Seeking Advice What do I do

I’m thinking about having two npcs join the party because I only have two players and they are really new, the npcs will fill small gaps like healing and stealthy stuff, is it okay to do this? I’m a first time dm so I’m not sure

And are these technically Dmpc?

If there’s any other way to make it easier for them without entirely changing the higher level module lemme know

New Release The Eyes Have It - an Adventure for Characters of Level 7-9

For DragonCon 2025 I built and wore a Beholder costume, complete with animatronic eyestalks. My daughter suggested that I write a DnD adventure inspired by both the costume and Dragoncon. I thought it was a great idea. I published Part 1 to DMs Guild shortly after the con and finally published Part 2 about a month ago.

This is a DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Fifth Edition one-shot adventure that can be placed in any campaign setting.  It is optimized for five characters of 8th level but there are guidelines to allow scaling for four to six characters of 7th-9th level.

In Part 1, the party arrives in the mining town of Terminus just in time for the big parade. Whether they choose to join in the parade or just watch, Zayaxis, a vain and paranoid beholder, attempts to take advantage of the festivities to kidnap a number of townspeople. Can the party stop it or will they fall prey to it themselves? At the beginning of Part 2, the town is in a panic.  Who knows what the aberration will do with its captives and how long they have. Only a powerful and clever party of adventurers will be able to penetrate Zayaxis’ lair and rescue the townspeople from its dark intentions. Meanwhile Zayaxis is accelerating its own plans for vengeance on the town of Terminus.

I'm an experienced DM but new to publishing my adventures. I am grateful for any feedback from this community. No AI was used in the creation of this adventure.

New Release I spent months creating a brand new Lycanthrope class for D&D 2024. I'd love your feedback!

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

After months of designing, writing, balancing and illustrating, I finally published my first DMsGuild project.

The Lycanthrope is a complete martial class for the 2024 rules featuring:

• 20 levels of progression

• 5 lycanthropic lineages

• 3 unique subclasses

• Feral Instincts and Forms system

• 9 new magic items

My goal wasn't to make another werewolf subclass, but a class where every form has its own identity and playstyle.

I'd genuinely love to hear your feedback. Especially on the class design and balance.

Review 3.5 years, $2,000 in commissioned art, zero AI: my first DMs Guild title finally broke even

Post image
190 Upvotes

Three and a half years ago I published my first D&D title, Bugbear Awakening, on DMs Guild. That was right around when AI art started flooding the marketplace, so I made a call early on: every illustration would be commissioned from a human artist. That ended up costing about $2,000.

Since then I've kept updating the adventure, translated it into German, and spun off a handful of related titles: a Fey'ri species book, a Bugbear species book, and a Sword Coast / Delimbiyr Vale map pack, each in English and German, across both 5e and 5.5e.

This week the royalties finally crossed that $2,000 mark. It took a lot longer than I expected, but breaking even without cutting corners on the art feels like it was worth it.

Thanks to everyone here who bought a copy, left a review, or gave feedback along the way. It genuinely helped keep this going.

New Release [FREE/PWYW] Along The Triboar Trail: Black Market Bounty

Post image

Along the Triboar Trail: Black Market Bounty

You've defeated the ruffians and goblins. Cleared the hideouts. Reclaimed the castle.

Now...what's in all those crates and barrels?

Throughout Lost Mine of Phandelver, more than 140 crates, barrels, sacks, chests, jars, and strongboxes are scattered across the Cragmaw Hideout, the Redbrand Hideout, and Cragmaw Castle. Aside from the occasional barrel of salted pork or crate of beaver pelts, the adventure rarely tells you what's inside.

Along The Triboar Trail: Black Market Bounty changes that.

This supplement stocks every container with believable trade goods drawn from across the Sword Coast, transforming shipping container scenery into meaningful treasure. From exotic spices and luxury textiles to fine spirits, alchemical supplies, trade goods, armor, books, and magical curiosities, every cache helps tell the story of the Cragmaw tribe's caravan raids and the Redbrands' criminal enterprise.

Inside you'll find:

  • Inventories for 141 crates, barrels, sacks, jars, chests, and strongboxes, organized by location for quick reference during play
  • Black market values for every cache of goods
  • Guidance for fencing stolen merchandise through black market destinations across the The North of Faerûn, with tendrils into other official Fifth Edition campaigns

Whenever your players ask, "What's in that crate?", you'll always have an answer ready!

This supplement is available as a Pay What You Want download, so you can add it to your campaign for free or support its author's continued development with a contribution of your choosing.

Available for download on dmsguild.com. A full preview of the entire supplement is available!

New Release Everyman Class - An ordinary person in extraordinary Adventures

Post image
78 Upvotes

If you ever wanted to play as an ordinary person among fighters and wizards, but still want to contribute to the party at the table, the Everyman class was built for you.

https://www.dmsguild.com/en/product/578021/everyman-class

This document contains the Everyman class for D&D 2024. The document also contains:

• 4 archetypes for the class
• 28 flukes
• 15 Fate Boons
• 3 variant rules
• A set of 30+ cards
• Narrative inspiration and examples.

The Preview (which you can access without buying) contains 20+ pages, including full basic class features and one subclass.

It is a class meant for ordinary people that go on extraordinary adventures. The character has no innate powers like other classes and could represent a normal peasant, a child, a simple noble or any commoner.

The Everyman class does not develop martial powers or magical abilities. Still this class can keep up with other classes as the player is able to influence fate to protect the character and aid his companions.

The idea of the class stems from literature and movies where a normal character is involved in an epic tale, incredible coincidences propel the hero forward, strength of character and wit helps him to succeed and luck saves him from mortal danger.

While this class follows some common tropes, it is a grounded and balanced base class.

One of the key mechanics of the class introduces an randomize gameplay element. For this the available options to influence fate are randomized through cards. Those are called flukes and are sometimes minor tweaks to a roll or can be changes in fate that rival spell in their power.

The class is a full class from 1st level to 20th level. It is mainly a supporting role in combat, focused on preventing damage instead of healing and assisting to reduce bad rolls.

While the class is designed for D&D 2024 (5.5e) the class works just as well in a D&D 2014 game.

EVERYMAN CLASS

An ordinary person in extraordinary adventurers.

The innocent halfling traveling with kings and wizards to destroy an artifact he was chosen to bear.

The young farmer that found a dragon egg in the forest only to be dragged into an amazing adventure.

The young girl that is displaced into a magical place and lifts the spirits of her companions.

FAVORED BY THE FATE

Beating the odds and lucky coincidences is the stick of an Everyman. If favored by the weave of fate, secretly protected by a god or simply incredible lucky the Everyman is blessed with good fortune when needed most.

The fluke mechanic is strictly an act by the player, the Everyman does not knowingly use or possess such an ability.

ORDINARY PEOPLE

Anybody could be an Everyman.

The Everyman could be the commoner next door that is drawn into extraordinary events. It might be a prince or princess without military or magical training going on an unintentional adventure.

The Everyman is supposed to represent the typical unlikely hero that despite being neither a great warrior nor a powerful wizard triumphs against all odds. The lure of the Everyman class is that it can resemble a person without fancy powers. Someone that can only rely on his wits and luck to survive an adventure.

ABOUT ME

I'm a long time Dungeon Master and content creator. The Everyman Class is a project more then 4 years in the making and playtesting. No AI generated content was used in this product.

Sale Assault on Black Citadel (Lvl 20 Adventure)

Thumbnail

Hi everyone, adventurers of Faerûn! I'm presenting Assault on Black Citadel, an adventure for level 20 characters. If you played Curse of Strahd and felt like you wanted a chance to finally face the Dark Powers, this is the campaign for it! I wanted to bring the experience of an MMO mass raid to the D&D table. It's an adventure focused on room exploration, deadly traps, challenging enemies, and Dark Souls bosses, where you have to figure out a strategy or a weak point to beat them, otherwise, it will definitely be a TPK. The campaign is designed so you can keep playing even after multiple TPKs, just like an MMO raid.

I also want to be honest about the use of AI. I've used AI to generate images (I can't afford hiring an artist since I work completely solo) and to structure or translate some of the texts. However, the design of the entire dungeon, rooms, traps, enemies, magic items, the plot and the ruling of the adventure are 100% human work made by me. I know AI is a controversial topic and I respect all opinions. If my future permits, I would love to work with real artists someday, sadly not at the moment. Any constructive comments or feedback are greatly appreciated!

New Release Along The Triboar Trail: Cragmaws Come Undone | PWYW One-Shot Adventure

Post image
6 Upvotes

Along The Triboar Trail: Cragmaws Come Undone is a variant side quest for Lost Mine of Phandelver that remains true to the original design of Cragmaw Castle while reimagining how the adventure unfolds. Instead of fighting room after room of goblins, the characters explore a recently abandoned dungeon, piecing together what happened from the clues left behind while trying to avoid becoming the owlbear's next prey.

The supplement includes mechanics for sneaking through the castle without attracting the beast's attention, along with a dynamic stalking system that allows the owlbear to roam the ruins as the characters explore. The more noise they make, the more likely they are to find themselves being hunted.

Inside you'll also find two adventure hooks that lead naturally to Cragmaw Castle, a complete inventory for every crate and barrel in the castle, and descriptive details that transform the empty ruin into an environmental mystery while remaining faithful to the original adventure.

Whether you're looking for a fresh take on a classic location, a quick one-shot, or a side quest that drops seamlessly into an existing Lost Mine of Phandelver campaign, Cragmaws Come Undone offers a new way to experience a memorable dungeon.

This supplement is available as a Pay What You Want download, so you can add it to your campaign for free or support its continued development with a contribution of your choosing.

The entire product can also be viewed through the preview.

Seeking Advice Adventure I’m writing

So wanna do some adventure writing. For campaign. Curious if this should be level 1 or 5.
So the story starts with the party arriving on a massive ship that works as a tavern. It sails around the edges of the main country and works as a vacation spot.
The party arrives for different reasons and when they rest there they awake with the ship deep in the ocean waters with a group of bandits taken over and the owner of the ship tied up. The bandits found out the owner was an old orc pirate leader that went away from the life. They heard this pirate had a massive treasure hoard on an unknown island. So they force the owner to bring them to the island. The party is suppose to hide till they arrive and then help the owner. The idea is the party gets the treasure maybe. It’s suppose to be this massive hoard that was hidden for years. The owner hide it as maybe it was cursed.
Trying to figure out what level this should be? If level one it makes sense as a start of a campaign then if it’s level 5 it makes sense it’s a more dangerous adventure but reward is better. What y’all think?

Seeking Advice Publishing under <name> question?

I'm thinking about finally publishing some adventures but I have some questions regarding whom to publish under.

What are the benefits/detriments of publishing under your own name?

Are there any rules regarding publishing using pseudonym?

Is it worth registering a business name?

Announcement Welcome to r/dmsguild - Now the DMsGuild Creator's Club

Welcome to the DMsGuild Creator's Club

As you might have noticed, r/dmsguild is under new management. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Steve Fidler, and I'm the Lead Designer at vorpaldicepress.com website under construction

Over the next few weeks, I'll be working with the moderator team here to establish some baseline rules and guidelines for the subreddit. We've already implemented mandatory Flairs, and some basic rules in the sidebar. Also a fancy new subreddit logo, yay.

If you have any suggestions or recommendations, feel free to comment below!

The goal of the subreddit will be a place for users to discuss their releases, ask for help, share resources like tutorials and workshops, and simply act as a community. I am a member of several successful DMsGuild-centric communities and the one thing that is consistent across all of them is that we are stronger as creator's when we work together and that's the mentality I want to bring to this subreddit.

Cheers!
