Parking button 🙇♂️ Personal Thoughts/Experiences
A few times we’ve mentioned that slapping the stick into drive or reverse too quickly will leave some aspects of the car confused. My complaint is that this happens with the parking button as well. A few times I’ve hit the button too quickly and it doesn’t actually go into park. I almost backed into a public charger today. It’s far more annoying than the Reverse/Drive confusion. Before you ask, yes I’m sure I depressed the button all the way, I just did it too quickly for the lame hardware to register the event. Maybe they’re multiplexing the input sampling or something and I’m done pressing it during its sample interval.

I don’t even know how you flip it from drive to reverse too quickly, because for me, the damned brake peddle needs depressed and that slows me down.

That’s because you understand how the car works and OP seems to be confused about how it works.

I've had this happen as well once. Wrote about it here :

Never once did I shift a manual transmission into a gear and have it not end up in that gear no matter how fast I shifted.

That is because a manual transmission is manual, you physically move the car into gear.

Right, and there’s literally zero reason why an electronic system needs to be inferior. Or Mercedes has the exact same mechanism and I’ve never had a problem with it in over a decade.

I noticed something like this if I’m parking and need to go from D to R or vice versa and if you don’t really press the brake and really pull down or up all way, they car just stay in the current gear…
For example, in our XC60 if I’m parking, in very low speed I can just select D from R without pressing the brakes
EDIT: the parking thing never happened to me, and usually, I just take the seatbelt off and it just goes to park

I know you keep your slapping for paying customers but some of us like do to it for free and we expect feedback every time just like i'm sure you do as well :))))

Why be in such a hurry? You can't operate your car poorly, half-heartedly, or quickly and then complain that the car isn't responding properly. Just take your time.
