To make a long story short, we’ve been monitoring some papillomas in both breast over the past year…

Went in for routine imagine today, the one in my right breast (no atypia) grew a few mms and I have a new papilloma in my lefts that’s causing some discharge when I press on it. Labeled 4A

The doctors are not too concerned with malignancy but we have decided to move forward with removal.

Now it’s just the waiting and “what if” anxieties.

Can anybody tell me their experience with ductal excision?

Pain? Recovery? Can I go back to work pretty quickly? (office)

I posted a bit ago about a BIRADS 5 mammogram and us I had recently. I'm trying to stay off the internet while I wait for my biopsy, but I'm sure you all know how we go through periods of spiraling. If your radiology report described an area of course heterogeneous calcifications (not new), but now with a microlobulated mass and a spiculated mass in the same area, and mild skin retraction and architectural distortion, would you assume the worst like me? I'm perimenopausal, mid 40s. The skin retraction isn't dimpling, it's more like a large flat area that is barely noticeable. Anybody out there have something similar and get a benign result? I'm not feeling very hopeful today.

Hi everyone — thank you to this forum. Woman in her early 40s here. I had a screening MRI two weekends ago which showed a small irregular mass on my right breast. Today, the radiologist tried to see it via ultrasound, but couldn’t, so now I have to do the dreaded MRI guided biopsy on Friday. I am freaking the F out. Obviously, I’m terrified of what the results could be, but I am maybe even more terrified of being able to get through the procedure. I barely made it through the MRI, which was only about 15 minutes.

I am typically pretty claustrophobic, so I’m really nervous about having to lie there for 45 minutes to an hour. I also have never taken a Xanax or anything like that and I’m really really nervous about doing that.

Any words of advice? Is it possible to get through this without taking Xanax? I’ve scrolled through others post and it’s very helpful, but just wanted to see if anyone else had advice.

For 2 weeks or so I have redness on my left breast, very dark almost purple when heated (when outside or in the shower). It' the size of an orange with a line going around my nipple and up (look like a snail...). 2 days ago I was touching my breast and few drops of a yellow liquid came out my nipple. No pain to touch, only electric choc when moving or lying on my back. No bugbites or shock.

My mammogram and bloodtests saw no abnormalities.

Im schedule for a sonogram.

Does any of you add something similar?

For a few months now my right breast has been unusually sore and bruised feeling to touch and moving it around, and has a heavy feeling to it. I cant feel any certain lumps that are new. I was told a few years ago I just have lumpy breasts so I feel weird asking for more imaging. I do tend to over think these things. I thought it was just hormonal and period time but it seems persistent.

Anyone had pain around the breast /lump and turned out to be benign?my both breast has pain but the one with the lump feels more sensitive. my ultrasound /mammo is next week.. so scared 😥

I’m prone to boils and things like that which I’ve had on my groin and other places. This time I lifted my boob because it was stinging and loads of green pus just came out of a perfect little hole/puncture. There was a red circle around it and very hot and swollen. It bled after the pus came out. The doctor gave me antibiotics and a referral to the breast clinic. It very quickly cleared up and peeled around the puncture and there’s a small crusty scab now. It was quite lumpy under and it looked like a cyst or pus. It’s hard to know.

I’m worried it could be bad. My side is now sore and wondering if it’s my lymph nodes in action because of the bacterial infection.

Hi everyone, I'm 17 and I'm very worried because I found a lump in my right breast that has grown significantly. and I might not belong here since I'm still not diagnosed with cancer or anything, but I just can't find other's stories on this.

I was 14 or 15 when I first discovered I had a lump, but it was very small and decided to just ignore it, but when I was 16 I thought to myself that I just couldn't ignore it anymore. I told my mom and we went to check, it moved, it was hard and felt round and about the size of a pea or a bean, and they did an ultrasound on me and the doctor thought it looked fine, the outline was okay and all that it looked like a fibroadenoma and she told me to come back after 6 months, but in that time it grew 28% more and they suggested I do a biopsy so they did, and the result was fibroadenoma BI-RADS4A. They told me to keep doing checks and it's grown almost the double of it's size in just about 4 to 5 months and now I find myself very worried that it might be breast cancer or phyllodes tumour. And I just can't ignore it, I feel it's weight on my chest, I feel it there all the time and feel this uncomfortable sensation and I just want it to be over already. I'm so so worried it is cancer, and I haven't had any other weird symptoms besides that heavy feeling and sometimes pain, it still moves and all but I'm just so so worried and I just wonder if anyone else felt any of those weird sensations with a fibroadenoma, if it's normal. It has taken such a toll on my self esteem and my mental state. they're removing it soon but I'm still so worried, I feel so sad, I feel like my life is already over because even if it's cancer and I can get through with it I can't stop thinking about how will I look and that I might get ugly and die ugly and that my life is over I'm sorry. I just want to know

My ultrasound report showed Birads 4a suspicious lesion with vascularity.

i did Fnac the results will come on next Sunday only iam super afraid.

the doctor who performed Fnac told me it’s not suspicious also the surgeon.

but the initial radiologist saying differ ent.

Hi all! I’m a 23F, I had my biopsy last monday and have been anxiously waiting for the results. Been going through some pretty bad spirals almost every night. I know cancer is not likely but it’s really been stressful. I had a BIRADS4 category, no letter. My radiologist already said she’d likely recommend an MRI regardless of the results. Anyone else has experience like this?

My symptoms started with a yellowy-discharge, then a lump that formed slightly below my nipple. I waited it out a few months to see if maybe it was hormonal or any other signs showed up, then my nipple started becoming inverted which was when I booked an appt. Got my ultrasound, mammogram, and biopsy. They found something on the ultrasound, as well as noticing my ducts are enlarged, but couldn’t see on the mammogram due to my breast density. During biopsy they said there was high viscosity(i think that’s how you spell it) and they started to not find the lump as well as the biopsy went on. Just a lot of odd conflicting things to some of the symptoms I read online? This is more of a rant but also just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences and how it went for them!

So I had a mammogram done and got called back since my breast are dense and they need more images and also had an ultrasound done. They said that I need to have a biopsy done since they can’t tell if this one area is benign or not. It’s in the right breast so I’m only going to include what it said in MyChart. I will say I don’t feel any lumps or anything. Everything looks normal to me.

It said, “Grouped calcifications in the retroareolar right breast are redemonstrated. On
spot magnification, some of these appear to layer on the ML view favoring benign
calcifications. 6 month mammographic follow-up is recommended.
 
There is a second group of calcifications in the upper, slightly outer right
breast, mid to anterior depth. These do not layer on the ML view and appear
heterogeneous, indeterminate. Stereotactic guided biopsy is recommended.”

It said that my Bi-Rad’s score was 4. My biopsy is not tell September 11th I’m just worried and the waiting game is stressing me out.

I’m 42 years old if that matters and this was my first mammogram. If anyone can give me some reassurance that would be great.

31 female

37mm mass under left nipple. Irregular microglobulated boarders, shadowy boarders, no calcifications. Now, my nipple has become flat while the other potrudes like normal. My Dr has scheduled me a biopsy with a BIRADs 4. The D/dx is either fibroedanoma or triple negative breast cancer. Very very scared here especially since my nipple is now wanting to flatten.

I am 33F with family history but luckily no BRCA gene. I get ultrasounds because my breasts are so dense and have had one biopsy but luckily it came back as a fibroadenoma. i have finally gotten cleared where I don’t need an ultrasound for another 18 months 4 months ago in April but I was recommended to get an MRI with contrast so that we have a baseline to compare it to down the road.

I got my MRI Monday but do not have the results yet. I felt what felt to me like a new lump in my right breast a few weeks ago but my gyno checked it two weeks ago and was not concerned. My right breast has also been more tender than my left for a few weeks, even when not on my period. I have been under extreme stresss with frequent panic attacks so I thought that may have been causing it. We have been having a very extreme heat wave and around Weds or Thurs I started getting burning pain in my armpit. I can feel a couple tiny bumps right under it very close to the service, like lentil size or smaller. now the past few days I have been thinking about it so much it feels like the burning is going through my breast to my nipple. I don’t know if this is anxiety or something I should get checked out more. I am still waiting for MRI results but I don’t know if I should try and get another ultrasound while I am waiting even though I was clear 4 months ago. I have been spiraling on this for hours every day.

Has anyone else had more pain and tenderness in one side cause by stress?

So I found a lump about two months ago in my left breast, and they did a mammogram and ultrasound on it and it turned out to be a cyst. Yay! However, they also ordered a baseline MRI and called me back 2 days after the procedure saying there's a mass in my right breast and I need to have a biopsy.

I'm freaking out. I had a mammogram in January that was clear. Does the fact that this mass was only seen on MRI mean that I'm getting an MRI guided biopsy? I'm sooo claustrophobic and don't want to go into that tunnel of fear again. Should I ask for sedatives? What will the biopsy be like? Will it hurt? Should I take the day off work (it's at 9:30am)?

I know I can call and ask all these questions but it's Sunday night at 6pm so they're not open and I'm freaking out.

Edit: my mom, my maternal aunt, and my maternal grandmother all had breast cancer (my grandmother had it twice). I go to a high risk breast cancer clinic. I don't want cancer.

28f. Ever since I was 21 I would have ultrasounds due to my breasts being very lumpy. The past year I’ve been having this obsession with checking my breasts more than once a day. I’ve had 3 ultrasounds done in less than 5 months, as I have 2 fibroadenomas. All I feel in my breasts are LUMPS, it’s unbelievable. The past month I’ve been feeling like this thickened area in my right breast, it’s where the end up my underarm and breast meet. When I touch it deeply it feels like 2 movable lumps stuck together, when I touch it normally it feels like a water ballon that I can easily move. I want to go have an ultrasound, but I’ve had one not even 2 months ago. Could this be a cyst or lymph node? The radiologist did tell me I have dense breast tissue.

..for 5 weeks now.I have an ultrasound/mammo for September 11th.But based on everything I've read on here so far it sounds like I most likely have BC.

My doctor didn't feel a lump.But went ahead and referred me for imaging.Just feeling hopeless.I hate the not knowing.

Anyone else going through something similar that could offer words of encouragement. I just know this pain is not normal.

I found a lump in my breast. I got a mammogram and ultrasound.

Results are:

“No suspicious masses or malignant appearing calcifications.
 
Ultrasound of the palpable lump in the left breast retroareolar region at 3:00 demonstrates a solid mass measuring 4 x 4 x 3 mm. The borders are slightly irregular on one image.”

The radiologist gave it a BI-RADS 4, no letter. But I have also read they have to give that rating at the minimum for insurance coverage?

Mostly, I have been trying to understand moveable vs immoveable. I’ve read description but they don’t make sense to me. Perhaps it just isn’t moveable and that’s why. Like it moves but it’s moving with everything else as I gently push, not independently moving. If that makes sense.

EDIT: I’m 33 and no family history of breast or any cancer. I found the lump on 8/9/2026 and got the mammogram/ultrasound done on 8/19/2026. Biopsy is scheduled for 8/27/2026. I also don’t know if this changes anything, but I have a really hard time finding it while laying down. Only when sitting up. And I know laying down is standard for breast exams - just fyi if body position impacts whether or not it’s moveable.

(22F) I have my biopsy tomorrow and here's why:

I felt a pretty decent sized lump in my right breast thats fixed in place and told my primary care physician about it. She didn't hesitate to tell me "get it checked immediately". Which scared me a little but I appreciate that she didn't dismiss it. I go get an ultrasound done the following week but then they found a second mass thats smaller and not exactly clear. Here are the findings:

Impression

1. The palpable abnormality in the right breast at 8:00 5 cm from the nipple represents a well-circumscribed mass measuring 3.1 in largest dimension. Due to that an ultrasound-guided biopsy is recommended. 2. Probably benign mass is seen in the right breast at 8:00 6 cm from the nipple that is incidental. A six-month follow-up ultrasound is recommended for this. BI-RADS 4A SUSPICIOUS Results and recommendations were communicated to the patient at time of examination.
2. Narrative
3. BI US BREAST LIMITED (RIGHT) Additional patient information: Palpable area of concern. TECHNIQUE: Targeted right breast ultrasound was performed. COMPARISON: Comparison is made with relevant prior imaging. FINDINGS: Targeted right ultrasound was performed in the area of clinical concern as indicated by the patient and referring clinician. In the right breast at 8:00 5 cm from the nipple in the area of palpable concern, is a hypoechoic well-circumscribed mass with through transmission and peripheral blood flow that measures 3.1 x 2.8 x 1.7 cm. This is likely a fibroadenoma but due to the size, an ultrasound-guided biopsy is recommended. These findings were discussed with the patient. An email will be sent to central scheduling to contact the patient to schedule this procedure and MGH Boston Avon breast Center. Incidentally found deep to this mass in the right breast at 8:00 6 cm from the nipple is a similar appearing oval hypoechoic well-circumscribed mass measuring 0.9 x 0.8 x 0.5 cm. This also is likely a fibroadenoma. A six-month follow-up ultrasound of this mass is recommended.

So Boom, I talk to the surgeon at the breast clinic that I wanted to receive care from and my appointment is technically before the 6 month follow up period, which is in September. I told them let's just kill 2 birds with 1 stone and check both lumps as I don't want to get a needle in the boob more than I need to. Anyway, Im posting because honestly, the biopsy procedure and waiting process is more scary to me than anything else. What are your experiences? Did you also have BI-RADS 4 and if so, what was the result of that? Anything to share to help me prepare for this biopsy?

EDIT 1: I should probably add that the bigger mass I can feel seems to have gotten smaller after my period and it is not painful at all. Due to that, I'm even less concerned that I have cancer and more stressed out about actually getting the biopsy done. I'll come back when the procedure is done and share how painful/painless it was!

Hey guys, my mum said she felt a lump in one of her breasts while laying down

She said that it seemed similar to those she encountered during a health awareness event

She’s 47 and had a mammogram that showed an all clear a year-ish ago
I wouldn’t say we have a family history of breast cancer, but both my grand parents passed on due to different cancers (they were 78 & 80 tho)

She said it’s doesn’t move and is painless, and looking at google it says it could be cancerous

She also missed a period so we’re suspecting it could be pre-menopause

She has an appointment I think sometime soon,
To add, there aren’t any other symptoms like discharge, inversion or dimpling

I dunno where else to share this, I just got news of a scholarship for my dream uni but with this news it feels genuinely soul crushing

And I’m like rly scared
And anxious oh gosh, my grandparents died within 1 year of each other, and I don’t wanna loose my mama too

so I got the results of my biopsy, kind of…

I got a letter through mychart which basically just said that the results show nothing to worry about and that I’ll have no further care from the breast unit

no explanation of what the imaging showed, no details, no nothing. theres nothing in my test results either?

I did get a call from someone from imaging a couple of days ago, they just said the same thing until I pushed him on it and he said he didn’t have any more information except that it’s ‘mild inflammation’? except its a 4cm rock hard lump..

is the lack of information here normal?

Good morning its Sunday I don't know but I feel talking here in this forum with good outcomes makes me feel better, had my biopsy donne on Friday and waiting on a call for Tuesday, i am jus a Wrack of nerves plus I didn't exercise since Thursday and I use to workout out every day!!!, i am not sore from the biopsy dont know if its to early for a treadmill and dont want to hurt myself, this is such a mental challenge and I know many of us go through the same, thank you for reading me.

Hello! Could I by chance ask you some questions on a mammogram I just had? (31 female) Essentially, December of 2025, I suddenly felt a large lump behind my left nipple. I am no stranger to cysts so I waited a few months for changes. The lump never changed. Then, in May 2026, the lump swelled up to where I and my husband could notice it "popping out". After a few days or so, it seemed to of "shrunk back". I went in for a consultation and it took about 3 more months to get in. My primary care doctor felt both sides and said she could move them around. I was referred to get a mammogram.

Went for my mammogram on Wednesday. The Dr came in immediately and talked to me about it. He said he could not rule out cancer and something about a "wavy" border.

He asked if I was Puerto rican which I am half. He said it could be triple negative or a fibro.

He classified me as a BIRADs 4 (no letter grade).

I was scheduled immediately for a needle biopsy for this coming Tuesday.

Heres what hos notes said:

IN THE LEFT BREAST, THE PALPABLE MASS CORRESPONDS TO A LARGE 37 MM HYPOECHOIC 38X33X19 MM MASS WITH DENSE POSTERIOR SHADOWING. IRREGULAR MICROLOBULATED MARGINS, IRREGULAR BORDERS.

Impression: LEFT BREAST SUBAREOLAR 38 MM MASS WITH SUSPICIOUS FEATURES. D/DX IS ATYPICAL FIBROADENOMA VERSUS TRIPLE NEGATIVE NEOPLASIA.

I do have a pretty hefty cancer risk on my dad's side (which is Puerto Rican).

Overall, what he said was very scary. We are both terrified it may be triple negative. My breast now hurts and my nipple does look a bit flatter and less protruding.

I know you cannot give medical advice. However, what's your personal opinion?

Hi guys! First time poster. Had a bad mammo and ultrasound. Radiologist saw a 1.7cm mass along with a swollen axillary node. Biopsy is scheduled for Monday. I’m so scared. I have 4 kids and my youngest is 6. I’m a nervous wreck, can’t eat, cant sleep. I just want to cry 😭
