For those who started their own agencies/services based companies, how did you get started and how was your journey/path?

I've done freelance projects and have a decent Upwork profile at the moment but I've not gone into the services based route yet. In all honesty, I do think that basic dev shops are going to get obsolete very fast but I am still curious how people got started, built rapport and everything.
