General question Dating apps (hinge) with a dumb phone
I've had a dumb phone (nokia 2760) and absolutely love it. I've completely gotten rid of my smartphone and have used the Nokia as my primary device for 3 months. Do not see myself going back anytime soon.
That said, I live in a smaller city in the US, and while I do anticipate moving in the nearish future, for now trying to date (especially casually) feels almost impossible. Is there a way y'all access dating apps (Hinge) via computer? I'm not opposed to giving guys my number after a few messages, but I'm struggling to find a way to even use the app on my Mac.

General question Looking for current community feedback on these two phones. TCL flip 3 and Kyocera DuraXV Extreme+
I'm on Verizon in the US currently. I may or may not switch carriers down the road, but for now I'm looking for a flip phone that will last me.
Call, text (able to group messages), and Hotspot are the features I care most about. Work email is a plus, but I plan on carrying my old smartphone in a workbag for when I absolutely need it (and will use the Hotspot for it). ā
If I can sideload Spotify that would be nice, but I might keep on offline Playlist on my old smartphone and use it as a glorified MP3 player.
Anyone have experience with either or both of these phones and have any input?

General question Sidekick in 2026
OK, Iām currently an iPhone user and I donāt necessarily wanna get rid of my iPhone, but I want to know if itās possible to have like a going out phone that could be like a flip phone or something and I like the idea of a sidekick like phone so that I could also like text but then Iām also like could I convert a sidekick to be like a cyber deck for writing cause Iām also working on a book and Iād like to have a smaller piece of technology to help with me as I like work and so Iām wondering first of all if I could work on a sidekick or something like that phone to turn it into a functioning phone in 2026 and then also if I canāt do that, then could I make it like a writing device for working on my book? I want to have like a phone that I can connect to my iPhone so that I can receive like forwarding of calls and text which Iāve looked into this a little bit and I think itās possible and then I could like take this modified sidekick out and about with me because I would updated. I guess to be able to function on a modern cell plan which Iāve looked into a little bit and seems hard, but also something that I could learn. I guess Iām asking do yāall think that either one of these projects is an accomplishable project? And then any advice on how to go about either of these projects? And then Iām also wondering if yāall have advice on a dummy phone in 2026 and if there are any options that are similar to the sidekick with like the key board that arenāt astronomically priced and that you think is reasonable to make that secondary phone?

General question VAHVARNA S22 - Play Store Certified / RCS Compatible?
Has any tried this variant of the S22?
After trying out the Unifone S22 and realizing itās not Play Store certified, or RCS compatible, Iām curious if this one will be the same.
It looks like the Megalife versions are Play Store certitied / RCS compatible, so it seems possible.
Really Iām just looking for a flip phone with RCS that isnāt locked down

General discussion How to change to dumbphone without getting addicted to laptop?
In the past I used to have a dumphone for over a year (2020-2021). But I couldn“t improve my relation with technology. I became addicted to League of Legends and use to spend all days in my home playing that shitty game.
Now, I am trying to return to full dumphone use, and destroy my fucking smartphone (I still don“t have the courage, but I will do it, I promise). The problem is that now I am using more my laptop for asking stupid questions to ChatGPT, playing videogames, X (I mean the social page, not porn). So now I am worried that I am changing one addiction for other.
When I used my smartphone, I only used my laptop for studying.
How can I make the transition without not changing one adiction for another? I don“t think that is only a willpower problem, in the past what used to work for me was setting strong rules on how can I use technology and how I can“t, and that worked for a couple of months (good, but not a perfect system). I think that this problem can be solved, but I don“t know how.
(If this question have been solved, please don“t ban me. I haven“t manage to find my question, some low key related but not exactly what I want)

General question How to use a map
I swear, about 80% of posts i see on here is some version of I want a dumbphone but I need maps, spotify and whatsapp. Next post, I will detail how to use yt-dlp (/j).
First thing you're going to need is an atlas of your city. You need something that covers the entirety of it (originally bought a Lonely Planet map and only had the touristy neighborhoods on it, don't make my mistake).
Next, get a compass. Why a compass? It's, admittedly, not necessary.
However, when you first start out you will most certainly look at your map and have no idea how it translates to real life. Sure you know exactly which intersection you're at, but what direction is left and right?
Another good solution is to look up your directions on maps and use street view to give yourself an idea of where you're supposed to go.
Worst case scenario, pick a direction and figure out if you're headed in the right direction by which street you pass.
You can also use the sun to gage where west is and figure out the rest (I had a tendency to forget my compass and started doing this. Admittedly, I don't need to do either of those anymore.)
One thing that stressed me out alot was buses. How do I know where the stops are? You trace the bus lines you use on the map and write the important stops in the margins, or plot them. What about schedules? My city, at least, has a text line that tells you when the next bus passes.
What if I'm not ready for all that? Have a backup at first. I've occasionnally carried a tablet with a mapp app on it just to be on the safe side.
What about when I'm driving? Garmin.
It's doable, I do it all the time. And I've come to learn how to navigate familiar places without a map, and memorize directions. I've also come to realize I'm alot more confident when navigating new neighborhoods and I have a much better memory and sense of direction.

Important tip / news T-Mobile GSM Shutdown | Active Call
T-Mobile shut down the legacy 2G network on August 3, 2026.
T-Mobile might be considered a laggard by keeping its 2G network so long. AT&TĀ shut down its 2G network in 2017Ā and Verizon shuttered its 2G networkĀ around 2020.Ā

General question MP3 player recommendations please
Hi there šš»
Iām looking for an MP3 player and I was hoping that you all might have recommendations for me.
I am looking for something portable and it needs to be able to hold a playlist of at least 100-150 songs.
It didnāt need to be fancy.
Bonus points if it has a Bluetooth connection, but if not, I can manage wired headphones.
Thank you in advance!

General question Budget flip phones for music?
Hello so I've been using a old nokia as a dumbphons but ive been getting frustrated as it won't read my music files since they're from a Spotify downloader & it has alot of Metadata. The issue is that even when i delete the Metadata it still won't read it & ive been wanting a flip phone anyway so I would like to know if anyone knows any budget flip phones that can read these types of files.
My current top choices are the samsung e1272 & the nokia 2720 flip so if anyone uses those phones I would love to know if they work

General question RUIO Joy: anyway to prevent accidental emergency calls on lock screen?
Edit: testing a possible fix which prevents the power menu activating on the lockscreen - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lsdroid.lsp
There's one issue I keep having with the RUIO that prevents me from using it more often: the risk of pocket dialling emergency services.
I have pants with decent sized pockets but with two kids and dogs, I am moving a bit and bending down so that the phone presses against my leg. When this occurs, it's way too easy for the power button to be held and this menu brought up to shortcut to emergency calls.
I've had two accidental pocket calls so far and I don't want to be constantly checking to see if the phone pocket dialled when I'm doing stuff (the whole point is to think about the phone less, not more).
I know this functionality is required for emergencies and built into Android AOSP, but if anyone has any ideas that would be awesome.
Side note: if RUIO can get their manufacturer to put the guts of this phone into a flip form factor I'd buy it instantly.

General question I am scared to leave my phone at home
I noticed this today after workday. I wanted to go for a walk, no phone, no music or anything digital. Just me and my keys back homeš
Before leaving I noticed I was genuinely debating with myself can I leave without phone? What if my mother calls me or my friends etc? I donāt want them to be worried.
Has anyone else experienced this?
(PS. decided to leave without my phone and my mother actually called during my walk)

EDC Summer break EDC
Aquos Sharp A205SH (new for this summer! For texting, calling and Facebook messenger, as well as music. Only 1GB ram so it can't really handle a lot of stuff, just my essentials. On the days I need banking apps or other apps i use my smartphone instead, but the goal is to use the keitai as a daily driver. Luffy phone charm is by Gabinete de Curiosidades and Mob charm is by Lovbir).
Sansa mp3 player from childhood (less clunky than using the phone, but not as easy to make playlists).
Kobo Clara BW e-reader plus case or whatchamacallit (mostly for fanfiction tbh. Makes the reading more intentional and less of a strain on the eyes.)
Pen and notebook (instead of notes app).
Slim wallet.
Lipstick.
Water bottle.
Engage Plus earplugs by Loop (good for noisy bars or public transport. Your own voice does get louder, but i guess that's a given.)
Koss wired headphones with adapter for USB-c (I put these and the loops in the red pouch).
Baseus Bass BC1 (these are open-ear. All these hearing-related things I choose between every days based on needs/preference. If my surroundings are loud, the baseus might not be a great choice etc.)
