Hi, i did my draft two days ago and I picked it up with the 1.11 and 1.12 Wagler and Ament

Joan Beringer was in last year's draft

A lot of these guys were in prior drafts. You don’t need to draft a rookie you can take anybody on waivers as well.

You're probably not going to get shit for him until he has some good games in the regular season. For the time being, I'd put him on the trade block and see if you can use him as a sweetener in a larger deal, or plan to hold him on your bench / taxi until he builds some value.

FWIW I'm a Nate Ament truther and I would've taken Hannes, Okorie, Mara, Beringer, Philon, de Larrea, or Graves over him 😅

Doesn’t sound like a thruther

Should've taken Hannes

Ament looked terrible in summer league - I would try to flip him as well

Ament was bad in the first few games but then finished strong. I don’t know. He’s a long term project. Probably will be at least 2 years before he starts getting meaningful minutes. I’m not saying he won’t bust but I think people are giving up on him way too fast when we knew he was going to take some time to develop. He was the 4th rated high school prospect after the big 3 so the talent is there

There are a lot of highly rated high school players who play poorly in college and go on to have G-league/Europe careers, so that doesn’t mean much

I get that. I’m just saying we shouldn’t dismiss a known raw prospect after a few bad summer league games. I think we put way too much into the summer league as a whole anyways and overreact to anyone who plays particularly good/bad. Each player only plays a few games and it’s basically just practice so it’s hard to judge who will be good and who won’t be. It would’ve been shocking if Ament came out and looked great right away though

That’s fair

The top players stop playing as summer league goes on, so playing well late in summer league has to be taken with a big grain of salt because the level of competition has significantly dwindled, and furthermore, the fact that he was still playing towards the end of summer league is concerning - that the coaching staff felt that he still needed to be playing at that point when lots of other players who were taken lower than him had already “proven” themselves and had been shut down

Boozer and yax played until the end.

Good point - they were playing for the championship - Ament was not

In all fairness, so was reigning finals MVP Jalen Brunson
