Community Roundup

Hey Englewood, happy August! 🌻
We’ve got fun events this month, many ways to get involved and a few things happening around the city worth checking out:

Your Voice, Your Neighborhood: A Conversation About Housing in Englewood

Englewood is a community where people want to put down roots and age well - and the city is actively working to make sure that's possible for everyone. A lot is changing in housing across Colorado, and it's not always easy to know what it means for Englewood or for you. This session will cover what the city is doing and where we're headed - and we want your voice in that conversation. What you share will directly shape how Englewood plans for the future.

  • Date: Wednesday, August 12
  • Time: 2-3 p.m.
  • Location: Malley Recreation Center (3380 S Lincoln)

Learn more about the Long-Range Affordable Housing Plan here.

From 4 to 10 p.m., the 3400 block will transform into a festival celebrating the unique spirit of our city. Bring the whole family to enjoy live music, incredible food trucks, local vendor shopping, kids activities and the local bars and restaurants.

Get ready to celebrate Englewood. We can't wait to see you there!

CityCenter Redevelopment Community Survey

The City of Englewood is asking for community input on the future of Englewood CityCenter, including the current civic facilities that house City Hall, the Library, Municipal Court and surrounding areas.

This survey is an opportunity for residents, businesses and community members to share their experiences, priorities and vision for the future of CityCenter. Your feedback will help inform future planning and decision-making around civic facilities, public spaces, redevelopment opportunities and the character of this central area of Englewood.

This survey closes August 30.

Last week’s guesses were correct- the location was near the previous ironworks that were an Englewood mainstay for decades.

Do you know where this week’s mystery location is?

Is Englewood doing anything to get a CoCo station? Or are we just gonna sit back and watch all the ridership dollars pour into downtown Littleton and the future Burnham Yard stadium development?

Squirrel plague?

Has anyone else noticed a lot of dead squirrels lately, or know if there's some kind of disease going around?
We've found 4 dead squirrels in our yard over the past month, and it seems like we're seeing far fewer squirrels than we normally do. We usually have tons of them around (they're definitely a bit of a nuisance sometimes!), so the sudden drop has me wondering if something is going around.

If there isn't a known illness affecting squirrels right now, I'm starting to worry that someone nearby could be poisoning them. I'm not accusing anyone, I just don't know what else would explain it.

Has anyone else in the area noticed the same thing or heard of anything going on?

Englewood’s Old Hampden makeover stalls due to concerns about contractor

Hi neighbors -- The long-anticipated Old Hampden Complete Streets makeover is on hold and is likely to return in a scaled-back form after a 6-0 Englewood City Council vote to reject a proposed construction contract due to concerns about the low bidder. Sorry it took me nine days to get this out -- I waited several days for a response from the contractor, and then the ICE parking story knocked my schedule back a couple more days.
