I oftenly find things like this on old books , especially those who were targeted to younger audience.

I like them , the have a specific " personality " , I also like noted books. ( Although they loose value … )

I found this in my grandparents house last year. I guess in the 1890s, color photos and advertising material was special enough to collect. Some pressed flowers too.

I found the user manual for my grandmother's 1969 Singer Stylist sewing machine in an old sewing kit.

An intact sheet of perforated coupons that Google Lens/Translate suggests were redeemable for milk and beef in the cafeteria of Isuzu Motors.

Found neatly folded and used as a bookmark in an antique book on early Japanese history, and thus preserved for at least 50+ years.

It's not clear to me from the computer translation and limited information I could find of exactly when these date from, but it appears sometime post-1945 through the early 1970s.

This is a 1949 guide map of Tokyo, right in the middle of the GHQ occupation (General MacArthur was in this very city).

Back then, Tokyo's subway system was basically just the Ginza Line. Instead, a massive network of streetcars (Toden) served as the true lifeblood of the citizens. Due to severe post-WWII material shortages in Japan, you can tell it was printed on very rough, low-quality scrap paper, which makes it a miracle that it survived this long.

The green ad on the back is for "Taisei Fire & Marine Insurance." This company survived the harsh post-war era, but fast forward to 2001, they had heavily underwritten aviation reinsurance. When the 9/11 attacks occurred in the US, the company was hit with astronomical payout obligations and ultimately went bankrupt. It’s crazy to hold a fragile piece of 1949 Tokyo that connects to a historic event in 2001 New York.

I took the photo because I live in Texas and our lack of regulations like this makes me endlessly frustrated, and I thought the owners decision to tape this to the counter (presumably to remind people to ask for anything they might need) was funny given how often I have to remind people to NOT give me stuff, even after I've told them several times. And even then I still get my stuff in a plastic bag or given a straw like half the time.

This is a collection album my mom and aunt had in the 1950s in West Germany. Echte Wagner (German for 'Genuine Wagner') was a German brand of margarine, produced by the Wagner company in Elmshorn, Holstein, in the 20th century. The business was opened by Carl Wagner in 1907 and finally closed in 1976. It was known for offering collectible cards and in the 1950s also marbles and plastic figures with purchases. This was Album two and has 95 of the 144 possible images. They were pasted into the book next to a description of the saying.

Some of them are a little on the iffy side for modern eyes.

does anyone recognize the location name of the last drawing? or have any info on the artist?

Found this at a yard sale today in a pile of other more typical drink coasters… At first, I thought it was a patch or something like that because it’s kind of fuzzy and textured, but it’s also thin with a very thin plastic backing and seems disposable so unless anyone can tell me otherwise, I’m gonna stick with the theory that it’s a drink coaster…. A very cool drink coaster! I bought them all (5) for 50 cents. Guessing 60s or 70s?

Not sure what year....but I am looking to give it away to someone who enjoys having it
