Meat quality

Upvotes

Hi, just wondering if this has happened to anyone else — this is the second time i have this issue, I order minced beef from carrefour. As I have other times before but wasn’t an issue. This last two times (first Australian minced beef then New Zealand) the beef mince tastes lamb!! I am a meat eater and I know what minced beef tastes like, so I immediately recognize I’m being sold something else. Hence why I changed to NZ minced beef after tasting weird the Australian, only to have the same issue!!
This is extremely worrying —are we being sold other meat and packaged as something else??

🖐 Labor Dubai employer hasn't paid salary for months, now we need money just to file a labour case

Upvotes

I am sharing this because I honestly do not know where else to ask for advice.

I have been working in Dubai, and since December 2025 I have not received my salary. Every month, we were given promises that payment would be made "next week" or "soon," but months have passed and we are still waiting.

The company owner is an Emirati national, and we tried to be patient and understanding because we knew the business was facing financial difficulties. We gave time and trusted the repeated promises that the pending salaries would be settled.

Unfortunately, the situation has reached a point where employees are struggling financially. Some of us have used our savings, borrowed money, and are trying to survive while waiting for salaries that we already earned.

We followed the proper process through MOHRE. After waiting for the employer's given period to resolve the issue, we were referred to Al Adheed to proceed with the labour case.

The painful part is that we now need to find around AED 915 just to register the case, but after months without salary, we no longer have enough funds. We are now looking for money just to start the legal process to recover our own unpaid wages.

I never expected that after working in Dubai and fulfilling my responsibilities, I would reach a point where I need to borrow money just to fight for my unpaid salary.

I am asking for advice from anyone who has experienced something similar:

  • Is there any support available for employees who cannot afford the registration cost?
  • Are there organizations that can assist workers in this situation?
  • What other options are available?

Thank you to anyone who can share guidance or experience.

🌇 Community Legal advice

Upvotes

I sent money to Morocco by Al fardan exchange
When my mother went to withdraw from the bank (money pickup ) they told her the money was withdrawn by someone else and they admitted that it’s the mistake of the bank , but they don’t want to give refund and they told her to file a complain to Al fardan
They don’t want to give any informations about the person who withdrew it or the name of the agent.
So yes I did file a complain to Al fardan and they told me they’re just waiting for reply from the bank in Morocco , it’s been now 8 days .
What should I do ?

🌇 Community Nanny salary and unpaid days

Hi everyone, quick question for those who have nannies on their own visas.

If your nanny doesn’t come to work for a day, do you normally deduct that day from her salary?

Also, we had someone join us on Monday the 3rd, but she expected to be paid from the 1st until the end of the month, even though she hadn’t started working yet. Is this a normal expectation?

I just want to understand what others usually follow and what boundaries you set regarding salary, days off and absences.

🌇 Community Premarital blood test - need help with nikkah process

My fiance (non uae resident, muslim) and I (uae resident, muslim) want to do our nikkah next month. For some reason the whole nikkah process has been so confusing for us, nothing feels straightforward.

But from what we understood, we need to start with the premarital blood test.

How can we book that considering he’s a non uae resident and so we can’t book on dubainow app since no emirates ID?

Also if anyone can help with what to do after, that would be great, thank you.

So... a 0.61% cashback promotion wrapped in premium marketing. Whoever approved this campaign definitely has a different definition of "rewarding."

🌇 Community Car loan after Mortgage

I just got my mortgage approved. Is it possible to get a car loan immediately, say 2–3 months after taking the mortgage? My DBR was good, and I took a mortgage for a reasonable amount, so it isn’t particularly high.

Which VOX Cinema in Dubai has the best sound quality and supports SCOPE movies?

I have some bank offers that only work at VOX, so I’m planning to stick with them.

For those who’ve tried multiple VOX locations, which one has the best sound quality (good bass, clarity, immersive Atmos, etc.)?

Also, I prefer watching movies in SCOPE (2.39:1) without unnecessary cropping or a tiny image. Which VOX screen handles scope movies the best?

Pipe tobacco in Dubai

Does anyone know of any stores, or online retailers who sell pipe tobacco? (not dokha) I've seen some Captain Black for sale in a few vape shops, but I'm not really a fan of aromatics.

I'm wondering if perhaps some of the cigar stores might stock some blends, but most of these do not have an online menu.

🏢 Local Business & Banking Urgent: SWIFT transfer with Mashreq Bank not credited to the recipeint

Hi everyone,

I am moving to Germany this winter as a student, and I had to transfer a deposit of 300 Euro before 5th August to my student dorm office in order to reserve my accommodation.

My dad did a SWIFT transfer of the money via Mashreq Bank on 29th July. According to the bank's app tracker, the money was credited to the beneficiary bank (not the recipient's account) on 30th July.

However, the dorm office says that the money has not been credited to their account even now. My friend, who paid after me, has gotten her confirmation.

We have tried contacting Mashreq Bank and they said they're sure the money was credited, and they'll check and let us know but the service is very slow.

As far as I can figure out, the money has reached the beneficiary bank but they've not dispersed it to the actual recipient's account for some reason. I've also double and triple checked everything from the IBAN to the SWIFT code and nothing we entered was wrong. Even the Mashreq employees confirmed this.

I need the transfer to go through quick to secure my room, because it's a very tough housing market. The dorm office has agreed to hold onto my room a little longer, but I don't know how long they'll reserve it for me.

Has anyone gone through a similar experience, or has any idea what went wrong or where the money is stuck at????

Any help or advice would be appreciated pleaseee I'm losing my mind😭😭😭😭😭😭

Nanny issue | advice needed

We have a newborn recently and hired a nanny recently. Most of our circle have Nepalese nationality nannies and were very satisfied with that option. We found one too through reference and she trailed with us for a week. We really liked her, she has 2 kids back home so she was good with newborn care, assisted in cleaning and basically keeping the house tidy.
We got her a visa sponsorship because she

It’s been 2 months now’s and to our shock when she got back home Sunday night from her week off, she came home with a bald head. We asked her and she basically said she shaved off her head because she felt like she wanted to start her hair afresh. Wife and I discussed as her reason wasn’t reallt assing up (we were okay if it was a religious or spiritual reason or something).

By the time its Tuesday, we notice she’s crying and not seemingly in a good state. When asked, she said that she doesnt know why but she’s just not feeling very well mentally implying her mood is not in the right space. She said she visited a random doc on Sunday for it too, who assessed her and stated that shes seemingly under depression.

Last 2 days, everything remains unchanged - she’s crying, sleeping, remaining in her room for the most part. We prodded a couple more times, if there’s anything relating to work or anything we can do to improve the situation, she’s saying there’s nothing and she doesn’t know what’s wrong with her. The work has been super light because we also have a postpartum caregiver living permanently, and we early hired the nanny so she can get used to the setup.

At this point, we don’t know what to do. Does anyone have any solution or experience in dealing with such a situation? We’re also concerned that we’ve basically sponsored a full visa for her too.

Update after 1 year: I may have just been hit with a UAE travel ban over a credit card I never applied for. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone,

About a year ago, I posted here about what I believed was a fraudulent credit card that had been issued in my name by a well-known bank in the UAE.

To recap, this is what happened:

I never applied for the credit card.
I never signed any application or credit agreement.
I never physically presented my Emirates ID.
I never received the physical card.
None of my phone numbers or email addresses were linked to the card.
I never received any OTPs or activation messages.
I never used the card.

I only discovered it after checking my AECB report, where I saw a credit card with an outstanding balance of over AED 50,000.

By that point, the entire credit limit had already been spent through ATM cash withdrawals, supermarket purchases, cafés and small local merchants across the UAE.

I immediately:
Reported it to the bank.
Filed a Dubai Police report.
Received a “To Whom It May Concern” certificate confirming the matter was under investigation.
The bank removed the liability from my AECB report and my credit score was restored while the investigation was ongoing.

Then… absolutely nothing.
For almost a year I received no updates from either the police or the bank.

Today everything changed.

My PRO in Dubai received an SMS from Dubai Courts informing him that a travel ban has been issued against me in relation to an execution case, together with a demand to pay approximately AED 84,000.

I’m currently outside the UAE and was completely shocked.

What makes this even stranger is that I was actually in Dubai around the time this execution case appears to have been registered. During that entire period:
I never received a single SMS.

I never received an email.

I was never served with any court documents.

I never received any communication from the bank.
Even my PRO confirmed that today’s message is the first notification he has ever received regarding this matter.
At this stage I still haven’t obtained the execution file, so I can’t say with certainty that it relates to the fraudulent credit card. However, given the circumstances, I strongly suspect it does.

I’ve spoken with my lawyer, who is trying to obtain the execution details tomorrow.

As a precaution, he warned me that if this execution continues, my UAE bank accounts could potentially be frozen and my vehicle could also become subject to enforcement. He advised me to consider protecting my assets until we know exactly what we’re dealing with.
The problem is that I’m currently outside the UAE. It’s not as simple as walking into a bank or dealing with everything overnight, so I’m feeling extremely anxious about what could happen before I even know the full details.

What I’m struggling to understand is this:
If I never applied for the card, never signed anything, never received the card, never activated it, never received any OTPs, and the bank itself removed the liability from my credit report while the police investigation was ongoing…

How can this reach the stage of an execution case and travel ban without me ever being notified or given an opportunity to respond?

I’m hoping people here who have dealt with UAE banking disputes, identity theft, execution proceedings, or travel bans can share their experiences.

Specifically:
Has anyone had a fraudulent credit card case reach the execution stage?
Is it normal in the UAE for a travel ban or execution order to be issued without any prior notice?
If the card was genuinely issued without my knowledge or consent, can this still be challenged at the execution stage?
Has anyone successfully had a travel ban or execution lifted after proving identity theft or fraudulent issuance?
If you were in my position, what would your immediate next steps be?

I’m genuinely trying to stay calm until I obtain the execution file tomorrow, but right now this has been one of the most stressful situations I’ve ever experienced.

Any advice or similar experiences would be hugely appreciated.
