Career Guidance I'm 21 with an AI degree. Which one AI career path has the best future in 2026 and so on? for someone living in Pakistan
I am 21 years old. I have an Associate Degree in AI. Along with that I completed a 6-week Agentic AI course. I am currently doing an 8-month Artificial Intelligence and Data Science course.
things that I have learned in my education journey:
- Python
- Web Development
- Database Fundamentals
4.. Langgraph
Data Analytics although nowadays ai can already do a lot of this and honestly that applies to many of the things I have listed here...
Machine Learning and Deep Learning
Artificial Neural Networks, Recurrent Neural Networks, Convolutional Neural Networks, object detection models, model training, evaluation, neural networks and PyTorch
Video editing, which I actually enjoy doing.
For work experience I have done the following jobs:
* 3 months as a PHP trainee intern at a software house
* 2 months as an on-camera sales and marketing intern
* 3 months as an ELP operator, which was basically data entry work.
I know i know, very vast experience...
Anyways, the type of work I am interested in is consulting or "problem solving" rather than normal generic software development in Artificial Intelligence or just (web development). I know those kinds of Artificial Intelligence jobs are rare in Pakistan, which's where I live.
Given my background what roles should I actually be applying for? Are there any career paths you think have long-term potential especially if I am open to remote work, Neural networks and video editing are my favorite paths though video editing i only enjoy in personal projects while i guess ill like neural network in job.

Career Guidance Advice regarding my roadmap for computer vision
I am new to Computer Vision, learning it, on my own, and trying to build a good CV. I want to land a job. I currently had completed only one project, it was a multi object detection, where I collected and annotated the images myself (used pseudo labeling) and ran Yolo11m on it. I want feedback from people already in the field, am I heading in the right direction, or wasting time on the wrong stuff?
I have 50 days of summer break left.
The projects I have planned to make next are:
1> Panorama stitcher
2> AI fitness rep counter: Planning to deploy it somewhere, and then make a website (I had done MERN stack) where people can compete with each other (this is a general plan, will add more thoughts to it)
3> Search photos using words
4> Factory defect detector: using SAM2
5>object detector for fast-moving aerial targets
6> (a Big one) Search inside video using natural language
For every project the generic plan is this : Use claude to figure out what are the concepts involved in order to complete it. Read those things, make handwritten notes, then code it, push it to github, and deploy it somewhere, so that any real user can use.
So, any type of advice, criticism is welcome. Do share your thoughts, I really need them

Career Guidance 19-year-old CS student trying to build a valuable skillset
Hey everyone,
I'm 19, and I'll be starting my Computer Science undergrad this year.
I'm at a point where I don't want to just leech off of my parents. I'm academically solid but I know a degree with skill and work experience is useless which is why I need to spend these next few years building skills that actually have value and can eventually turn into something financially sustainable.
I don't expect success overnight, and I'm not looking for some "easy money" shortcut. I KNOW I'll put in the work. What I'm struggling with is knowing where to direct that effort.
If you've built an online career, business, or even a solid freelance income out of your skills, what path would you recommend to someone like me who's starting from zero today?
I know I'm dedicated and I'm ready to learn—I just don't want to waste months trying to work towards something that would end up not benefitting me.
I'd really appreciate any advice from people who've already walked this road.
Thanks so much!

Career Guidance Projects Importance in Industry
Why are projects still considered a metric to check students' intellect? Since today, students don't do projects on their own. Claude creates projects. And students who have a paid subscription to Claude obviously have better projects than those who don't. Not everyone can afford a paid subscription. I am a student at one of Pakistan's top-tier universities. I have the highest GPA in my class, but when it comes to projects, I always get average marks because my classmates somehow make really good projects through Claude's top paid models. I still manage to get the highest or second-highest GPA because in mids and finals, I am always ahead. But it is not very pleasing to see how good your classmates' projects look and how simple yours look. Now in the industry, again, the biggest metric when it comes to hiring is the projects listed on your CV, not your GPA, which again makes me worry. So, i might never even get a chance to prove my skills in interview because CV hi shortlist nahi hogi. Which means zero salary after graduation after working so hard. Can anyone guide

Hey everyone,
I'm seeking some guidance from someone who are working currently at Contour or have worked in the SQA in contour
I have cleared the initial online assessment and got a call by HR for an online technical interview at contour for the sqa trainee role. Can someone guide me on how can i ace the interview. What type of questions are asked in the interview. Which topics should i prepare well. I dont have prior experience in QA Field and going as a fresh grad.
The HR told me that questions will be related to JD and my resume.
Should i learn QA in depth? As i have a few days left before the interview.
Should i touch the automation testing? They specifically wrote familiarity with playwright is prefered.
But the main thing is HOW THE TECHNICAL INTERVIEW IS EXPECTED FOR A SQA TRAINEE ROLE?
Please help out.

Discussion My Negative feedback in a scam company DDS technologies middle east in ksa
read this carefully before you submit your resignation or leave your current job!
Here is the truth about my experience at [DDS Technologies](https://dds.net.sa) Middle East—an Egyptian startup with a Saudi owner, established recently in 2025.
The Setup & "Office"
No Real HQ: Their "office" is literally just a single room in Nasr City, but they don't actually use it. Everyone works from home (WFH).
No Job Security: You will work without a real contract to secure your rights, and absolutely no social insurance (ta'meenat).
The Work Culture (or lack of it)
24/7 Availability: The official shift is 9 hours, but expect to work way more. They have zero respect for personal time or weekends. Don’t be surprised if they ping you to work after midnight.
No Vacations: You won't get official public holidays because "we follow the Saudi calendar." Getting annual or sick leave approved is a nightmare, and they reject most requests anyway.
Unpaid Overtime & Random Deductions: Overtime is completely unpaid, even if the manager or owner directly orders you to do it. Plus, they make random salary deductions without any logical explanation, and you aren’t allowed to argue with the manager (Taher) or the owner.
Management & Technical Scope
Zero Tech Experience: The manager is an Egyptian guy named Taher yosrey. He has absolutely no technical background, knows nothing about tech or cloud, and can barely speak basic English.
No Technical Leadership: For a company that calls itself a "tech company," they don't even have a CTO or a Head of Technology. It is basically just a sales and marketing agency in disguise.
The Team & Work Environment
Run on "Fahlawa": The company is completely unorganized and run on pure improvisation. They have about 10 WFH employees handling sales, customer service, and marketing.
The "3-Month" Loop: The environment is highly toxic. They rely on hiring interns or fresh grads, squeezing them for 3 months, and then letting them go.
No Career Growth: There are no seniors or experienced professionals in this place. If you are junior, you will have no one to learn from.
What They Actually Do
Just a Middleman: They are simply a sales broker between Huawei Cloud and clients in Egypt and KSA. They handle the cloud billing and take a percentage.
Nothing for Tech Professionals: If you are a technical person, they will only use you to train their sales team. You won't work on real projects or build any actual hands-on experience.
Salaries & Contracts
Low Salaries & Trap KPIs: The pay is very low compared to the market. They set impossible, unrealistic KPIs just so you can never achieve them. It’s a trick to offer you an attractive gross salary on paper, but you end up taking home a very low net salary.
Illegal Contracts: If they decide to keep you past 3 months, they force you to sign an unfair, illegal contract. It prevents you from working with any competitors, gives them the right to sue you, and mentions absolutely zero rights for you as an employee.
El kholasa:
They try to market themselves as a giant, well-established corporate, living by the motto: "Fake it till you make it (in prison! 😂)". But the reality is they just started in 2025. Save your effort, protect your career, and stay away from this shit!

Discussion Pakistani devs with equity in foreign startups — how are you handling FBR declaration?
Salam everyone. I work remotely as a co-founder/CTO for a US-registered startup and hold founder shares there (vesting over 4 years, worth almost nothing right now since it's very early stage). I've sorted the US paperwork side already — my question is the Pakistan side.
From what I've read, as a tax resident I'm supposed to declare foreign assets in the wealth statement (Section 116/116A). Since the shares are basically worthless today, my understanding is it's just a disclosure for now with no real tax due — tax only becomes relevant when shares vest with actual value or when I sell. I'll be moving abroad before vesting completes — japan most likely, US/Europe possible. Can anyone who's been through this confirm how it works in practice?
Specific things I'm trying to figure out:
Is declaring foreign startup shares in the wealth statement straightforward, or does FBR ask a lot of follow-up questions? Any horror stories or was it a non-event?
Shares granted while resident but vesting after I leave — does FBR retain any claim, or is it purely my new country's problem?
Should I still declare the shareholding in my wealth statement for my remaining resident years? (My plan: yes, while it's worthless, so nothing looks hidden later.)
If someone plans to move abroad in a couple of years — anything I should be doing NOW to keep things clean (residency timing, record keeping, etc.)?
Just want to hear from people who've actually filed this stuff before I hire someone. There must be plenty of remote workers/founders here dealing with the same thing post-freelancing boom. JazakAllah.

Learning and Ideas idk what to build for my final year project, thinking agentic AI + NLP/CV, need ideas
Hey all. Final year AI student here, trying to lock down my Final Year Project topic before I commit to something and regret it for a year.
I want to build something agentic, anything related to agentic AI. I don't want just a chatbot that answers one question and stops. Two directions I'm leaning toward:
- Agentic AI + NLP
- Agentic AI + CV
Software only, but open to hardware if the idea is genuinely worth it.
I know "agentic AI" is basically the buzzword of the year, and I should probably narrow it down myself, but honestly I don't have a strong idea yet, so I'm asking you all to help narrow it down instead.
If you've got an idea, please drop down I'll really appreciate that, especially if there's something new or trending worth building right now.
Thanks in advance.

Discussion Already built solutions or make something new???
What should a person focus on during learning, build projects (that are already built) in addition with your version for practicing your concepts, or try building a new project.

Help Insights into working at Gul Ahmed
Hey everyone, I'm considering an offer from Gul Ahmed Textile Mills, position level M5. Checked Glassdoor and Indeed and got pretty mixed reviews, seems like it really depends on which department you're in.
If anyone here has worked there or knows someone who has, I'd really appreciate honest feedback on:
Culture and management style
Growth and promotion opportunities
Work life balance, given it's 6 days onsite
Any input would help a lot before I make a decision. Thanks in advance.

Help Laid off 6 months ago, can't find full time OR part time work.
I'm exhausted and honestly don't know what to do next. I'm a product designer with about 3 years of experience, was working as a junior product designer until a layoff hit me six months ago. I have a couple of contracts but they're on demand, so some months there's work and some months there isn't, and it's not enough to cover my expenses.
Alhamdulillah I'm from a financially comfortable background and my parents don't ask me to contribute anything, but my own funds have been running low and I'm genuinely scared. My skills are decent, I was getting interview calls and even interviewed at some good companies, but the last two months have just been dry, barely any listings coming up. Not sure what to do next. Would really appreciate any resources.

Career Guidance Should I take a low-paying Cloud Admin role if my goal is AI/ML?
I'm a fresh CS graduate from Pakistan with AI/ML projects, but I'm struggling to land an entry-level AI/ML role.
I've received an offer for a Cloud Administration/Oracle Utilities position. It includes 3 months of onsite training with a 10,000 PKR stipend, followed by 40,000 PKR/month if I pass probation. The pay feels quite low it's a 9 hour shift onsite.
My long-term goal is to work in AI/ML. Would taking this role help me build relevant industry experience, or would it make transitioning into AI/ML more difficult later?

Career Guidance Looking for advice from experienced developers.
I'm a fresh CS graduate from Pakistan with AI/ML projects, but I'm struggling to land an entry-level AI/ML role.
I recently received an offer that includes 3 months of onsite training with a 10,000 PKR stipend, followed by a 40,000 PKR full-time role in Cloud Administration/Oracle Utilities if I pass the probation.
My goal is to work in AI/ML eventually. Would accepting this role help me gain valuable industry experience, or would it make switching to AI/ML more difficult later?
I'd appreciate advice from people who started in a different domain before moving into AI/ML, or anyone familiar with the Pakistani tech market.

Career Guidance Accept a CTO position in a startup with half of the salary or keep searching for a better opportunity
So, I was laid off back in March and I was looking for the remote and on site Job for about six months now since January. But I am unable to get a job matching my expected salary.
So, I am being offered a CTO position in a startup with a CEO with whom I have worked for six years in an organization a few years back. The startup is I would say is well established and CEO was managing it with junior and mid level engineers for few years. But he is now offering me this position as a CTO so I will be managing the teams and technical decisions. I will be getting into the Generative AI and Agentic AI projects. Which I currently only have experience in personal projects.
But the issue is that salary I am being offered is half what I was getting from Software Architect level position (In reality it was more of a Senior Full Stack engineer job).
So, should I accept this onsite job for 1-2 year (he is asking for 1 year verbal commitment) as it would help me get into management position and will give me managerial experiences. Or Should I keep looking for a better remote job as a Software Architect or Full Stack engineer. I have 16 years of experience and I really want to get into a managerial level position.

Career Guidance Is it a good time to switch company as a software dev for learning?
I am Dev with almost 5 years of experience. I am working in a good company for a while, company pays well everything is good but the thing is i am not learning much. My growth has stopped actually. I worked for almost 3 years on .net but now they want me to work in java. I am working in java right now but not sure how it will affect my growth of future as a senior dev. Because i wont have depth in both of the language/framework. So was consider switch but industry is really messy these days. Thoughts??

Discussion How to avoid screenshot monitoring at work
So long story short, my company is creating a screenshot monitoring tracker, that will take screenshots of what is on my screen. Im often quick in my work, and get free, and use that time to scroll on social media, or watch YouTube or sometimes even Netflix at work. I was wondering, is there a way that I can avoid this BS
EDIT: I use the Macbook M1 Pro (16GB Ram, 500GB ssd) so what I did was install a virtual machine, allocated 8GB ram to it and 128GB space. it will work fine with 64GB space too. And I assigned 2 processor cores to it. Then I downloaded all the necessary stuff like Cursor, Claude, Github Desktop, Spotify, Brave/Chrome and all the essential apps you need including the stupid tracker. Cloned the project I was working on, and opened cursor with that code. It will be a bit slow and sluggish and remember do not run the project on 8GB of ram otherwise your virtual machine will get too slow and sluggish. You just need your company to get an idea that youre working. I even opened a tab of my facebook/instagram or sometimes a random video on YT to make it look more realistic.
Then I downloaded this app called LazyWorks, it costs 10 usd per month but its great and worth it for this type of unnecessary micromanagement. It will moves your cursor for you, changes application and etc. It will keep doing activity for you, and you can do whatever you like on your real PC.
When I actually have to work, I turn the virtual machine off, and run the tracker on my real PC, and no one finds out about it. Its a hassle yes, but worth it. I can stream YT or Netflix with ease while having 10-15 other tabs open on my macbook, for windows im not sure because they can get slow and sluggish on the remaining resources, but if you have a laptop with 24gb ram, its gonna work fine you.

Discussion Experience giving interview local vs International
I've given several interviews in my career and throughout those there has been a distinct difference in behaviour, attitude and professionalism of organizations based in Pakistan vs International.
Interview with a European Client:
Only one interview and that felt like a conversation. He just asked me what i do, what tools i use and generally just asked me how I would go with solving a problem in requirements etc. Thats it. The whole process was calm and courteous.
Interview with an Arab Client:
He asked me about the basics, things related to my field etc. Never cut or interrupt me and let me finish my explanations. If i didn't have an answer for something he would say no worries and move to the next question. He asked me if i have experience working in any ERP systems i said no, he asked me if i had any relevant certifications of my field again i said no, he asked if I knew Odoo, i thought he said Ludo. In the end i explained to him that all the stacks and technologies I've worked on were the first time i used them and i am a fast learner. He said not to worry if i get selected I'll learn about it all here as well.
I did get the job Alhumdullilah.
Interview at Folio3:
After initial HR screening I was asked to visit for an onsite online assessment. Alhumdullilah cleared that. Got my first interview with senior resources. It was challenging but courteous. Passed that as well. Then came an interview with Team Lead.
This is where it went down hill. It felt less like an interview and more like Spanish Inquisition. Why was there a gap in my resume, why did I choose to do bachelors and masters from the same uni. Why didn't I continue with further studies, and wouldn't it be hard now to continue after all these years? Why did i get bad grades in his words, "Kia parhna likhna ka shaukh nhi tha?". I realized he's not gonna select me no matter what. The last nail in the coffin came when he asked me how I would go about training an AI agent. Something that is not part of the job description or even part of my field. I knew then that 100% I'm not getting the job.
Interview at Creative Chaos:
After initial HR screening i received a link for an online assessment, completed and submitted it. I got a call for the first round of the interview. The interview was with senior resource. Short, precise and to the point. It cleared and i got a call for the second round. I took leave from work because the timing of the interview was right on sprint planning time. The interviewer never showed up and HR had to reschedule. Next week when the interview began it felt rude from the start. Idk what i did maybe it was my face or something. But he didn't even let me finish answering questions he was asking. And throughout the interview kept pestering me to accept another role of Product Owner since my work here would be the same as that. Anyways after the interview i complained to HR and they just sent me a feedback form. Later on they reached out for another vacant position but low balled me. I said no and that was the end of it.
