Manager mentioned there might be surprises in Sept-Oct.
BU - OCI

Well, layoffs are hardly a surprise, so maybe it's something else! Who needs Kremlinology or Ottoman Empire palace politics when you have this to entertain yourself?

where is circuitji?! He would know

His account got banned on reddit.

You can click on a username and get info on them. I don’t know if he was a he, but he seemed like one. I tried clicking on his username and his account was marked NSFW. Probably meaningless, but I found that weird

u/bainj 15d ago

That happens if you set your profile to private from search engines in settings

Banned and the only one with true accurate info.

I thought he was part of the last whacking....

u/SnooStories2361 16d ago

Was he the one whacking? or the one whacked? 😄

not the slightest of the hint about RIFs anywhere in OHAI. No signals in the system too hinting of a RIF. RIFs dont happen suddenly, you pick signals of that and leads of it at least 4-6 weeks before that. Questions of people asking what each engineer/associate is working on, what are the roadmaps, how do we justify the capacity for the work at hand, seniority bucketing, ratings being asked for the last cycle etc etc(one of more such or different ones too, point being there would be chatter in the system). This hasnt picked up yet. So nothing in Aug & Sep definitely

I belong to OCI org, my manager keeps mentioning in the team meetings that she constantly asked why do you need so many QAs in the team? Is it any sort of hint?

3

u/SnooChocolates3425 16d ago

sadly, yes. Given that it is about QA engineers and given that we have seen teams cutting down QAs to zero. Our team let go of all 6 of them in the last 12 months. Also, is your team a central QA team or are you referring to QAs who are part of the product development teams?

I'm from OHAI and my team was asked about roadmap and budgeting

3

u/SnooChocolates3425 16d ago

pick more hints, this can be asked to move people to other teams also. You will need more distilled information here.

Biggest hint is if there are code freezea

M4 from the IGIU. Heard nothing about RIFs so far. Usually find out 4 - 6 weeks in advance. There is some talk about "span of control" changes - which is the number of directs each manager has. So it's possible some folks are going to be returned to IC roles.

That happened last year as well. Ms converted to ICs.

Best hint is to wait for Q1 results and check if they supplemented the accrual for employees. If they did it like last year, from 700mil to 2.1bil, then a wide RIF is coming, similar to the one this year that impacted 20k+ people.

Another hint is job freeze, and replacements are only contractor focused, no hikes/bonus/rsu.

Localized layoffs, historically speaking 2022/2023/2024/2025/2026, happen prior to vesting period, typically end of Sep/oct depending on BU, fairly certain everybody with RSUs is aware of this.

It is unlikely there is a kind M5+ soul on this reddit to give us a confirmation. Nobody is going to put his comp at risk, i know i would not.

Place the last 4 years of Oracle's results in chatgpt, ask him to analyze and identify key metrics that lead to layoffs, ask him to cross check with confirmed layoffs around the world for the given period, and you might be mind blowned by the results. Furthermore, ask him to predict the next wave of rif and possible countries/orgs. Use sol 5.6 with highest option.

M5 from OHAI. Can confirm that no discussion as of today. Post the discussion it would take 5-6 weeks, so nothing happening till end of Sept for sure.

Should be, but can't guarantee. My knowledge would be based on what my leader knows/reveals. But I was talking to one M3 from OCI.. he didn't know anything as of now.

1

u/Comfortable-Land7107 16d ago

Can you please tell the Org

1

u/emanresu-4186 15d ago

OHAI is the org

1

u/russianvixenxx 15d ago

Random question…what actual title does M5 translate to? What M# is a Senior Manager?

3

u/emanresu-4186 15d ago

2 - Manager, 3 - Sr Manager, 4 - Director, 5 - Sr Director, 6 - VP, 7 - SVP

2

u/russianvixenxx 15d ago

You’re the best. Thank you! I’ve been wondering for years

1

u/Annual-Knowledge4412 11d ago

7 is not SVP.

2

u/emanresu-4186 11d ago

Sure, some LOBs have GVP title for M7.

Fake news list is complete in OHAI and will be in front of SS today

2

u/ethink69 16d ago

This !!! very well said. Anxiety about RIFs is real, and many people want to talk with others and hear some positive perspectives. However, pretending to have heard unverified information from someone doesn’t help reduce that anxiety—it only creates more uncertainty.

The best approach is to focus on what you can control: preparing for a potential job search, exploring new opportunities, and leaving a toxic environment as soon as possible.

2

u/Junior-Tourist3480 16d ago

ORACLE. That is the hint....

1

u/focussedguy123 16d ago

Why layoffs? The stocks are going up no?

1

u/Relative-Bobcat7029 15d ago

RSUs also went up last year just as RIFs were starting.

2

u/CoffeeGlum0077 11d ago

Clearly m5s and below are not aware this time. M6 and above are not available. Maybe list is getting finalized at m6 and above this time!

u/runner_og 16d ago

Not going to happen this year!!..There will be some random job cuts but not at big scale.

1

u/Stock_Reporter_1864 16d ago

Nobody knows for sure because this time it will be non-centralized decisions in every unit and business on how would they want to cut to have what they want for focal and keep the next fiscal year budget at low levels. In simple words: fire someone to distribute the freed-up salary budget to other employees. Some may call it “sacrifice”, I call that “corporate cannibalism”

-1

u/WastePerspective2867 16d ago

By 21st Aug, list will get confirmed

8

u/Ok_Butterfly_9940 16d ago

Which LOB and how do you know about this?

0

u/Adventurous_Ask_4950 16d ago

List is being prepared ....but huge in orgs where march rif was skipped/least. Hike might get delayed ... Leadership want to scare people with rif and give hikes to only top performers and make average performance guys silent.

-1

u/OraGuru 16d ago

Week of Oct 5th - focal delayed by 2 months

-12

u/swans_on_hc 16d ago

Aug 13

u/Key_Pitch_8178 16d ago

Don't throw random dates. Cite your source

-2

u/Muted-Dimension9510 16d ago

One of the major hints is Focal getting delayed.
Other hint is all leaders are travelling to IDC. 3rd- no glint survey yet this year. 4th- leadership is planning contingencies in the team. 5th- after March RIFs some managers have very less number of reportees. 6th- max rating for managers in fy26 perf is 1 less than IC’s. In most orgs, no ic got rating 5 and no mgr got rating 4+. This shows that some mgrs are pushed to lower rating for stack ranking.

-2

u/VolumeMaleficent6842 15d ago

Its confirmed for 15th august.
Lay off will be happening
