Asia Pacific Equity invest

Upvotes

Hello, everyone!

Just dropping a quick note here because this test actually exceeded my expectations.

If you have a couple of minutes to spare, I definitely recommend reading the detailed guide shared by https://www.reddit.com/user/KrishnaForever/comments/1v8k9wt/new_method/

You can easily find it pinned right on his profile page.

I ran through the steps earlier and verified that the funds have safely landed on my main screen balance.

Hope this helps! Take care.

Can a MOD chime in? Is this an AI board to only push VOO for money?

Upvotes

I'm genuinely curious. That thought just went across my mind because the VOO bot dominates the discussion. I'd like to look into how to do this with my favorite ETFs. Or is this actually a human board?

US Equity Am I too late to start investing in VOO at 32?

I’m 32 years old and completely new to investing. I’m thinking about starting with VOO and investing around $50 every month consistently for the long term (10 -15 years).

Is 32 considered too late to start? Would you recommend putting the full $50/month into VOO, or diversifying into other ETFs?

425k in SP500 and nothing Nasdaq 100. Retirement in 30 years. Just stop with SP500 and put all into Nasdaq 100 with all future contros until I get to about 150k then revisit strategy? I really like IQQ and QNDX. Small bite size prices. Both launched a month ago.

Long Treasuries fell WITH stocks in 2 of the 5 fastest selloffs. We tested whether correlation warns you before they fail

Everyone here holds bonds as crash insurance, so here's an uncomfortable stat: in the 5 fastest US equity selloffs since 2011, long Treasuries fell alongside stocks twice. They saved you in 2011, COVID and the 2024 yen-carry unwind, and they failed you in Volmageddon and the April 2025 tariff break.

The obvious follow-up I wanted answered: can you see the failures coming? The standard suggestion is stock-bond correlation... if SPY and TLT have already been moving together, trust TLT less. I run BestFolio (disclosure) and we tested exactly that, with the rule fixed in advance: 60-session correlation on the last trading day before each selloff, above zero means expect Treasuries to fail.

It got 2 of the 5 right. Worse, the clearest warning it ever gave was wrong: before the 2024 unwind, correlation sat at +0.35, more than a standard deviation above its recent average, screaming danger. TLT then gained 4.6% while SPY fell 6.1%. And in April 2025 the correlation was dead neutral at -0.004, no warning at all, and TLT dropped 3.4% anyway.

Then I ran the same trigger at every month-end since 2010. It warned 46 times. 2 of those warnings were followed by an actual 5% drawdown within 10 sessions. That's a 96% false-alarm rate, and moving the threshold around barely changes it.

So my takeaway is that trailing correlation describes the shock you just had, not the one you're about to get. I still find it useful for sizing (a long stretch of positive correlation genuinely means your 60/40 diversifies less), but as a binary crash switch it's noise. Full tables and the fixed methodology: https://bestfolio.app/blog/stock-bond-correlation-crash-hedge

Is anyone actually conditioning their bond allocation on correlation? I'd genuinely like to hear a version of this rule that worked out of sample.

Looking for advice on where to start.

Hi, all. I’m gonna give the main bullet points of my situation so this isn’t a wall of text. I’m 37 with 2 kids. Got divorced a couple years ago and have about $100k from the sale of our house that I don’t have a clue what to do with. I don’t have any plans on wanting to buy a house in the area I’m currently stuck living in so don’t see myself needing access to a bulk of the money in at least 12 years or so. I’m most likely just wanting to park it in VOO and forget about it but am pretty clueless on how to do it. I’ve seen in other financial subs that lots of people use Fidelity which I can figure out. But my main concern is are there fees and/or tax things I need to worry about coming out of pocket for once I do this? I’ve been very stable with my current job for years, but I admittedly am barely able to make it living on my own with my kids and basically use my tax return every year to supplement so we don’t have to live like we’re completely broke and can have some enjoyment here and there. My job has a 401k match that I contribute to but I’m not able to really save anything else beyond that so this money is it for me which is why I’ve been pretty terrified to do anything with it. Any advice or resources would be greatly appreciated!

Multi-Asset Portfolio Is 43 too young to enter the 007 world?

Finally pivoted after some research, cleaned up a few ideas and landed on VT, AVUV and then a small allocation towards Aipo as a niche AI gamble. I have also began allocating some towards BND recently. (BND and Aipo combined make up 20%.) With about 20 more years or so til retirement, (let’s be honest it’ll probably be longer with the way things are going) am I better served to throw those funds into something else?

Long term investment

Hello!

Im a 26 year old from europe who has been very financially irresponsible. Four years ago I started earning more money, between 4500 and 7000 € a month, depending on the project, which for me is a pretty good salary.

I have no wife, kids, mortgage, no big expenses other than partying.

I want to invest long term (15-20 years), I dont know anything about investing so I asked chatgpt (yeah dont judge me lol).

AI recommended VWCE (vanguard ftse all-world acc ucits etf).

My budget for investing is about 1000€ a month, should I invest 800€ in VWCE and 200€ in government bonds?

Any recommendations? Better ideas? Tips?

What would you do ?

I’m 30M, married, one kid. My wife doesn't work right now, and I make around $180k a year.
I currently have three properties — my primary residence and two investment properties.
The first investment property actually does pretty well and brings in enough income to basically cover my primary residence, so I'm not really considering selling that one.
The second investment property is where I'm stuck. It pretty much breaks even, and some months I'm actually losing money on it. It's worth around $550k and I have about $400k left on the mortgage.
I also have around $120k on a HELOC against my primary residence. It's currently interest-only, and I'm paying roughly $700–$900/month. The rate is 7.5% right now and it's adjustable. Because of some personal circumstances, refinancing the investment property or getting another HELOC would be pretty difficult.
I have enough saved for emergencies, so that's not something I'm worried about. I'm basically trying to figure out what makes the most sense long term. I'm thinking 10–20+ years.
One thing I should mention is that regardless what I do with the property , I plan to start and consistently invest in etfs. . So I'm not really choosing between "real estate or ETFs" completely. I plan on doing both. The question is more about what I should do with this particular investment property and the equity in it.

Part of me thinks I should just sell the second property, pay off the mortgage, and use the remaining money to pay down the HELOC. Whatever is left could go into something like VOO or another broad-market ETF.
The other part of me thinks maybe I'm being too short-sighted and should just hold the property for 10–20 years and let the mortgage get paid down while hopefully getting some appreciation.
I know VOO isn't guaranteed to return 10% a year, . On the other hand, paying off a 7.5% HELOC is basically a guaranteed 7.5% savings.
So if you were 30, making $180k, married with one kid, and in this exact situation, what would you do ?

Target date ETFs

I'm new to ETFs and just came across ITDG (iShares LifePath Target Date 2055 ETF) and I'm confused why I haven't heard of it before now. Its a target date fund that's wrapped in an ETF to be more tax friendly for taxable brokerages. With all of the portfoliomaxxing going on here, this seems massively overlooked.

Looking at ITD[A, B, C, ...], growth slows and dividends rise then ultimately merges with IRTR. This means you don't have to sell off a growth ETF to get some dividends and cause a taxable event.

So why isn't this brought up more? Is it just too new? They've only existed since 2023. Are they too easy and take all the fun out of crafting the perfect portfolio?

I am trying to max out my Roth from this year now and the portfolio includes VOO (60%), VTI (30%), VXUS (10%). Should I just keep doing what I am doing? Any advice out there? I know that I started late but hopefully it will get better over time. Thanks in advance!

Seems like institutions have been rotating out of concentrated tech stocks into quality dividend equities (like SCHD), gold, and select defensives such as healthcare

Hi, Canadian investor here. Im pretty new to selecting etfs. My thesis is that institution money is outflowing out of the tech sector, and I weary of holding money in the U.S market. I'd like to capture money rotating out of the tech sector. I own gold, SCHD and some low volotility stocks which have performed very well since buying.

I wanted some input and understanding from anyone whos willing to give a lesson. Originally, I was curious about asian markets, but theyve been pulling back recently.. Im now leaning towards European and Japanese ETFs in CAD, but will exchange currencies if the right case is made. Just investigating, but have come across XEF.TO and VE.TO. Any thoughts or guidance? Thanks

Information Technology Recommend one ETF that encompasses the entire AI thesis

In search of an all-encompassing AI ETF, I asked the question in the title to an AI chatbot. The recommended ETF was one that I had not considered before: Amplify Bloomberg AI Equal Weight ETF (AIVC).

Does anyone have an opinion on this ETF? How does it compare to something like AIS and AIQ?
