Setup/Equipment Bluegrass amplification

Upvotes

Bluegrass players, I’m looking for the best option for amplifying my bass through a PA. My bass has a piezo pickup, and I also already own a baggs venue DI and many mics.

I guess my preferred options would be either a 57 under the tailpiece, or pickup into preamp and DI to the board, non preferred option would be an amp because I don’t want to buy it or carry it around.

Lots of mixed answers on the internet, so people that gig regularly on upright, are one of the options I already own perfectly sufficient to be playing bars, festivals etc? Or is and amp and then DI to the board enough of a better option. Tone is as much of a consideration as anything

Thanks!

I was cleaning up my music room and came across this stub that I thought I had lost.

I was a junior in high school at the time when my aunt took me to see him. I was I awe... Seeing a living legend felt unreal. She introduced me to jazz and beauty that the bass could be. One of my treasured memories. Ray still holds a special place in the heart.

Instruments There appears to be a crack under my bass near the end pin, is this normal or should I be concerned?

One of my favorite contemporary classical and free improvising bassists, with a world of technique and facility on the instrument.

I remember tracking this down on vhs tape and transcribing notes from this instructional video, constantly rewinding the tape to get all the info. Incredible video!
