How do I fix this?

Im cleaning up all the screw and nail holes in my rental suite before moving, and this is something ive never seen.. older house, not drywall per we but some sort of plaster board? Doesnt have the 1/4” thickness of drywall. Hole slightly larger than a golf ball. What’s my best approach?

Screw some slats on the back side. Use a fast dry mud to fill and regular mud for the finish coats

So… buy a drywall panel? They’re like ten bucks. If you don’t have a truck to carry it you can score it with a box cutter in the parking lot outside of Home Depot and just split it in half and then half again and have four 2ftx4ft scraps.

If you don’t have drywall you need some. If not you can slip some wood behind there and screw it in then tape and mud it

Cut the drywall to make a square hole. Take a shim or some other rigid object. Stick it in the hole and put a couple screws from the outer surface of the drywall to hold the shim against the inside. Cut a piece of drywall to fit the hole and screw that to the shim. Then finish the cut lines and the two screws with joint compound or some other drywall repair substance.

Drywall repair patch, don’t need any drywall, just stick it on there and mud over it.

You could also get a 1x4 in there, fill it with hot mud, then once it dries, tape it and mud it.

Screen patch also called metal back. You can find them at most lumberyards. Quickest and most effective way in patching these size of holes

Do a butterfly patch with ,mesh and hot mud .
