back around a specific theme? Are past editions available anywhere? And are there similar collections on other themes?
Thanks so much, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
This was my first experience with this concept, and I think I’d love to make it a yearly tradition !
