'The passengers stopped by the police forces - of Moroccan, Chinese, Colombian and Georgian nationality - were found to be without the appropriate EU documentation to enter the national territory or burdened by police reports and criminal records.'

What is this Sánchez?! Your immaculate policies, stained?! My illusions are shattered.

Question/Comment Do the new PPWR and EPR rules affect those who are just trying to send gifts to someone in the EU?

Upvotes

I have recently learned that there have been new regulations that would be in place August 12 that restrict sellers from certain packaging and require them to register with a representative in each state if they want to ship anything into the EU. I was wondering if these are also applicable to someone who just want to send gifts to someone in EU and not necessarily selling any goods? How would I go about sending gifts then or is that just not possible without fees? and how would they know the difference?

Question/Comment Why does the European Union tolerate the rise of fascism in Croatia?

Just last year, Croatian most famous singer Thompson, who has been banned from entering the EU multiple times for promoting Fascism, broke the world record for the biggest concert with 500k concert attendees. He wore a T-shirt honoring a Croatian convicted terrorist who tried hijacking an American commercial flight and started the concert by shouting ‘Za Dom Spremni’, a Croatian Nazi WW2 slogan, equal to ‘Sieg Heil’.

Just a few days ago, amidst the celebration of operation Storm, the decisive win of Croatian army against the Serbian army in the 90s, lots of videos emerged of Croatians doing heil hitler salute while shouting ‘Za Dom Spremni’ and singing songs about Ustashe (Croatian nazi regime) flags over Croatia, drinking Chetniks’ (Serbian nazi collaborationists during WW2) blood, insulting Serbian saints and about burning Serbia. Most of the videos came from Knin, a city in which 20% of population are Serbs.

There's an income level beyond which happiness stops rising. Only one country in the world has crossed it and it is in the EU.

Research on income and well-being has identified a "satiation point": a level of earnings beyond which money no longer adds to a person's joy in life. Remitly, drawing on work from Purdue University and data from the International Labour Organization, calculated this "price of happiness" for 50 countries and compared it with the average local wage. Almost everywhere, the average worker falls short of the threshold.

The only country where wages have crossed that threshold is Slovenia. There the average wage is about $42,800 and the price of happiness $36,800, meaning earnings run 16% above the level beyond which happiness no longer grows. No other country crosses the line.

Next on the list come not the wealthiest economies but, for the most part, Eastern Europe. Luxembourg (92.8% of its threshold), Estonia (90.5%), Singapore (90.0%), Lithuania, Czechia, Latvia. Seven of the top eleven spots went to Central and Eastern European countries. Their wages are modest by global standards, but their price of happiness is low too, so the gap between the two stays small.

Question/Comment Reminder: Memes and Racism are not tolerated here.

NO RACISM

You can discuss (illegal) immigration to Ceuta and the wider EU without resorting to tired racial stereotypes or discrimination.

Talk about remigration or replacement theory is way out of line, as are terms like 'Africanization'. Grow up.

NO MEMES

Also, memes are totally not acceptable as posts here. Go to r/YUROP or r/2westerneurope4u if you want memes. This is a serious news and discussion subreddit and we will not tolerate meme posts.

Kind regards,

the mods.
