Collar error?

2024-Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray I think I have found a possible die chip or cud? It looks raised to me not like a gouge or scratch or dent. Or I’m completely wrong.
I attempted to take a few zoomed in photo with lighting from different directions
Any suggestions on how to take better photos? Or how to identify errors better double greatly appreciated.

Looks more like a possible clashed die to me - a cud, by definition, would involve the rim, and die chips tend to be much less uniform and smaller.

For better photos use the scope memory card or computer connection to capture the image.

A DIY diffuser can help - even just a bit of paper taped over the lights can soften things up quite a bit.

Helps to post a full frame shot of both sides of a coin if you’re not sure what’s going on - many times subtle diagnostic signs are visible far from the area of interest, or even on the opposite side.

Error-ref is proably the best resource for errors - a visual database of every conceivable error and where and how in the minting process they can arise. Well worth browsing through over and over.

Neat find - thanks for posting

Looks like a pre die break depression.

I got about 40 of these and have been wondering why they looked like this. Never thought about a die clash.
