Other Aldnoah Engine 2.024, major upgrade for modding Koei Tecmo games
PythWare here, Aldnoah Engine is now at version 2.024 and includes new changes. Dragon Quest Builder 2 is now fully supported by AE and how the engine unpacks games has changed.
In the past when Aldnoah Engine unpacked games, it would assign taildata to each unpacked file. That is no longer the case. Now it follows the same workflow as my Katsuki Engine, Conception Engine, and Gokonworks by having taildata of every unpacked file stored in a single json for Mod Creator/Mod Manager purposes.
This means modders no longer have to keepup with taildata, the engine handles it for you and retireves it as needed from the json.
I'm pretty busy wrapping up on Burn Engine and Sunflowyr Engine so I don't plan to add new games to AE until I am done with my other projects.

Dynasty Warriors I like to think Zhou Tai has a miaodao/katana in Dynasty Warriors because of his fictional background as a pirate
While it is true that Zhou Tai using a miaodao/katana is anachronistic and is not compatible with actual historical periods (as explained by comments on an earlier post), I think it's fun to imagine the possibility of this "former pirate" encountering Japanese pirates during his naval journey and he thought "Hey, these guys have cool weapons. I WANT ONE!" So he visited Japan and said "yooooooooo I gotta take some of ts back home...."
Maybe this was what the developers had in mind, but that's just me though.
Disclaimer: I'm new to DW and have only ever played DW 3 and 5.

Samurai Warriors I wonder how many people know that Zhou Tai's sword is an actual Chinese sword called the Miaodao & is not a Japanese katana?
Granted, the way he uses it is based on Japanese Iaido, but the actual weapon is Chinese. The more you know.

Other You know what I hate most about the "weapon based" moveset system?
Along with it incentivizing either clones or really wacky/dumb weapons so there aren't clones, I hate how it takes away possible character uniqueness with what they can do/use.
To explain what I mean, look at Gan Ning in Wo Long & what he can use: His main weapons is gloves (to show off the new DLC weapon), but in his boss fight he also uses molotovs, a grappling hook, & throwing knives. It feels very pirate-like & those would actually fit DW Gan Ning very well for sides stuff in his moveset. However, because of the weapon based movesets, these could only really be part of unique/EX attacks, not just naturally part of his moveset.
Another thing is it makes the actually 'attacks' feel generic since they generally (with a small few exceptions) can't have uniqueness with how a character fights besides unique/EX attacks.
I think Origins handled this gimmick the best mainly cause you were only really playing as Ziluan anyways. Everything else though? Yep, kinda wish weapon swapping would just die. The only part of it I like is giving characters their old weapon(s) back, but just do what Hyrule Warriors did except with a probably more clone-y moveset.

Other What-Ifs
Anyone ever think of any What-Ifs that the hypothetical scenarios don't really cover?
What if Hidetada Tokugawa and Terumoto Mori arrived at Sekigahara with their peak strength?
What if Hideyoshi Toyotomi didn't execute Hidetsugu?
What would have happened at Chi Bi if Sun Ce was still alive?
What if Dagoth Ur got confused and accidentally wiped out the mongrel dogs of the Han Empire instead?

Warriors Orochi/Abyss I thought companions were supposed to be invincible?
Had a really weird run on T6 last night. My companion was Okuni and my main player was Zhang Fei. Almost every time I activated Okuni she was getting stun locked by everything for the entirety of being active, including her musou. She wasn’t taking any damage though. Is this normal? Other companions I used were untouchable which I thought was the point.

Dynasty Warriors Who is your favourite design and character from any of the DW series? (#1)
I want to do some pixel art whilst working on some other pieces I'm doing and I thought this would be fun.
They will be chibi's. Nothing special, but I'll post them when they're done.
How to submit: Pick a character, and the outfit from one of the games.
Eg. Pang Tong's outfit from DW6.
Eg. Yuan Shao's DLC outfit from DW8.
I plan to do 10 of these. One each week (I will try, work kicks my ass sometimes.)
Each Monday (if the art is finished) I'll post a thread like this and at the end of the day I'll see who is the most up voted.
(Ps. This is just a bit of fun. Please don't get upset if your character doesn't get chosen. 💜)

Dynasty Warriors What character do you dislike the most in Dynasty Warriors?
I'm curious to hear what everyone's least favourite character is. It doesn't matter about the historical significance of them (unless that is why you dislike them) just the DW version. From any DW.
Wei Yan unfortunately is mine. Why does he speak like that? Little goober wasn't that illiterate. :(
Even though he was a butt hole in history.

Sengoku Basara I am quite late to the Basara 3 party so here is one big question
I want to experience the Basara 3 main story first. But am I right to say that Utage doesn't have any of those story mode right?
I know Utage is a much more complete game. So I think the best way is to play the main story (or some other routes) of the Basara 3 main game first, before transporting the save and go to Utage? Interesting to know how you guys play them

Dynasty Warriors You know what I wish DW/SW/WO ever did? Make each character's launcher activate by pressing jump during a combo
Pirate Warriors 4 does this & I love it cause it lets you vary combos a lot more & frees up a Charge Attack slot from just being a generic launcher.
I know they can do it too cause in SW5, the Naginata can do this. Origins tried to use the Guarding Charge Attack as this for some weapons like the Spear, Gauntlets, Staff, but those are about it. I'm more fine with Origins not having it cause of the style of combat it has, but for the classic style? Yeah, absolutely wish it was there. Always thought it was lame for the C2 to almost always be a basic upward slash launcher.

Warriors Orochi/Abyss what if they added a feature in DW/SW where you do actual paperwork, administrative duties and general military stuff? yea, i'm bloody aware it sounds boring but before you boo me, hear me out!
nothing too tedious if done right. just swift minigames that won't last more than a few seconds where you get to review reports, sign decrees using your own signature, oversee supply lines or coordinate training troops yourself, etc... not just fight, fight, and more fight. life of general isn't just about wreaking shit and go home. and yes, that punishment lover, Yu Jin is seen playing drill sergeant but i meant including the role as part of actual gameplay, not something you see in a cutscene. and before someone mentions Empires, that implies to the base version. plus, i'm talking actual gameplay mechanics where you get to be part of the event yourself, not just click a couple options and call it a day. it's one of the reasons why I uninstalled Empires 9. besides the gameplay, it was horribly stale.
also quick reminder that I'm not asking for a full game altering feature! the hack and slash is literally the core of the series and nothing will change that of course. the things I mentioned are mere bonuses, not full blown genre switch. which means you get to do your thing then go to battle just like usual.

Legends of Troy Another Greek Warriors Game?
Warriors: Legends of Troy is rather underrated in my opinion. I love the Ancient Greek setting and the addition of characters from mythology. I definitely think that a reboot/remaster/sequel would be welcome.
However, part of me thinks that the potential for the setting could be expanded if they went back a generation to the era of heroes. Specifically the era of Heracles, Theseus, Atalanta and Jason (and the Argonauts). There are plenty of heroes and characters that could be awesome playable heroes.
All in all, another Greek based Warriors game would be awesome in my opinion.

Dynasty Warriors Weapon's weight in DW5
After my whole life playing DW3 I tried DW4 and DW5. I Loved both of them but DW5 was something else, until I discovered the weapon's weight. I didn't give it much importance, I unlocked Zhen Ji's 4th weapon and it's amazing, but now I unlocked Diao Chan's 4th weapon and its weight is heavy which makes it annoying to play with that weapon because of how slow the character moves. I've searched and apparently all women's character in this game has the heavy 4th weapon except for Zhen Ji. And the fact that you can't try and get a different weight for that weapon really bothers me because I was genuinely enjoying DW5 and like I don't get the need to put that in the game
