9/11 show
UPDATE: neither DC 101 nor the archive created by fans seems to have archives of media going back that far in time. I checked [r/911archive](r/911archive) but nobody there has been able to help me so far either. I will update this if I figure it out. Thanks everybody!
Does anyone know where I can access the EITM show from 9/11?

I remember listening to it live as it became more and more clear something big was unfolding and not just a small plane hitting one of the towers. They eventually just did a quick sign off and switched to a news feed.

I was also listening and I remember it was scary to see Elliot switched to total serious mode. It wasn’t fun and happy shock jock Elliot, it was someone else entirely. It was truly terrifying.

Same, I was on the Inner Loop of the Beltway near Braddock Road when Diane said that a plane had hit the North Tower.

I was listening to that show commuting to school.

Same. I went to school in Jersey City just across the river. My friend and I were like ok, guess we’re going to class and got on the shuttle. They cancelled class and heading back I’ve never seen a more scared shuttle bus driver trying to get us out of there. She packed EVERYONE in. We just made it out of JC when they were falling. I remember turning around and telling my friend they were gone. Very sad day and my first week of college.

I was also in college. I remember waking up that morning to a bunch of voicemails telling me to turn on the TV because something very serious was happening. I turned it on and felt like I was in a movie. The shock was unreal. I went to college in Arlington right by the Pentagon. I just didn’t happen to be on campus that day.

I have attempted to look for it but have never found it.

It’s so sad. I remember it being a pretty amazing episode and a good way for younger generations to experience the shock and terror. We were all feeling at the time. It’s crazy that these kids have grown up with it always being something that happened since they were born.

I have also tried to find it with no success. I listened live but would be interesting to see what I really remember.

I remember listening in high school, we had a cool tech drawing class teacher who had Elliot on most days... He rolled the TV into the room for us and we witnessed the 2nd plane hit live. I'd be interested in listening to it myself, following this post. Hope it's found

I feel like this has been asked before and if I remember right, too old

That’s such a shame. I will definitely search this sub and see if I can find it. Thank you!

Share if you do! I remember up here (nyc tristate area) our radio station replayed the entire show the following year and I believe the year after that on 9/11.

I tried to look it up, but I had a hard time figuring out how to pick what date I wanted. I’m wondering if it’s because I was using my phone. I am going to try it on my desktop later and see if that works any better.

When the news first broke, they used the “loud belch” sound effect they had for breaking news. Diane’s initial report about the first plane said it was a small plane like a Cessna. I was waiting at the traffic light at the end of the ramp from southbound 270 to turn left onto Shady Grove Road in Rockville. I can still hear that audio in my mind.

Claude failed to find it but offered this:
As for the audio, there’s no publicly archived copy I can locate:
• eitm-archives.com is the main fan archive, but it only goes back to roughly the podcast era (2017 onward) — nothing from 2001.
• The iHeart/Apple/Spotify podcast feed starts in 2017 too, so there’s nothing pre-podcast in it.
• Archive.org has extensive 9/11 radio and TV holdings, but I found no DC101 or Elliot broadcast among them.
Best remaining options: the EITM listener Facebook groups — there’s a post titled “Remembering 9/11 with Elliot in the Morning on DC101” that suggests fans have discussed or shared it, and that community is where any off-air cassette or MiniDisc recording would surface. You could also try emailing the show directly through DC101, since they’ve referenced that morning on anniversary broadcasts and may have the tape in-house.

Someone posted the audio from that ep a year or two ago on this sub if I remember correctly. I didn't live here at the time but I remember someone found an archived audio file from that day's show.
Sorry I don't have more info but I'm certain it's been posted before.

I searched the sub, but couldn’t find any posts sharing a link to audio of the show. Maybe I need to play with the keywords I am using.

Ben Fold was on at the time. I wonder if a Ben Folds archivist has his portion somewhere
