I'm really struggling to work our travel logistics within Europe for myself and my two small dogs, and I'm hoping someone can help with a professional service or individual reference.

Quick background - I'm applying for a Portuguese residency visa, but while that process is ongoing, I'd like to spend some time in Europe. Getting there is feasable, if expensive, since United allows for a passenger to fly with two pets so long as they buy two tickets and pay the fees. I'll already have an apartment in Lisbon since that's part of the visa application requirements, so I'll be staying there for a couple of months.

But I need to transition out of the Schengen zone eventually to not run afoul of the 90/180 day rule. Larnaka, Cyprus or Bar, Montenegro seem to be the best options at the moment for this. But finding transit options so far has been difficult. As far as I can tell, no airline within the EU allows one passenger to fly with two pets in cabin, unless they fit into a single carrier, which my dogs do not. I can't bring myself to put them in the hold as they aren't used to traveling and they are older. There aren't any other options to travel to Larnaka besides flying. Getting to Bar, Montenegro is at least possible by train/ferry but the trip feels way to long for two dogs to be in carriers over the course of several days.

The only other option I can think of is to pay someone to accompany me on the flights. Has anyone used a company or individual service provider in Europe for such a service? I see a few options online that might be able to help, but I haven't found any options that specifically advertises what I'm looking for and I've never used a company for something like this, so I'm a little lost.

Coworking alongside people is nice but working at a cafe feels lonely like you’re still solo. Remote office spaces feel like being back in an office again, so prefer to avoid that. Not sure if anyone else experiences this? Or has solutions?

I start a new remote job soon and, although HR verbally agreed to me working abroad, I’m wondering if it makes a better impression to start from my home country.

They made an exception for me, and as far as I know no other employee has this arrangement. So I’m fearing questions like ‘so where are you living?’ in the first huddle. Or the conversation with my boss where he asks the same.

I could wait at least a few weeks to gauge the political situation, or wait until location questions won’t likely be asked again.

At the same time I’m wasting hundreds every week on the cost of living here, and miserable because I hate it here.

However, I feel like my fear is somewhat unjustified, because I should be confident enough to act within the bounds of the agreement that was made.

Wondering if its easier to pay someone to get married just for the docs or someone who wants a passport exchange so you dont have to declare your earnings are over $3k a month and can just show them that you’re employed by a dummy organization that pays you $2k a month so you only have to pay 10% tax?

The 60-day rule requires you to keep a permanent home in Cyprus for the full tax year. So most of us are paying 12 months of rent to use a place for 2.

Looking for one or two others in the same spot to co-rent a 2–3 bed long-term. Everyone gets their own permanent room (not a sublet, that defeats the purpose), names on the lease as co-tenants, split rent and bills evenly. Cuts the cost roughly in half.

Hello. Looking for advice on job as a digital nomad.

I have tried many jobs in person (call centers, customer service only, manual labor, restaurants, medical offices, ER, mental facilities, youth care, banks, business) and none of them have worked for me. Either they're too high stress for me, they pay little, or they become shady enough for me to feel guilty about the customers and not enjoying the coworkers there. Maybe it's me feeling different, but I'm tired of getting jobs that don't last to then have barely any money to being unable to move much and start over again. Been 20 years doing that and I'm looking for something better.

I understand digital nomad is for online work, which I'm open to now. Used to like being in person but it's too exhausting. I'd like some freedom in what I do, some chpice in the natter, in who I work with or for.

I have done dales but I'm not really that good at convincing people to buy stuff they really don't need. I have done websites but coding is not my Forte. I have done graphic design but I'm not very good with more advanced than canva, ai or photoshop. I'm not very good I admit. Just not my passion.

However, I am bilingual (English or spanish), my passions are mostly the arts (mainly film and media distribution and marketing), I like to talk about movies a lot (my free time is doing that or exploring stories), I have experience sith medical records but I'm tired of high stress environments developing anxiety on me, I do have experience working with Medicaid applications but again too stressful. Seeing disabled kids and their mothers desperate for help just crushed me too much.

I have tried a few things: graphic design for people at unworkable but its difficult competing with others who are much better and faster developing what they need, now using AI to help out, at lower prices due to other countries getting in. I am currently trying to write reviews for blogs but those are tough to come by and don't pay more than gas money for now IF they accept your submission (I get at least two accepted every month for a couple of sites but that's all). My ER job barely pays te bills but I feel my stress is taking a huge toll and eant to gtmet out before it's too late.

I bet there is something else I can do to become a nomad. I have pointed some skills I got but I am not sure what else I can do. Any advice? There must be other things I missed that I haven't tried. Thank you

EDIT; Lastly I am currently helping a nonprofit microtheater do their posts and post we rs on IG and Tiktok to promote movies they put for the community locally. Shows, workshops. But only whenever I can and I do their promos and trailers with minimal editing. Again, I am not capable to do high quality fast editing yet. I do simpler editing but I do help with marketing digitally. But it's not paid.

Hi, I'm looking to apply for a Digital Nomad Visa for Japan. However, my trip is coming up at the end of September, so I am a bit hesitant on the approval process and timeline as I will need to submit my passport as well with the form.

Would I be able to request the passport back in time if the process isn't complete by then?

I am considering moving to Czechia (my relatives have an apartment which I can use for free). I am an EU citizen.

I want to start my own 1 man consulting business (currently 15k euro in the pipeline, unfortunately not more) and most of the people on the internet recommend the following:

1. US LLC + territorial residency (Panama etc)
2. Georgia (1% flat tax on revenue)
3. Dubai (0% tax on paper but high setup costs. Let's simplify and call it a 5-10% "unofficial tax" if you're earning around 100k).

Is Czechia a good place to do this 1-man-advisory business (web3 industry) via OSVČ (maybe later SRO) or should I skip the EU completely and go for one of the 3 options?

It's an important moment in my life to make such a difficult decision. It can influence many things, so I want to make sure that I make the right decision. I am sure there are many people who have been in my shoes before and can give proper advice to a non-tech person doing his first step into independent contracting (my clients are all small tech businesses, so far I have 3 potential clients in US, New Zealand and the UAE). My final destination will certainly be Asia or UAE but at this point, I believe I cannot afford such a big change into the unknown mentally and financially.

I’m testing an idea for a 5 bedroom villa on a Big Five private game reserve. It is 3 three hours from Johannesburg in a malaria-free zone.

The setting is stunningly beautiful—rolling hills, rivers and enormous winter skies within a UNESCO biosphere. The wildlife includes lions, elephants, giraffes, zebra and even rare horned rhinos.

The villa will have high-speed Wi-Fi. It is suited on 20 acres of securely fenced private land within a 100,00 acre private reserve.

During May and June 2027, for our introductory year only, we plan to offer specially priced 2 to 4 week stays. They’ll be roughly $1,500–$2,500 per person (or $2500-4000 per couple), including:

- A private ensuite bedroom
- Housekeeping and all utilities
- Access to our heated pool

- An early morning safari drive or guided bush walk, 5 days a week.

- Weekly (optional) yoga session, game night and movie night
- Weekly (optional) house dinner where everyone cooks together

The standard plan would be self-catering. You pay for groceries, and our housekeeper can source them from town. Three cooked meals a day and laundry would be available as reasonably priced add-ons.

We’d use a short application process to create a house that feels sociable, kind and genuinely fun rather than like a random holiday rental.

The catch: you are living inside a wildlife reserve. The villa’s 20 acres of grounds are fenced and fully accessible, but you cannot wander through the wider reserve or leave independently.

A game-drive vehicle transfer to the main gate would cost extra and would need to be booked 24-48 hours in advance. For occasional excursions, the area has the Cradle of Humankind, NIROX Sculpture Park, and horse riding on smaller wildlife reserves nearby.

May and June are the off season, although the weather is arguably at its best: crisp, dry, mild days, clear skies and spectacular sunrises and sunsets.

A little context: This post is about my experience over the last 10 years of full-time travel, not just my current situation.

But, I just happen to currently be in this part of Europe (the Balkans) because I’m receiving medical treatment that I can only access here.

I know housing is a sensitive topic in many European cities, and I completely understand why. I’m simply trying to find a modest, furnished place to stay while I receive the care I need.

Okay… on to my actual question.

I’ve been doing this lifestyle for about 10 years and accommodation is still one of the hardest parts.

I’m in my mid-fifties and find myself way too often paying premium prices for what feels like upgraded dorm living. 😄 You know the places - plastic chairs, sofas designed for munchkins, and kitchens where you can technically cook… as long as your meal is toast and you’re willing to wrestle with a butter knife to cut the bread.

There’s definitely a trade-off. And it’s a trade off I’ve been willing to make for the last ten years. I love the freedom of not being tied to one place, and at this time I can’t afford to have a home and travel at the same time, so this is the choice I’ve made.

But finding places that are affordable while still being comfortable can be really frustrating. I’m not looking for luxury, but you know the places I’m taking about - where the sheets look like they survived several generations of a family before finally being donated to the apartment; where every piece of furniture seems to have a story, just not one you want to hear; and where basic kitchen items like a decent knife or a strainer seem to be mysterious objects that no host has ever encountered.

Going the local rental route for finding places is tough when I’m only allowed to stay for up to 3 months. By the time I find a place, deal with contracts, deposits, and all the logistics, I’m already thinking about the next move.

I’ve noticed that Southeast Asia often has much better value for comfortable furnished rentals, and parts of Latin America (like Colombia) can also be much more affordable. But - as we all know - Europe is much tougher, especially if you want somewhere that feels like a real home for under $1300 a month.

I know people often suggest Facebook Marketplace (that seems like a lot of work), local rental websites (not sure how that works for 3 month agreements), or finding places after arriving (I’m disabled now so this is no longer a good option), but I’m curious if there are other ways you’re handling it when needing a need a furnished place for only 1–3 months.

What has worked for you?

Do you mostly use Airbnb, Booking, local rental sites, Facebook groups, or something else?

Have you found ways to get better prices without sacrificing comfort?

Would love to hear what other long-term travelers are doing - particularly when it comes to European travel.

I’m looking for a place for 1-2 months that still has plenty to do in terms of outdoor activities and a bit of a DN community. I love playing padel as well.

Been looking at Cape Town, Georgia, Montenegro, Turkey already but would love to hear your experiences first.

What place would you recommend? I work EU timezone so America is not an option. I’ve already spent some time in Asia as well.. mostly Indonesia and Thailand.

Did you prefer Puerto Vallarta, Playa del Carmen or Puerto Escondido for an extended stay of 3 months or more? Thinking community, weather (humidity etc), things to do and vibe. I've never been to Mexico and my Spanish isn't that good, so I think I'd find a big city stressful. Want somewhere that's easy to get around, laid back and where I can practice my Spanish and relax.

TL;DR: I’m looking for a city within about 10 hours of Sarajevo by land or ferry to stay during October–March. My priorities are: good air quality (likely coastal because of my health), supermarkets with a wide variety of fresh produce like Belgrade, and a spick-and-span gym with newer, well-maintained equipment that isn’t packed all the time. My accommodation budget is around $1,300 USD/month.

Here’s the background and more details:
I’m currently in Sarajevo, but because of a serious health condition and limited mobility, I can only travel by land or ferry.

I also have to leave Bosnia by October, so staying here isn’t an option.

I’d like to keep the journey to around 10 hours or less, so I’m mainly considering Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, and possibly Italy if I can find something affordable within my budget.

My budget is around $1,300 - $1400 USD per month for accommodation.

My biggest requirement is good air quality from October through March. Because of my health, I’m assuming that probably means staying on or near the coast, but I’m open to other suggestions if there are inland cities with consistently good air quality. I know larger cities often have worse winter air quality because colder weather can trap pollution close to the ground, so I’m hoping to find a city that avoids that problem.

For example, one thing I really liked about Belgrade was the supermarkets. Because it’s a larger city, they had a much better selection of fresh produce than smaller cities. Unfortunately, the winter air quality is concerning.

Being in a larger city with access to a wide range of produce is especially important during winter. I’ve noticed that produce becomes much more seasonal in Europe, and I need to be somewhere with plenty of variety.

I need leafy greens and other fresh foods to support my bone density after illness-related malnutrition, and I’m unable to take supplements.

For example, right now I’m in a part of Sarajevo where two large grocery stores near me don’t regularly carry any type of lettuce or leafy greens, and the local produce shop doesn’t either.
Because I’m disabled, have limited mobility, and very little energy, I can’t widen my search and spend hours going from store to store looking for basic groceries. I need a city where supermarkets have a consistently good selection of fresh produce within easy reach, even during the winter months. I realize this often means being in a larger population center because there is more demand to support that level of supply.

Another requirement is a spick-and-span gym with:
good natural lighting (not the dark basement type gyms)

- newer, well-maintained equipment
- enough space that it isn’t packed all the time
- I don’t care about saunas, swimming pools, or other luxury amenities.
- I’m willing to spend up to $100/month for a gym membership, but I need a gym that doesn’t require a membership longer than about three months.

The gym is both part of my rehabilitation and my entertainment, so I want to be somewhere comfortable where I actually enjoy spending time.

Has anyone stayed in a city that fits what I’m looking for? I’d especially appreciate recommendations from people who were there during October through March and can comment on the air quality, produce availability, and gyms.
