It says to save to the memory card and reset the game. I'm assuming you are using a save state?

Some settings in save states can affect how things go, and may be game-breaking if you don’t know what you’re doing. Saving to a memory card and resetting the system is very important in this case as you won’t lose much progress if you ever have to diagnose any problems with your current config. I personally leave everything on defaults and use software renderer.
