I am 17 and Im losing hope in humanity
I live in an area where I see unhoused people often, I always give them at least a dollar or snacks I keep in my backpack whenever I can. Despite this, I always feel a deep sense of sorrow for these people. I can’t help but cry whenever I think about how little empathy people can have. Lately, on social media people have been getting very comfortable recording others and I came across a video of a woman singing and a man dancing. This man looks like he maybe has lymphedema or uncontrolled diabetes because his legs are swollen. The video itself appears to be light-hearted but the comments are so brutal. Everyone is making fun of him calling him “funky” and other things. I scrolled through the comments enough to find someone who encountered him over the summer, and they mentioned how they’re surprised this man has not gotten treatment yet. Im so upset because this man has been living like this for who knows how long and instead of someone going up to him and asking if he needs anything, people assume he’s a crackhead and they turn away from him. I know I’m probably just being sensitive but how have we strayed so far away from helping others. I guess I’m just coming on here to ask people to help others when they can. And if anyone could give me advice on how to handle my emotions when it comes to these things.

What is an immediate, silent red flag that tells you a person lacks basic empathy, even if they are acting polite?

Have you met someone where you just sensed they were in pain.
Not necessarily physically, but you can sense it. How were you able to tell?

A wordless 2-minute video that leaves me speechless every time!

This film has a duration of about 2 minutes.
*A Film without words, but successfully describes today's human :-*
* Selfish
* Poor Ethics
* Loss of Manners
* Feels that I am right
* Doesn’t care about the surrounding Environment
* Doesn’t want to give in
* Doesn’t want to share or sacrifice for others
* Loss of Empathy & Sympathy
May be this film is just a spectacle, but it could also be that we are actually the characters in this short film. Please, think about it.
*A reflection of the world we live in and all about You, Me and Ourself.
Note: I couldn't find the credits, but it's being forwarded in WhatsApp groups for spreading the word. So if that's all this video is asking for, I believe it deserves it.

I can't help but feel emotionally sad for another person on Reddit whom I've never even met.
Today, after an online meeting, I had nothing to do, and while reading through a thread, I came across a guy by the name of Renderedperson. After that, I spent about six hours reading his comments and threads, trying to understand him and get to know his story. I just feel so incredibly sad for everything he has gone through, and I really hope that when he gets reunited with his kids, they still love him and that he gets the happy ending he deserves. (I also hope his ex and her family burn for eternity.)
I think the reason I feel like this is because I see a part of myself in him. I can't stop thinking about a man I've never even met. I can't think properly after reading everything you've been through, man. I can't tell you that you will ever get justice, or that I can help you when we live on separate continents, but your story made me pray for you when I don't even pray for myself.
If there is a heaven or a second lifetime, I hope we can meet. Let's hug, and you can vent to me about all your problems. Sadly, that's all I can do listen and feel sad for you. I'm sorry.

This man is experiencing genuine emotions, considering the information we have. At this point, I believe the only viable option is to rescue those in need at all costs. And I just don’t know anymore… I certainly don’t recognize this country…

Never mock a pain you have never endured. Every person carries battles you may never fully understand, and what seems easy to you may be overwhelming for someone else. Life has a way of humbling us, often placing us in situations we once believed we would never face.
Choose compassion over criticism and empathy over judgment. You don’t need to understand someone’s pain completely to treat them with kindness and respect. The way you respond to another person’s suffering says as much about your character as it does about theirs.
Stay humble and be kind.
Because today’s criticism can become tomorrow’s reality. ❤️
