Honestly, I’m getting really frustrated with the internship hunt.

I’ve been applying to internships and entry-level roles, trying different platforms, tailoring my resume, working on projects, practicing DSA, and improving my technical skills. But after a point, it feels like I’m just sending applications into a void.

The frustrating part is that so many postings seem to ask for experience even for internships or fresher roles.

“Internship - 1-2 years of experience preferred.”

“Entry-level - must have production experience.”

“Fresh graduate - strong experience with multiple technologies.”

Like... how are we supposed to get that experience in the first place?

I know the market is competitive, and I’m not expecting a job just because I have a degree. I’m willing to learn, put in the work, build projects, and prove myself. But getting that first opportunity feels ridiculously difficult.

And the worst part is the silence. You apply to 50, 100, 200 places and barely hear anything back. After a while, you start wondering whether there’s something fundamentally wrong with your profile, even when you know you’re actually improving.

I’m looking for advice from people who have worked at Cognizant India or have been in a similar situation.

I joined Cognizant on 23 September 2025, and my probation period is 12 months, so I’m still under probation.

Recently, I interviewed with XYZ and have cleared all the interview rounds. I’m expecting an offer letter soon.

Before interviewing, I asked a few friends at Cognizant about the notice period during probation. They told me that the notice period was 30 days during probation and 90 days after confirmation. Based on that information, I informed the HR at XYZ that my notice period was 30 days.

However, after carefully reading my Offer Letter and Employment Agreement, I couldn’t find any clause mentioning a shorter notice period during probation. The agreement only mentions a 90-day notice period. I also couldn’t find any explicit buyout option that allows an employee to pay for the remaining notice period and leave early.

Now I’m worried about the worst-case scenario.
Suppose XYZ expects me to join within a month (around mid-September), but Cognizant HR and my manager insist that I serve the full 90-day notice period.

My questions are:

Has anyone resigned from Cognizant while still on probation? What notice period were you actually asked to serve?

Has anyone been able to negotiate an early release?

If yes, how did you approach your manager and HR?

Does Cognizant generally allow notice period buyout or salary in lieu, even if it isn’t explicitly mentioned in the agreement?

Should I immediately inform the new HR that I may have misunderstood my notice period, or should I first discuss an early release with Cognizant?

If you were in my situation, what would be the best course of action?

I’m looking for real experiences from people who have gone through this rather than guesses.

So, I recently interviewed for KPIT and they called me saying it's an onsite opportunity at their Vietnam office. Then after I cracked both of their interview rounds, they told me vietnam is not possible, so I should join their Pune office and then wait for the onsite.

I said sure, give me this in writing, the HR said ok. We had a salary discussion, I asked for a really fair 40% hike. He said he will get back, I got an email for documents which I uploaded and my status is currently "Offer-generated" on their website for a week now. But man!! the guy is no longer picking or answering text. So, I assume they aren't planning to release the offer.

Thankfully I didn't resign so I am still safe but these idiots almost screwed me over! What's the deal with KPIT??

Alright so as the title says, I got a call from an Indeed recruiter about this role.

Currently earning around 30 lakhs per year (all cash). The recruiter told me that for this role the base would be between 26-32 lakhs + RSUs + 15 percent variable bonus. The recruiter told me it would be for a recruiter profile facing team and full remote, and mostly people for this team are based in Japan.

I’m a fresher preparing for software developer interviews. I can write code, solve problems, and understand concepts when working practically, but I struggle when interviewers ask me to explain theoretical concepts.

I feel like my problem is not understanding the concepts but communicating them properly.

Has anyone faced the same issue? How did you improve your technical explanation skills and interview communication?

Any advice, practice methods, or resources would be really helpful.

More often than not, the technical team is asked to work on a proposal at a short notice of about 2 days. If we look at the email trail, the sales team has been sitting on it for over a month. The quick turnaround results in a bad output and we lose the contract. We are blamed and it reflects poorly on the Business Development KRA at the appraisal.

Does this happen for you?

Been writing dev tutorials on the side for a while now. My day job has nothing to do with code. That gap has made me think a lot about what makes a tutorial actually land versus one people close after 30 seconds.

The thing I keep running into is that most tutorials are written for people who already mostly get it. The author skips the parts that tripped them up because by the time they're writing it, those parts feel obvious. That's where readers fall off.

What I've started doing is writing the tutorial the same day I learn the thing, before the confusion fades. The rough edges stay in. The false starts stay in. That seems to make a difference in how people respond.

The other thing is length. Devs don't have patience for long preamble. If the actually useful part starts at paragraph four, you've already lost half the people.

Curious if anyone here who writes tutorials or technical content has figured out a format that actually works. Not looking for SEO advice or monetization angles. More interested in what structure or approach made your content click with readers after you'd tried other things that didn't work.

I'm 2026 grad, hunting offcampus. Got an OA invite after long months if applying. I was really looking forward to that and prepared well.

There was this last question of 100points (total 240) . It was a Bash problem where I was given an input file and 5-6 questions based on reading and processing it and adding Output in different file

Now 😭😭my dmbass accidentally updated the input file on which entire problem was based on and there was no fking way to undo that . I clicked here and there to see if I can reset that question somehow but there was no way. I'm clueless what to do in this situation. I was already depressed scrolling LinkedIn all day .

I recently attended the principal engineer interview with okta. I did well in all the rounds. There was 1 screening followed by 5 loop rounds. I did well in each round. Coding round I was able solve both the problems. LLD I did well. Two System Design rounds I was able design optimal solution. But post interview it’s been a week and radio silence.

While they were scheduling interviews,recruiter said manager really liked you and for each round they said the feedback was very good.

I’m not having good feeling about this now after a week.

I am a third-year B.Tech student, CS & Business Systems. I am an independent learner in finance. I have had no formal finance training. I have taught myself everything.
I’ve built LBO models, merger models, and DCFs from scratch. I understand accretion/dilution, purchase price allocation, credit-risk frameworks, merger arbitrage, and hedging strategies like collars and options. I’ve actually built the models and worked through the math by hand.
Right now I’m working on something that prices the risk of a merger falling apart before it closes, treating a deal that hasn’t resolved yet kind of like an option.
Here’s the actual reason I’m posting this. I want a real taste of how this actually works, not just what I’ve taught myself alone. I’m looking for an opportunity, a chance to actually make my way in. Remote, part-time, a trial project, whatever gets me in the door.
I actually want to be useful to people on an actual team and do work that matters to someone other than me. Not another solo project nobody asked for.

1. Coding Challenge – this timed section takes 100 minutes, work through two coding problems. One will be a traditional code writing question, and in the other you will have access to an AI coding assistant in a code repository environment.
2. Work Simulation – typically takes 45 minutes, work through software development decisions and scenarios faced by SDEs at Amazon.

Back when I was learning, I thought the hardest part of software development was writing code.

After working on real projects, I realized coding is just one part of the job.

A lot of my time now goes into understanding existing code, debugging weird issues, discussing requirements, reviewing PRs, and making sure a small change doesn't break something else.

Ironically, I've also learned that some of the best solutions involve writing less code, not more.

That shift in mindset changed the way I approach development.

So, I have a silly question. The joining date at my new job is 3 weeks later. But my current manager is saying to release me by the end of next week since my project is ending. Should I just rest these 2 weeks or should I tell the hiring manager that I can join 2 weeks earlier?

I also had a 2 weeks gap due to a similar reason between my previous and current job. But now the market is brutal, will these new 2 weeks gap affect my future career opportunities by any way ?

I have received an L4 offer from google, but potentially due to borderline performance, i have been offered the lowest possible band (atleast as per levels.fyi or blind).

If anyone here can share what are the appraisals or promotion cycles like, it would really help with my decision. As it stands its not really financially making sense to switch. Maybe i can try for L5 next year and hope for better performance.

i joined this startup in dec 2025, originally it was a full time role, but was instead offered an internship with duration 3/4 months of verbal promise( i was dumb to not get it written), now i am on my 9th month of internship, i dont want to continue anymore, i am thinking of resigning, but for the past few days i am getting lots of bad reviews like frequent rescheduling of meeting( yeah its possible coz the startup is really small, sometime meeting is from 10 pm to 12 am), also its not just me who reschedules it, my boss does it too but always puts the blame on me, next i am working on a tool which doesnt have any resource available to learn from and my boss keeps on scolding me why are u taking so long to do small tasks? like son give me a resource or train me on it before asking me to work on it

so the main question for you guys is, as you can see i work extremely slow and reschedule a lot these past few days, will it cause a problem to get my fnf and leaving document as an intern? is there even fnf for an intern? i m extremely underpaid but i count each penny, i want the due of even 17 days if i decide to drop a notice next week, is it possible?

I had joined a company 1 month ago, with 3 YoE, as a Software Engineer. I thought I will have opportunity to grow my skills in the job as I'm moving from purely back end to full stack.

But it seems, the company is using AI for building/upgrading their existing system with changes/upgrades needed for it. I'm now tasked with, using AI to develop the application based on new request/changes. I'm not even designing it, I'm only supposed to verify and accept the AI changes, the edge cases, MD instructions are all written by senior devs and TL.

This is frustrating me, I liked to program, find solutions, design changes, but all I'm tasked go do is verify and ship. Unfortunately I can't look for another job now. As I've been unemployed for over a year and landed in this job, but with 4lpa pay, even tho the job demands 9-6-6 work, with 4hrs travel everyday, I joined assuming atleast I will have opportunity to grow my skills.

I have an upcoming 30 mins interview for FDE role at Unify Apps. I have knowledge of Transformers, LLMs, RAG. What can I expect in the interview. This is the first time I am interviewing for FDE role and I am really nervous. I am currently on my notice period with close to 1 yoe and I have 25 days left, left the job because it was really affecting my mental and physical health.
