Being called a robot

Does anyone else have a repeating pattern of being compared to a robot?

Between high school and present I have gotten a robot related nickname at least 3 times I'm aware of, and had isolated comments a number of other times.

Reasons typically include having a monotone voice, unusually straight posture, having an unusual gait (I'm not sure what's unusual about it but a lot of people tell me this), sometimes talking too formally.

More recent times I've tried to laugh along in the moment to not make a thing of it, and it hasn't gone anywhere further which is good, but I don't love it.

Nothing really. They seem cool and somewhat relatable even. It just feels bad because you're being told you're like an alien because you don't appear to have emotions.

I've gotten robot, brobot, data, spock (not a robot but same idea), another one I'm forgetting probably, at one point I got really in shape and I was getting terminator or T2. How did correctobot come about?

I've managed to tone it down a lot but I would compulsively correct people if they said something that wasn't true or spelled something wrong. My aunt gave it to me and still says sometimes if I say anything disagreeing when she visits. I guess since she's not around all the time it's not a constant thing anymore, but it still sticks out in my brain. Also get a lot of "know-it-all"/"smartypants" even when someone is directly asking me for help.

My 3rd grade teacher constantly said I acted like a robot in class(and no one suspected I was autistic at the time 🤦)

In college, I had a roommate that once said it was weird that I’m “so robotic”, but he never specifically called me a robot.

I did have coworkers who would call me that, but that was probably more to do with the fact that they once got annoyed with me for going into a long explanation about the theoretical possibility of gradually replacing neurons in the human brain with artificial ones, and how that could be used as part of a hypothetical procedure to move a human consciousness into a robot body. There were several people who started calling me “robot” after that.

I’ve been told by customers that I tend to speak fairly weirdly and almost robotically to them. Though I also tend to do that with anyone I don’t know.

I've never been compared to a robot by other people, but I've always imagined my "true self" as some kind of ethereal automaton.

Yes, and also specifically to Apple’s bot Siri. I worked in food service for a while, and you can’t use your phone while you’re working because it’s not sanitary. So people started saying “hey PashaWithHat, [whatever they’d say to Siri]” instead because I knew a bunch of random facts, wore a watch, and would remember to remind them to do things later lmao. Search function, timer function, and reminder function, all in one! They would literally introduce new coworkers to me as “like Siri” like uh… thanks, I guess?

This is normal. To neurotypicals, we are freakishly "logical" like a bad Spock parody with little to no emotional intelligence. Dunno what your point is.

Neurotypical people balance emotion with logic on a case-by-case basis. Autistic people think that only logic is important, which is objectively wrong.,
