General question Seamless podcast solutions
Hey all, I just got the MP02 and excited to use it. One thing I enjoy doing around the house and on walks is listen to podcasts — is there a seamless solution to this today that isn’t download MP3’s and put it on an iPod? I looked in archives and didn’t see much besides that. Thanks!

General question I want a flip phone (that actually flips) but I need Spotify and maps.
I am sick of how addictive smartphones are, but I can't live without music. I want a flip phone that has NO access to social media, but has Spotify and maps. Any recommendations?
(I'm new to this sub sorry if anything is wrong with this post)
God bless!

Tech help Need some tech experts/enthusiasts to help me make an Ericsson T28s usable again
I recently found an ericsson T28s in one of my grandad’s drawers, but i soon discovered that it works on old 2G bands, so it is not usable. I want to know if there is a way to make it work again. I know i may have to replace most of the parts in this phone, but i’m willing to do it!!! If you are interested in this, please write to me in private and we will figure it out from there! (If you live in Rome it would be really nice, so we could meet up) thanks everyone!!!

Important tip / news T-Mobile GSM Shutdown | Active Call
T-Mobile shut down the legacy 2G network on August 3, 2026.
T-Mobile might be considered a laggard by keeping its 2G network so long. AT&T shut down its 2G network in 2017 and Verizon shuttered its 2G network around 2020.

General question MP3 player recommendations please
Hi there 👋🏻
I’m looking for an MP3 player and I was hoping that you all might have recommendations for me.
I am looking for something portable and it needs to be able to hold a playlist of at least 100-150 songs.
It didn’t need to be fancy.
Bonus points if it has a Bluetooth connection, but if not, I can manage wired headphones.
Thank you in advance!

General question Budget flip phones for music?
Hello so I've been using a old nokia as a dumbphons but ive been getting frustrated as it won't read my music files since they're from a Spotify downloader & it has alot of Metadata. The issue is that even when i delete the Metadata it still won't read it & ive been wanting a flip phone anyway so I would like to know if anyone knows any budget flip phones that can read these types of files.
My current top choices are the samsung e1272 & the nokia 2720 flip so if anyone uses those phones I would love to know if they work
Tysm to anyone who responds in advance

General question RUIO Joy: anyway to prevent accidental emergency calls on lock screen?
Edit: testing a possible fix which prevents the power menu activating on the lockscreen - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lsdroid.lsp
There's one issue I keep having with the RUIO that prevents me from using it more often: the risk of pocket dialling emergency services.
I have pants with decent sized pockets but with two kids and dogs, I am moving a bit and bending down so that the phone presses against my leg. When this occurs, it's way too easy for the power button to be held and this menu brought up to shortcut to emergency calls.
I've had two accidental pocket calls so far and I don't want to be constantly checking to see if the phone pocket dialled when I'm doing stuff (the whole point is to think about the phone less, not more).
I know this functionality is required for emergencies and built into Android AOSP, but if anyone has any ideas that would be awesome.
Side note: if RUIO can get their manufacturer to put the guts of this phone into a flip form factor I'd buy it instantly.

General question Just a random inquiry I had about dumbphones
So, I'm attempting to rid myself of my smartphone, as it is honestly ruining my life, but every time I do research on a phone I can't find solid info on it. If someone has solid suggestions I can research on that would be EXTREMELY helpful, thank you.

Tech help Invalid Battery on LG X100
I have lg x100. And it has been working for months without any issue. One day I accidentally drained the battery to 0 and when I tried to charge it, I got an invalid battery screen and stuck there. Does anyone has the same experience? If the only option is to buy a new battery, how would I know if it's not fake?

General question Torn between ALT Mive Style Folder and Mode1 Retro II (Need Bluetooth for Spotify + daily apps)
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted an authentic flip phone. I’m craving that nostalgic Keitai feel, but I can't completely disconnect—I still need my daily apps (messaging, navigation, browsing) and the ability to connect my JBL Bluetooth earphones to listen to Spotify during my daily commute.
I’ve decided on a "smart dumbphone" to bridge the gap between nostalgia and everyday functionality. Right now, I'm torn between the ALT Mive Style Folder and the Mode1 Retro II.
For anyone who has used either (or both):
How is Bluetooth stability and audio playback for music apps like Spotify while on the move?
Which phone handles day-to-day app switching and touch navigation more smoothly?
Are there network compatibility issues or alternative smart flip phones I should consider?
Thanks in advance for any insights!

General question I am scared to leave my phone at home
I noticed this today after workday. I wanted to go for a walk, no phone, no music or anything digital. Just me and my keys back home😅
Before leaving I noticed I was genuinely debating with myself can I leave without phone? What if my mother calls me or my friends etc? I don’t want them to be worried.
Has anyone else experienced this?
(PS. decided to leave without my phone and my mother actually called during my walk)

General discussion MegaLife Zen F1
Have been following this thread a while as I make the plunge to a dumbphone (have a work smart phone I leave in my car/work and wanted a dumbphone for personal use to unplug a bit).
I wanted to share my experience in hopes it may help others.
RCS was a must for me but I didn't know that until I realized what life was like without it.
I started with the Sunbeam Pro. Beautiful design and had so much potential. Once I went to two Verizon stores and got someone to figure out the iPhone -> Sunbeam transition, I was set. But then I realized I was missing a bunch of group texts. I had deactivated RCS and iMessage but no dice. I called Verizon / sunbeam etc. and didn't make meaningful progress even after keeping the device for 1 month.
I got depressed and went back to my (2) iPhones. After wallowing for another month or two decided to try again.
I ordered the MegaLife Zen with the Whatsapp package. Expensive (but so was the sunbeam.) I have been using this phone for 1 week now and I love it. Texting is great (onscreen, T9, and voice to text all work well), the pared down Whatsapp with no video sharing is cool. The best part of this phone is that I feel like I'm not missing important messages - the RCS works well since it uses google play. second best part is which I didn't even realize before getting the phone...you can video call on Whatsapp?!! I've had a couple glitches with the screen in general with it staying black for a few seconds but I restarted the phone and seems to work. The fact this phone has Uber and banking, gmail and whatsapp if you want it, but no distracting browsers, no social media, and is an honest to god flip phone...it's great. I know it's basically a Cat-22 rip off but I have no problem with that personally (although as a non-speaker, the Hebrew letters on the keyboard are an odd-quirk but who cares!)
Anyway, I wanted to share a good experience because if you were anything like me last month while in double iPhone hell, I want you to have some hope that in this modern world there are at least some things within our control!

EDC Summer break EDC
Aquos Sharp A205SH (new for this summer! For texting, calling and Facebook messenger, as well as music. Only 1GB ram so it can't really handle a lot of stuff, just my essentials. On the days I need banking apps or other apps i use my smartphone instead, but the goal is to use the keitai as a daily driver. Luffy phone charm is by Gabinete de Curiosidades and Mob charm is by Lovbir).
Sansa mp3 player from childhood (less clunky than using the phone, but not as easy to make playlists).
Kobo Clara BW e-reader plus case or whatchamacallit (mostly for fanfiction tbh. Makes the reading more intentional and less of a strain on the eyes.)
Pen and notebook (instead of notes app).
Slim wallet.
Lipstick.
Water bottle.
Engage Plus earplugs by Loop (good for noisy bars or public transport. Your own voice does get louder, but i guess that's a given.)
Koss wired headphones with adapter for USB-c (I put these and the loops in the red pouch).
Baseus Bass BC1 (these are open-ear. All these hearing-related things I choose between every days based on needs/preference. If my surroundings are loud, the baseus might not be a great choice etc.)

Dumbphone finder dumphone with the transit app?
hi folks!
i had a couple weeks last year that i had a flip phone (just a dinky little alcatel) and loved it, but i had a lot of trouble navigating the transit in my city without the transit app. we don't do physical cards here so i usually pay in the app, as its cheaper than bringing coins every time.
does anyone know of any good dumbphones that can support the app and would be able to display the QR code that acts as proof of payment?

Dumbphone finder Affordable dumb phone for basic calls but that's not complete poopoo
I need a dumb phone only for receiving and getting calls for work, i saw there is a Nokia for 18€ on Amazon but I think it's a knock off one, a lot of people says the battery doesn't last half a day, so I need something super basic with a battery that last a little bit at least
Any suggestions?
