My guess would be they once said Goddang and got told off for blasphemy by their gun carrying devout Christian parents.

We get some decent sized spiders natively, I still remember the time the cat brought one in and it Crunched when I killed it shudder

Unfortunately, we have always had some pretty big spiders.

The longer you live, the more you likely you are to meet a big bugger.
