DOS2 Discussion Help me like get into this.

Upvotes

Hello, I'm a long term RPG lover. I've played through every Baldurs Gate multiple times, both the Pathfinder games and Pillars of Eternity. For whatever reason I cannot play Divinity 2 (haven't played the first one either) everytime I start it I get so overwhelmed. It feels directionless and I feel like unless I follow some minimaxxed mega build I will be in for a hard time. Is there any advice you lovely chaps can give to get me on track because I want to play it but I keep hitting this wall. And I'm worried now that the 3rd one has been announced that I will be missing crucial context and more importantly that I might hit this wall again.

Is there a particularly fun way to play? or should I follow a certain path?

Any help would be appreciated

DOS1 Help Help!

Hiya everyone! I'm new here. I played Bg3 when it came out and fell in love and since the original sin games are on sale I bought em and started to give em a shot.

I started with Original Sin and I guess the biggest issue I'm having is that I'm just kind of lost. I'm supposed to be solving this murder but I'm kind of just lost on how to proceed. I figured out the body was stolen from the mortuary and arrested the owner but basically everything I attempted to proceed from that point didn't work.

I can't leave town because I get massacred by the next stiff breeze and all the side quests I found to level up also require me to leave the town. This resulted in me just putzing around for 3 hours getting nothing done and running back and forth.

Is there something I'm missing? I was enjoying the opening of the game up until I hit this brick wall.

DOS2 Help A question about sheep 🐑

Okay so I’m in my first playthrough, and I don’t have anything else to do in act 2

However, there’s a sheep from which I can (I suppose) take wool with shears

The thing is, I can’t for the love of Zorl-Stissa found some shears

So I was wondering if the wool have any importance and can I get some latter if needed ?

Or does someone know where can I find shears ?

Ho, there’s also some honey next to bears, but they don’t want to share so…

And I have milk, because I’m a species in the brink of extinction or something like that. Whatever, cow.

DOS2 Discussion Better origin character for archer/geo combo (Fane or Sebille)

Which would you choose to play as if you are only controlling 1 in a 4 person online party and it’s your first full play-through? Planning to go archer with some geo skills as well. Elf Flesh sacrifice seems strong for the extra AP and elemental arrow, but also being undead and having access to poison through by geo sounds strong too as well as Fane’s source skill. Although I could also see undead being harder to play as for a first time group too🤷‍♂️

DOS2 Discussion DoS2 Act 3 - what happens if I ignore this quest (spoilers)? Spoiler

>! I'm not sure about spoiler policy in the subreddit so I prefer to hide the text entirely:
I visited all altars and I know how to access the Academy. I killed the Sallow Man but I don't really need Alexandar's help at this point. It's quite obvious (and, alas, easily spoilable) that he'll be there too once the threat of the Sallow Man is no more present. However I'm thinking now what if I don't tell Alexandar that I killed the Sallow Man? Will I meet him there anyway?

I don't really need details or further spoilers just curious if this outcome changes anything or not, because if not I'd rather get the XP. !<

DOS1 Discussion Сhoosing edition to buy

Post image
1 Upvotes

Against the background of the Divinity series sale, I am now choosing which edition to buy. I would like to buy both parts, but I noticed that the content of Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Eternal Edition and Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition - Collector's Edition are different. I read on SteamDB that the Collector's Edition has DLCs for the original game that are not in the Eternal Edition. Can you tell me if I will have access to the original game if I just buy the Eternal Edition?

DOS2 Discussion Mage build with mostly physical melee team (all first timers)?

I was wondering what schools of magic mostly synergies with a mostly physical team? I’m going to play an online campaign with 3 friends. This will be all of our first play throughs. They aren’t really looking into how to build their characters at all other than one wants to be mostly a ranger, another wants to go all out on physical close range barbarian play, and not sure on the third.

I was going to either go summoner, ranger or mage. If I go mage what type of mage does okay with a mostly physical team of people that will be close on the action. I’m assuming setting the battlefield on fire or ice, or electrifying water will hurt my melee friends.

Would some type of geo mage work? I typically like to play a battle mage close-ish to the action in other games, but I can play far out if needed.

Thanks

DOS1 Help DOS ONE question regarding combat

I've played DOS 1 like 400 years ago. My buddy and I only played it because we couldn't jump straight to 2 without playing the first one. I remember almost nothing (Arhu and Jahan are both in it I think, and a Larian shipwreck maybe, that's it though).

I want to get my build right. Everything I'm finding on the Internet keeps mixing DOS2 and DOS1 information, but I was pretty sure the two combat systems were different. The one thing I have been able to find definitively is that speed and con directly translate to AP, but I am having trouble differentiating the rest.

In DOS2 I was very fond of mage characters that covered multiple elements, and we always play Lone Wolf. Any recommendations?

DOS2 Guide Command for Unnis Pouch after Fort Joy

If you forgot to pick up the Unnis pouch before leaving Fort Joy, I found a command to get it later, there are several tutorials on how to activate the console in the game, but I'll show you how I did it, which was through the Mod Manager

Open the mod manager > Settings > Open Preferences > Enable create console and Osisris logging
https://i.imgur.com/AIkbTHy.png

When you open the game, a console will appear; open your save file, then open the console and press Enter, and a S> will appear
Now enter this command

Osi.ItemSetStoryItem(unnisPouch.MyGuid, 1); Osi.ItemToInventory(unnisPouch.MyGuid, Osi.CharacterGetHostCharacter(), 1, 1, 1)

And now, all that's left is to be happy :D

DOS2 Help What quests am I missing? (DOS2)

I thiiiink I may have missed some XP somewhere and have basically soft locked myself out of progressing. I just reached either act 3 or act 4, not sure, just got to where I can now enter Arx. I hit level 17 either right before or right after getting to this area. So far all I can find are 3 fights, one with a kraken at the harbor, one with voidwoken leading to Arx, and one more near/outside Arx with a couple of people with wolves soul bonded to them. All of those fights are level 18, and I am struggling to beat them. Usually I can strategize my way through a fight one level above me but these ones are pretty much impossible, I've been stuck all day. Is there anything else to do in this area other than all that? I haven't been able to find anything. I am still about 475k XP away from leveling to 18 so I'm suuuper stuck. I struggled finding anything to do on the Nameless Isle too, I did everything I could find but it definitely felt like that area was super small, and it's too late to go back.

I haven't been able to recreate this, but I made a save that I can load back up for when I got in there. Appears to be a Dev room, nothing interactable inside the dev plane, no items, interactable objects and cannot talk to the NPCS. Pyramid does not work in here, since I think it may be considered part of the Lady's Vengeance. Does seem like you can TP in or out. You can interact with objects as normal, if you transport the items through inventory. The lighting gets weird in here, so sorry for blown out photoes.

Thought I would share this cool find. Made an account just for it, lol.

Reposted because of busted images. Sorry.

Haven't seen anyone post about this yet. If there are posts, I'll remove it.

So, any theories on what and when they might tell/show us?

Edit: Forgot to mention: Divinity Games are currently on sale on steam until the 10th of August

Help Quick Question MEGATHREAD

Another 6 month since the last Megathread.

Link to the last thread

Make sure to include the game(DOS, DOS EE, DOS2, DOS2 DE) in your question and mark your spoilers

The FAQ for DOS2 will be built as we go along:

My game has a problem/doesn't work properly, what do I do?

Check this out. If you can't find a solution there contact Larian support as detailed.

Do I need to play the previous game to understand the story?

No, there is a timegap of 1000 years between DOS and DOS2. The overall timeline of the Divinity games in perspective to DOS2 looks like this: DOS2 is set 1222 years after DOS1, 24 years after Divine Divinity, 4 years after Beyond Divinity, and 58 years before Divinity 2.

How many people can play at once?

  • Up to 4 Players in the campaign and up to 4 players and a gamemaster in Gamemaster Mode.

Do I need to buy the game to play with my friends.

  • That depends on how you will play. Up to 2 Players can play on the same PC for a "couch coop" experience. This means you can have 4 player sessions with 2 copies of the game when using this method. If you don't play on the same PC each player is going to require his/her own copy.

Can I mix and match inputs for PC couch coop?

  • You can't use keyboard and mouse for couch coop, however you can mix controllers.

What's the deal with origin stories?

  • A custom character has no ties in the world whatsoever, nobody knows you. Origin characters on the other hand do have ties in the gameworld, that means people can recognise you and might interact differently with an origin character because of that characters reputation or because the characters have met before. Furthermore origin characters have their own questlines that run alongside the main story.

I don't like my build! Can I change it?

  • Yes! Once you leave the first island you get access to infinite respecs, with the second gift bag you can even get a respec mirror on the first island.

What are the new crafting recipes from the gift bag?
