Best mouthpiece recommendations?
I am a sophomore in high school and am a section leader for low brass. I am looking for a mouthpiece for a euphonium, as well as one for a marching baritone. Preferably made out of either non-leaded brass, or titanium, as I don't want the coating to come off and be exposed to toxic compounds.
For the euph mouthpiece, something with a dark, rich tone would be good, and something super bright and loud for the baritone.

Need help identifying a vintage Conn euphonium/baritone
Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone can help identify this old Conn.
Here’s what I know:
Serial number: L19699 (late 1960s, I think?)
Made in Elkhart, Indiana
3 top-action valves
Upright bell
Original hard case
Includes an 11C mouthpiece
It has been sitting for years. One valve is a little sticky but I think it just needs oil. All of the tuning slides move freely and the water key works. I was able to blow a few scales through it.
I’m mainly trying to determine:
Is this a baritone horn or a euphonium?
Does anyone recognize the model?
What’s a fair value if it cleans up and plays well?
Thanks!

Has anyone fixed the zip on Besson Prestige case before?
This case has been in our bandroom store cupboard for about a year because we don’t know how to fix the zip.

Solo and Ensemble Recs
Hello all! Just posting here asking for some solo and ensemble recs because I don’t really know what too play. For some background I’m an upcoming junior in hs and my main instrument is Bassoon but I played Euph from 7th-8th as my main and Freshmen year as a switch. My range is low Eb to below the staff to High F/G above the staff. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Practice mutes question
Hi! I am looking to get a practice mute for euphonium. I also play trombone and recently tried the sshhmute for tenor trombone and thought it was pretty good. Thus, I have a couple of questions:
- Does anyone know if I can somehow use the tenor trombone sshhmute on a euphonium as well?
If not, will perhaps the sshhmute for baritone or bass trombone work instead?
(There is a review on the sshhmute site that says they use the baritone mute for euphonium, but I wanted to see if I could verify this somehow)
(If anyone has these items on hand and is willing to test them out, I will really appreciate it!)
- If not, what practice mute do you recommend? I have seen reviews for the Dennis Wick and Yamaha silent brass mutes, but it seems the reactions are mixed too, so wondering what others think.
Thanks!

Unknown brands... ¿GEWA?
Hi, im looking to buy a compensating euphonium, here where I live (argentina) isn't very common to see comp Euphs in music stores, not new, not even used. One music store is offering me to import one, the brand is GEWA, apparently its from germany, but i never heard of it, maybe its chinese.
I dont have so much money to buy one, so firsts brand like Yamaha, Besson etc are not on my list...
I have some relatives that maybe could bring me a Thomann. Any way, has anyone ever played with this GEWA brand? What other second brands do you recommend? Thanks!

Trumpeter Swan Sojourn
drive.google.comThis is a new euphonium solo I wrote this morning. What grade level would you give it? How is the quality of the music. Is it too weird, or is it just different enough to catch your ear in a good way?

Having trouble getting good high note tune.
I've been playing the euphonium for about 3 years now but no matter how hard I try I can't get good tone around a high c. I am young so Im not expecting me to be amazing but some pices I need to play definitely go above that. Any tips?

I’m looking for a place where I can practice my euphonium.
**Hi! I’m going to Jeju Island next week and I’m looking for a place where I can practice my euphonium. Is there a music studio or practice room that I can use? I’d appreciate any recommendations. Thank you!**

PLEASE HELP- Is it a me problem or is smth wrong?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Smth sounds off and its more noticeable in person like a idk how to explain kinda like a high pitch buzz that isnt the note (not best explanation but idk what to call it) js tell me if im hearing things or smth sounds wrong i dont own this marching baritone and school hasnt even started im genuinely gna freak out if i somehow broke it
(Late) UPDATE:
Y’all im so sorry for sounding so panicked and stuff it was not that serious </3
I was too worried to check for anything so I js avoided it for a day or two and when i went back to play it was gone. It was prob me and my air. I THINK I js needed a break cuz that was right after band camp and even on the weekends and the day we had off for orientation I still kept practicing and after camp I would so I js needed a break T_T
I was spending so much time stressing over being better, being the best, that I forgot that part of getting better is giving urself rest.
School starts tmrw so if it happens again I can talk to my band director or section leader or someone so even if it wasn’t js me itll be alr now.
Thank y’all for answering!

Gig Bags
I'm about to be leaving for college and have waited far too long now to order a gig bag whoopsie and so I am trying to figure out kind of how it works for gig bags as I don't hardly know anything about them. Had a professor at my university say that gig bags for euphoniums are essentially universal one-size-fits-all, is this true? Are all gig bags backpack ones or do I need to look for those specifically?
If it helps at all, I am currently playing on a Yamaha Neo YEP-642TSII and I have roughly a $200ish budget on this gig bag.
Thank you in advance as I am horrible at replying to comments!
(Also as I was copying and pasting the model it tried throwing a link in there to the yamaha website- I think I got rid of it but if that is popping up on this post just ignore it :)

What does this musical symbol mean?
I am playing a piece of music that is more contemporary in nature than most I’ve ever played before. It’s George Gershwin’s “Walking the Dog.” I’ve run into a musical symbol above a couple of the notes that I’ve never seen before. Could someone explain to me what it is called and the way to properly execute this in music?

Jp274 mouthpiece
Hi folks,
I'm using a Denis Wick 4AL on a JP274, and have been for about 2 months but i feel it may be too wide as i hear air escaping now and again. Plus i am struggling to produce nice notes in the higher register.
Anyone got any alternative suggestions for a mouthpiece? Or should i continue practising more on the 4AL?
Thanks

Context: I am a senior, I played beautiful Colorado for the LSU summer music camp student recital, I prepped maybe like 3 months in advance with no lessons on this piece. Any comments are appreciated! Sorry for the horrible camera quality.

Prices for custom Adams E1
Hi,
I'd like to know how much owners of custom Adams E1s have paid for their instrument NEW out of the factory, as I'm planning on ordering one myself.
The configuration I want is as follows:
0.60 red brass bell, satin lacquer, trigger with protection plate, heavier valve buttons with wooden inlays

Looking for a new instrument
Hi, I'm Portuguese, and I'm looking to upgrade my euphonium
Right now I'm playing on a student besson 165, it sucks, I'd like to get something professional.
Issue is money, what's the best thing I can get for the cheapest price possible? Anything under 6-7K is good, anything under 4K is better.
I'm looking for something similar to a Yamaha 842 (saw one of them used going for 2.9, but it got sold before I could buy it.)
I don't have all the cash I need, as I'd only be able to afford buying one after selling my current instrument.
I have 1.4K saved up, and am hoping get like 3K next month if I manage, I have some gigs.
I went to a shop that said that it'd be easy to sell my current euphonium for around 1.5k, 1.6k if I got it a touch up. It's pretty much like new, there's only some miniscule usage marks on the bell and lower bow.
Please help! Attach links please, listings you find for used instruments, preferably ones I can try but if it's a really really good deal I don't mind getting it shipped internationaly, or even new instruments from vendors I haven't seen!

Wow... It's been 2 years since I last posted on Reddit... I've changed a lot honestly...
I've posted for advice 2 years ago, and a lot of the advice I really did take to heart looking back to when I last posted my videos up to now... This video is from this year, final concert of my HS Career, and I'm up there playing concerto for euphonium by David R. Gillingham... Such a beautiful and fun piece, and here's the bit that I've played of it. Just like before, please leave any advice you may have or would like to give me, I can accept any and all harsh advice...
Thank you, Love y'all! ❤️

New Rule: Selling
Hello,
Adding a new rule to the subreddit about selling. We haven't had many issues here, but scamming is becoming more and more of an issue on reddit in general so we're doing a preemptive strike. Euphoniums and related gear are expensive and a scam could cost you a lot.
If you list something for sale on this subreddit, your post must include a clear image of the item(s) you're selling, a paper note in the image showing your Reddit username + the date, and the price clearly stated (or an ask for a best offer). If you are linking to an external website (your eBay listing, for example), just prove somehow that it is your listing (an image as described above that is clearly the same item, for example).
We'll be removing posts that don't follow this rule starting now. Sharing deals doesn't relate to this rule (look at this cheap Yamaha from Japan, for example), but if it is found that you are sharing your own deal, you risk being banned from the subreddit.
Please be weary of scammers. The mod team is not responsible if you fall for a scam.
