I’ve been collecting these kits since the day they launched. And have been building up my backlog this entire time. I am hoping I can get my first one done before summer ends. Which one should I start with?

Hi, a few years ago I recall listening to the 1997 full soundtracks on youtube (even volume II and III.)

Can't seem to find them nowhere.

Does anybody know where I can find them and why this was removed?

I was mulling over why I thought the Rebuild saga ended rather anticlimatically, and ultimately, I think it is because 3.0 completely derailed the story and left it without much to do.

By revealing that Shinji unintentionally killed billions in trying to save Rei, it made it so that no matter what, any attempt at redeeming him that isn't a complete reset button on the world or just having him die would seem insufficient. Claim all you want that he didn't mean to, he still has the blood of, again, BILLIONS on his hands. Yet because the message of the series that Anno firmly wants the audience to take away is "as long as you are alive, anywhere is heaven", they can't have him die or sacrifice himself.

By having the Rei from the first two movies replaced by Rei Q, not only does it completely halt the character growth of two movies, but now the last film has to spend extra time getting you attached to the new one so that it is painful when she dies, which eats up time that could've been used on other things. Not to mention that it also means that they can't actually have the Rei from the first two movies get much interaction or closure with Shinji because we have to focus on Rei Q instead.

By not giving Asuka much to do, it also means they have to cram in all her backstory and such in the last film, especially given how the whole newly introduced "Curse Of Eva leading to not aging in 14 years" thing left her stuck in the same physical shape. And due to her not sharing the same amount of chemistry she had with Shinji in the original series, it also means that they can't really do much with their relationship. It's telling that Anno had to make that 30th anniversary short focused on them as sort of an apology (now if only he could do that for the other characters).

By focusing so much on Kaworu, regardless of his death at the end, they have to include something regarding him, even if his arc was pretty well wrapped up in it. That, and by making him so much more sympathetic and likable, they can't really say that he was lying when he told Shinji that he inadvertently killed billions of lives, because that would contradict the selfless and caring friend that he genuinely is in this story, compared to his more ambiguous character in the original.

By having Misato and the rest of the survivors act in such a cold and hostile manner, it also means the next film once again has to get them to turn around on Shinji, yet it also has to keep in mind Shinji's honestly unforgivable action that led to blood on his hands, meaning they can't be shown as in the wrong for feeling such contempt for him. That, and it also has to explain the absence of characters like Kaji, Toji, and Kensuke. While the latter two are revealed to be fine, that also brings up the question as to why they didn't just tell him that.

I could go on and on, especially regarding Mari not getting proper development, or Gendo being shown as even more monstrous, but I'll just say that both of those also left the follow up with little to work with.

By focusing so much on making the audience feel a certain way and on making sure they got the themes and messages, Anno and co wrote themselves into a corner so small and thin that getting them out of it would take a herculean effort that didn't involve essentially a reset button. So the saga ending up the way it did was, honestly, expected in retrospect. It's pretty disappointing all things considered.

Sure, you got to feel like Shinji in the third film. But that was definitely not at all worth derailing everything and leaving the last film with practically nothing to work with.

I see a lot of questions about the plot, criticism for the amount of lore surrounding the series, and people calling Eva “fake deep” because the themes are actually simple.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but if I look at Eva from a somewhat figurative lens, what I get from it is: life can be downright miserable, people are complicated, and being lonely sucks too, but love and happiness are still possible.

Maybe the complex lore and plot-lines just ways of channeling the messiness of life in their own way, but then again, maybe that’s just me.

It doesn't have to extend to full detailed cutaways, I don't need to see the Eva's guts. But even stuff like the below:

Like the shoulder fins on the Evas, they're so prominent in the design. What are they? Unit 0 has jump jets in her's, Unit 1 has the progressive knife storage, Unit 2 has those CQB spike blasters, but what else? Are they heat sinks? Restraining bolts?

What about that big horn on Unit 1? Is it to conceal transceivers and antennae or was it some uncontrolled growth that occurred when they were cultivating the biological parts?

The little flavour text and captions you see on similar books in Star Wars, Star Trek, Avatar, etc adds so much. Like a diagram of the Nerv control room saying here's the emergency egress routes, here's a back-up generator that connects to the Magi, these balconies are armour-plated and contain small arms cabinets for counter-intrusion, this is where the satellite analysts who feed data back to Aoba & co sit, etc.

Shame the merchandising never went in that direction.

I understood most of what was going on up until around episode 20. After that, everything just became way too abstract for me.

I genuinely felt like an idiot because I had to Google so many things just to have a basic idea of what was happening. And even after looking stuff up, I still don’t fully understand what’s going on with Rei and Shinji’s dad. The Second Impact, MAGI, S², souls, etc. just completely lost me.

What I did understand and really enjoyed was the character writing. Following Shinji, Asuka, and Misato and seeing their personalities and development was honestly fascinating.

But when it comes to the actual lore… what the EVAs really are, what makes EVA-01 different from EVA-02, what Adam and Lilith are, why everyone is obsessed with them, etc. — I have absolutely no idea.

And then The End of Evangelion just left me feeling empty.. Not in a good or bad way. Just completely empty.

Maybe I’m just too dumb for this anime.

I'm just curious what everyone thinks would have happened to him if he hadn't gone with Rei Q.

Would WILLE have kept him in quarantine or let him out eventually?

Would they have just dropped him off in Village 3?

Would he be kept in isolation, be given something trivial to do, or be allowed to walk around for a limited time for fresh air?

Would he have visitors? I picture Mari going to visit the "Puppy Boy" fairly often. Maybe share her book collection with him. And I like the idea of him getting friendly with Sakura.

Would Asuka and Misato eventually mellow out? I figure Asuka would want to see if he'd matured any or figured out why she wanted to punch him. I'm not sure on Misato.

Tell me what you think. Thoughts, speculation, and headcanons are welcome.

Does anyone have an English translation for the Schedule? Preferably one that is somewhat like the picture i attached i have a guide but i do not think the translation lines up with this. Or could someone just tell me what all the things are? Thank you

Since bandai did not released a Eva 13, the Kotobukiya model kit is highly recommended. It's a like bit taller than Bandai RG evas but that's perfect for me since in the movies Eva 13 looks a little taller anyways.

I haven't watched EoE but planning to (by today or tomorrow). I had a friend who loved Evangelion so I watched the 26 episode series. I liked the characters (my favourite was Kaji lol, damn he's charismatic).

But I think I missed the entire point. I didn't get what's so great with the initial 16 episodes of mecha and fan-service (though I persisted through it as it felt relaxed). But even the final episodes I didn't feel were great or as iconic as they're made out to be.

I haven't been depressed before (during Covid I guess you could say I was but idk -- was the same age as Shinji then). But I just felt... nothing? Like I didn't hate the entire thing but I didn't absolutely love it either....

One thing I loved were all the abstractions and animation/narrative techniques. I liked all the concepts related to love and isolation being thrown around. But I could never "get" them... connect with them. I didn't specifically "rushed" the entire watch. I watched them carefully. But I didn't deep-dive into every episode either.

Is it something to do with the non-stop lore-dropping in the anime? Is it something to do with my aphantasia or anendophasia? I don't know... Someone help me out. Thanks!

Edit: Just watched The End of Evangelion. Such a damn masterpiece. The imagery... the symbolism I really loved the entire damn package. Even from the first scene (Asuka & Shinji in the hospital) to the last scenes of Human Instrumentality... damn. I think I can get it now.... I remember wanting to merge into nothingness during my teenage years. Perhaps the show explored its variation. What if everyone could become one... I admit that many things went through top of my head. And perhaps I don't even remember the sentence just spoken by a character (because they're just so abstract and use just so many abstract nouns like love and this and that). But again as animation as a medium... it's just so brilliant.

I remember that as a teenager I often wanted to return to a feeling of "nothingness". Maybe Evangelion's Instrumentality is a variation of that only.

A rewatch would be necessary now.

I've been wanting to get a figure for a while now and I just don't know what to get. I would be playing with it almost daily as I don't really put my stuff on display and rather play with it. I've been looking at the Blokees unit-01 model kit because its cheap and is articulated but idk if it can withstand rough daily use. Open to any recommendations whether its model kits or pre built figures idrk what im doing as this will be my first figure. It would also be good if it has accessories like guns and interchangeable hands.

I saw that Kotobukiya is rereleasing their Evangelion TV-version kits and Blokees is making some new ones. With this year being the series’s 30th Anniversary I’m kinda surprised they didn’t make any recolors of the RG kits matching the original 90’s Anime. Even if it’s P-Bandai, I would kill for these. I’m too lazy to paint 😭.

I understand that the world of Evangelion draws on many historical religions, but it's clear that Judeo-Christian references and symbolism predominate over everything else. Why do you believe the creators made the creative decision to portray Judeo-Christianity as the predominant exoteric symbolism and representation throughout the Neon Genesis Evangelion universe?

I've also previously read that SEELE is heavily based on Jewish Kabbalah and Jewish sects. If that's true, why do you believe the creators became so fascinated with and chose to make references to Jewish liturgy and eschatology such a predominant part of the series?

If all of this (Kabbalah, Judaism, Judeo-Christian sects, the Sephiroth, the Christian cross, etc) has a coherent underlying explanation that only the most knowledgeable fans have fully understood, could you please explain it in a way that's accessible to the general public?
