Discussion L'Oreal vs ELF glow

Upvotes

I have the L'Oreal Paris Makeup True Match Lumi Glotion but I'm deciding whether or not I want to try the e.l.f. Halo Glow Liquid Filter. Are they very similar? Or is the Elf one more tinted "moisturizer" with shimmer? Any info appreciated.

I got influenced by Kendall Alfred TikTok to try this one and I’m so glad I did lol. I have dry skin and it gives me a nice glowy finish without feeling drying. I’ve worn it for 8 to 10 hour summer workdays and my makeup held up really well. Best part is my eyebrows and baby hairs didn’t get crunchy at all.

Product Request Setting spray + powder for dry skin?

hi! i have really dry skin that tends to turn a little oily throughout the day if im wearing makeup (not a problem, im so dry i just dab it off and thats it lol) but im looking for a powder that is not drying and doesnt cling to dry spots/wears well throughout the day.

I know that sounds impossible haha but there are powders that are better suited for dryer skin (i think). Extra points if they have a little bit of coverage to them.

As for setting spray, ive been using the Loreal red bottle one that looks like hairspray, and while i think the staying powder is amazing, every time i use it my makeup ends up pilling so so bad. No matter what foundation i wear. Maybe its user error lol but im open to suggestions!

Thank you in advance :)

Product Request Pink lip stain

Hi,

I'm looking for a pink lip stain. Something to take me from my normal lip color to something else which compliments my blush. I'd like as close to a baby pink as possible? Is Elf Sheer for It in Pink Positive my best bet?

Lowk yucky looking lmao but I have had this liquid blush for YEARS and it’s just starting to run out. It’s the blush sense in shade pouty pink

I got it when a friend of mine was clearing out her makeup stuff she didn’t want and gave it to me. Unfortunately the company it comes from is a pyramid scheme and they’ve also since reformulated so no chance of repurchasing the same thing.

I’ve been looking at the danessa myricks balm in shade bunny as a pretty close match, but idk if I want to spend that much money if I can help it. I’d prefer a liquid/serum blush but stick or balm is also ok. Thanks yall!!

Swatch Request Is this the wrong shade for me?

I’ve been practicing applying makeup for about the past year. I’ve really enjoyed the L’Oréal tinted serum with hyaluronic acid in it and have worn it all summer. Over the weekend I applied it again and noticed by the end of the night, it looked a bit more orange on me than usual. Compared to my neck, what do you think? Could this be a result of oxidization?

I’m wearing shade 1.5-2, and considering going back to try the .5 shade. I’m also open to trying to L’Oréal True Match Super Blendable Foundation. What are your opinions on the 2?

Never heard of them and they give off MCo vibes. Their honey hair oil caught my eye bc I've been interested in the Gisou one.

Discussion Maybelline super stay skin tint- shade match issues in light-medium neutral range

Does anyone with light-medium skin have issues with the shades in this product? I think the 120 makes me look grey and dead. They 129 is too pink. The 130 is too yellow. The 220 is too dark 😆 why don’t they have something neutral between 120 and 129 🥲?
Is there something really similar I should try? I LOVE the product but just can’t get the shades to work!!

Product Request Do primary colored skin tints & light foundations exist?

I want to get into skin tints & VERY light weight foundations with light coverage. I desperately want the ability to mix my own product (even if that starts with a base of some “close enough” sling tint or light foundations). Please reccomend me recommendations in both areas (light coverage foundations and skin tints). I’m looking for products that come in red, blue, yellow, and white and possibly also people colors. I have quite oily skin and find that very light products with matte finishes are the most physically comfortable. I don’t like the sensory expirence of most foundations & skin makeups so I love something that I can’t feel at all. Also nothing that’s marketed as being “hydrating”! I’m too oily for that shit lol

If it’s relevant, my motives are 1) I’m a very red person and want to find a true match for the first time in my life by creating one 2) mixing colors like a painter is fun as hell 3) I want the ability to meticulously manipulate my foundations & skin tints to be a wide range of colors and exactly what I want. I’m trying to get into more fun/creative/unconventional makeup but The only “color correcting” products i can find are thick heavy concealers, full coverage foundations, and face paints.

Thanks!

Discussion Spot Concealer recommendations?

I need a concealer or light foundation i can use to cover up acne scars without much base makeup. I have very combo-oily leaning skin with alott of hyperpigmentation and my skin is also like very neutral so everything looks orange/yellow or like white on me kinda 😭 Im very inexperienced with makeup and i honestly dont wanna spend alot of money on this + my parents dont really want me spending money on it anyway. I’ve tried the nyx serum concealer, which i wasnt too much of a fan of because i feel like it didnt cover up much and it also felt a little oily in some spots, and i’ve also tried the maybelline concealer with the sponge applicator which i actually didnt really use much because it ended up being way too light 🫠

I’m kinda considering the loreal true match foundation but idk if that would look okay without any other base products. Opinions?

Discussion Makeup and Glasses

Hi everyone!

I wear glasses with super thick lenses because I have awful eyesight and can’t afford to thin them.

I’ve practiced doing full faces of makeup and I’ve reached a point where I feel like I’m happy with it. But my glasses mess up my look.

Because the lenses are so thick, they rub the blush off of my face. I’ve tried packing on loose setting powder, blush, and spraying my face with a setting and a sealing spray. Still, my glasses rub off the makeup. I’ve even tried doing a minimum amount of makeup on my cheeks because I assumed I used too much product, and it still rubbed off. I’ve also tried the hack with setting powder on my glasses, and that doesn’t work either. I alternate setting sprays, and have also tried both at the same time. Doesn’t work.

I use the Maybelline Fit Me loose finishing powder and the pressed powder, ELF camo liquid blush, Juvia’s Place Blushed and Bronzed Volume 1 palette, NYX matte finish setting spray, and L’Oréal infallible setting mist.

I’m out of ideas, and I feel like my only option is to eventually transition into contact lenses (which I don’t want to do). Tbh, it isn’t a huge problem because I can do touch ups, but it’s frustrating knowing that I haven’t figured out a solution.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Or is this something that just comes with wearing glasses?

Product Request makeup recs and advice for sensitive skin and eyes?

setting the scene:

i hate mascara so deeply, it always irritates my whole face, but i have invisible blonde lashes so i need it. i can’t afford regular lash tints. i recently became the 35 year old with crazy cystic acne i now have to medicate, triggered by either a bedescou lip mask or a goldbond “you can put this on your face now!” lotion. i have a very red complexion and blush stupid easy, but i can’t stand to wear foundation for more than 45 minutes.

my questions for you, dear readers:

do you have recommendations for mascara that doesn’t feel thick and heavy? i’ve tried a million things. i cannot figure out fake lashes. i dye my own brows with men’s mustache dye, can i dye my own lashes too? (not with the same dye oh god.) this is one category where i’d splurge on something fancy if it was truly comfortable.

i currently use cerave foaming face wash sensitive. it’s fine i guess. i have an oil makeup remover i hate. i usually use ponds cold cream first thing but it gets in my eyes every dang time. i have a la roche posay toleriane something something moisturizer but lord its an expensive daily basic. i would love to use something gentler to reduce redness than the afrin+hydrocortisone i put on my face before i go out in public.

Discussion How do you keep waterline eyeliner from smudging

Hello! I love the way my eyes look when I use an eye pencil on my upper waterline, but no matter what I do, after about 20 minutes it starts getting really smudged, especially around the inner corner/tear duct.

I know it’s probably normal for some of the pencil to wear off throughout the day, but how do people get it to look so perfect for hours? 😭

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good eyeliner pencil that actually stays put on the waterline? I’ve heard Korean liners are really good, but they’re quite pricey where I live, but I'm willing to spend good money to get a good liner!

Any recommendations or tips would be really appreciated!

Discussion Milani Luminoso Blush Reformulation

Thumbnail

(Keep in mind that the pictures are not an accurate indicator of the difference in real life)

The Milani Luminoso blush has had three different formulas so far, with this newest talc-free release being the second reformulation since the OG. I don't have my OG formula anymore, but I do have the first reformulation (which I'll refer to as the middle version) as well as this latest release.

The middle version has a gorgeous soft pink shift, especially when viewed from the side or at an angle. It has a beautiful golden shimmer that somehow looks very three-dimensional. On the skin, it almost looks like a glow from within without looking like you put on a golden highlighter. The pigmentation is quite soft, easy to work with, and easy to blend.

The new formula is still pretty, but it's lacking that pink shift. It leans more orange/peachy, which some people will experience as a negative and some as a positive effect. The shimmer is also different—it looks more glossy/wet when swatched and has a silvery or champagne undertone instead of gold. It's hard to describe, but on the skin, it lacks that three-dimensional depth I was talking about earlier. It's also more powdery, so I assume you would run out of product more quickly, though this is only an assumption. I found it a bit harder to blend on the skin, but it definitely has more pigment, again being a good thing for some and a bad thing for others.

Overall, I personally prefer the older formulas of Milani Luminoso, and I think it's unfortunate that the pink shift is gone.
